  1. A grounder down left field? When did it start "grounding" in the infield? Over 3rd base? I "think" the homeplate/head umpire can over rule a call in the field. An umpire should signal fair or foul and not yell, since fair can sound like foul and vice versa. I would have my outfielder always play as if the ball were fair - especially in a 2-2 game. In this case, take nothing for granted. Wondering who called the balk? Tough way to lose a game unless the balk was obvious.
  2. Na Na --- Na Na Na Na --- Hey Hey --- Hawg Eye
  3. If all above is "true" why don't the Grundy County's and Uppermans of the world move to Div II small division - that division as whole doesn't seem to be too strong. Or stay where they are and get better.
  4. Another small correction - this is CPA's 3rd trip to the state. Coach Scott Oatsvall's, Britany Lee lead team, was the 1st to go.
  5. Thanks - were you able to tell by just watching it "if" the points were put on the scoreboard correctly?
  6. Anyone remember or did I and the 2 people sitting next to me dream it? 1st half, Lindsey gets fouled on a shot in the paint that does not go in - rolls off the side of the rim. Goes to the foul line and shoots 1, and makes it. Did CPA get 2 points for the shot that did not go in put on the scoreboard (I failed to look) or 3 points(missed goal and free throw) put on the scoreboard or just one point for the made free throw put on the scoreboard? Something weird did happen because some of the fans behind E Lit bench were trying to get the coach's attn. Just wondering. Good game. Just not sure score was right - especially in a close game like this one, "could" have made a difference.
  7. Publics "do not" recruit! they "transfer" - workin' the system baby, set up by the public school systems. AND endorsed by the TSSAA!
  8. .... and can you start a poll in regards to: if Clarksville Northeast plays an illegal player should they have to vacate their wins?
  9. Those "dang" publics - always trying to get an edge - not fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Exploitation? Not so sure.. Check out Tebow book "Through My Eyes" Home- schooler going to little Christian school, and was "in line" to be starting QB as a Sr - prior years they had him playing linebacker just because he was so big and strong/but he wanted to play QB. He and his dad start going to visit other schools - moves in apt within new school zone with mom(his teacher) went by all the rules... and u know the rest of the story. Exception/yes - Exploitation/no
  11. I would "think" that a h.s. coach that has played division 1 at a local university would have at least the "ear" of a college coach - at any level, especially in the case of say 2 players from 2 different schools that maybe have the same ability or fit for what a college coach may be looking for. To me it's just "maybe" a tie breaker - and some players/parents want that advantage - if one at all. If you "are" a great player - they will find you - that's the college coach's job. The "lesser" of a player that you are, to me, the more you need a h.s. coach that has a good program, has been around a while, and has many contacts/college coaches, and has had players play in his program and that have gone on to play in college at any level Div 1,2,or 3 or NAIA. And I wonder if a h.s. coach is not as good as a lot of folks say he is for whatever reason - why would kids want to/or seem to come and play for him? Does not make sense to me. Recruit/transfer? Privates and Publics all do it - that's why they have rules for it.
  12. Same reason they (TSSAA) has rules for "transfers/recruits" for publics. Go wander around Rutherford County and see where people live and what high school they attend.
  13. The "game" knows - will be interesting to see who they draw 1st in the state tournament - if they get there.
  14. You are absolutely right! CPA recruits everyone of its students. No one is zoned to go there and if you want to go there you have to pay tuition! And you need to read the TSSAA rule book - believe it or not there are rules for transferring to another school - you can actually move from Greenbriar and go to school at CPA - if you follow the rules - and not have to sit out! And I would also urge you to investigate and turn them in!
  15. TC could move down to 0A to get away from the competition
  16. Define "private" please - charge tuition? that would make Alcoa and Greeneville and others private?
  17. The TSSAA has created this whole mess. The parents/coaches/adults have looked at every loophole within the rules that TSSAA has made, and "winning" programs have been developed within those rules - most of the time. The winners get blinded by the haze of a "gold ball" having done nothing "wrong" and the losers gripe about it not being "fair"
  18. Yeah, I was watching the game kind of on TV - had it turned down a little but could hear sirens - I thought it was going on in my neighborhood but it just kept on going and going on - then they showed the old coot that was doing it after the announcers made a comment about it - I turned it up a bit - bush league all around. Act like you been there before - which I don't think you had.
  19. Check out A-AA basketball. 3 yrs ago Clark-Range (public) went undefeated won the state too. Had a girl "transfer/move" from Monteray HS to Clark-Range HS her Senior year - it's either 20 mi or 20 minutes apart between those schools. Everything was done according to rules - If you go back in the woods and hills of TN you will see all kind of 'transferring" in the smaller/rural areas. Gibson County ain't too bad either.......
  20. Privates recruit, publics transfer.... yadda yadda yadda
  21. Transferred in - played JV till eligible - broke school rules - gone
  22. What/how does admissions office respond to anyone that calls them about admissions? A. Hang up because inquirer "may" have a student that also plays sports. B. Ask caller if they have spoken to anyone about anything about the school and if they have hang up, because inquirer "may" have a student that plays sports. C. If caller prefaces call with - my son/daughter does not play sports - take the call and tell inquirer about the school and what if has to offer and never mention athletics.
  23. Ask Overton High School about E Lit. I "think" the basketball team at Lipscomb plays on the "edge" of dirty too.
  24. Heads up - all students at CPA are recruited
