  1. Well well well what do you know, CA beats Mt. Pleasant 4 times this year(I thought 3, my bad) and Mt. Pleasant makes excuses about all of them. In the preseason and all season long we heard about Mt. Pleasant this and Mt. Pleasant that and how they were going to state this year and how they were going to beat CA. What happened????? Yes I know this post may be a bit premature because Richland has a very good team from what I understand and will be a great challenge for CA. Even if Richland beats CA, I can sit back and smile because Mt. Pleasant ran their mouth all year and never backed it up when it counted...... Good luck to both Richland and CA and may the best team win and represent the region in Memphis
  2. I think this year will be no different than any other, Shelbyville is the team to beat, Lawrence County #2, after that who knows.........
  3. Yo snowman, I'm outside CA too, and I like them too, I think you got it backwards. Nobody likes Mt. Pleasant except Mt. Pleasant.
  4. Lawrence County's only district loss came to Tullahoma. Who pitched for LCHS against Franklin County?
  5. Yes, CA is Columbia Academy, and they are a good team in single A year in and year out. Most of their players play for Columbia Post 19 in American Legion ball during the summer. The game with Mt. Pleasant should be a good one today, and hopefully my boys at CA will come out on top and shut these guys from Mt. Pleasant up for a while, I'm tired of hearing about them.
  6. All time greatest at Lawrence County was Cedric Wallace, class of 1995, Class AAA Mr. Basketball, 36.7 ppg in 1995.
  7. I just wanted to give a huge congratulations to Giles County for running through all the so-called "Gods" of basketball in West Tennessee on their way to a Gold Ball. To all you West Tennessee fans, how bout them Bobcats now???? State Champs, just like they said all year, unlike a certain team in Dyer County last year. I guess teams in Middle Tennessee can talk the talk AND walk the walk. Congratulations Giles!
  8. At least one mid-state team will win a game, since Columbia plays Hendersonville and they are both from the mid-state. I say Columbia moves on.
  9. I didn't say Central would beat CA 17-1, I said they'd beat Mt. Pleasant 17-1. The game with CA would be much closer, but Central would still win handily. I would actually like to see that game though, it would be a great tradition to start and a measuring stick to see the difference between a powerhouse in single A and a powerhouse in AAA. Good luck to both teams this year, I'm expecting my CA boys to bring back a state championship this year.
  10. I'll tell you why Pickle doesn't scrimmage Mt. Pleasant in a scrimmage game or a real game either one. Why would you play a team like Mt. Pleasant that would be nothing more than glorified batting practice when you can go out and be challenged by perennial state powers such as Oakland who sends players to division 1 colleges every year and has people get drafted regularly, Lavergne who has a great program that won state last year, Marshall County with their great tradition in AA and their state titles, and other AAA schools from around the state. Pickle wants his team to compete against the best, because to be the best, you have to beat the best. You aren't prepared for district 8AAA, arguably the toughest district in the state, when you play teams like Mt. Pleasant in the preseason. Simple as that. Word to the wise, Mt. Pleasant should quit worrying about Central because they haven't even proven that they can beat CA on a consistent basis. Lethal, I appreciate you taking up for me. Good luck to you this year and the rest of Columbia, except when they play Lawrence County.
  11. LCHS loses two seniors this year, should be pretty good next year.
  12. I'll go with the generic answer, because it's the right answer. CA is the best Single A team in the Columbia area, possibly the best single A team in the state. Deal with it. If you beat them this year and go farther than them, then you can talk. Until then, you can live in their shadow.
  13. Columbia doesn't play Mt. Pleasant because it would be an absolute waste of their time. Mt. Pleasant wouldn't even be a good preseason scrimmage game for Central. Pickle knows this and only schedules opponents who are worth playing. Do you HONESTLY believe that Mt. Pleasant could beat Central???? You've got to be kidding me. I for one would love to see this game just to shut you Mt. Pleasant folks up. My prediction in the game if it were to happen: Central 17 Mt. Pleasant 1
  14. I'm not from Maury County, but Central would probably run rule both CA and Mt. P. But they are supposed to, they are a 3A school and CA and Mt. P are both in single A. All 3 teams have talent, but Central is loaded with 3 times as much as the other two.
  15. There are a lot of teams that play tournaments, I know when I played we would go to a tournament and have 2 or possibly three games in a day against two or 3 different opponents. Could this be one of those situations?
  16. Two of the three out of Shelbyville, Lawrence County, and Cookeville, since they are in the same region and only the top two from region advance to substate. Oak Ridge, Sevier County, Memphis East, Beech, the other two am not too sure.
  17. Seniors to look for this year in 8AAA are Kenny Griffin RHP Tullahoma Zack Gray RHP Columbia Chris Scott SS/P Lawrence County John Whaley SS/P Lincoln County Joe Long LHP/OF Shelbyville Is Mark Chaney at Tullahoma a Sr this year? He has a lot of power at the plate and does a pretty good job at 1st base.

    CA comeback

If you could care less, then why did you post a message in this thread??? I'm not from CA, completely neutral in this argument, but how do they recruit???? They are a good baseball team with players who all grew up in Columbia. Chapel Hill will be a decent ball club this year with the help of transfers Keith Cochran, Chris Adcock, and Ross Meyers. Too bad they're still not on CA's level.......
  19. My predictions: 1. Columbia Central -- Strong returning pitching staff with Tennessee Tech signee Zach Gray, standout Bobby Bratton, and solid pitchers Andrew Luther and Dustin McDonald. 2. Tullahoma -- Lost a few key players in Jarrod Smith, Matt Carter, and Wes Pless, but have a solid returning lineup and a very good pitcher in Western Kentucky signee Kenny Griffin. 3-6 Up for grabs between Shelbyville, Lawrence County, Lincoln County, and Franklin County--Shelbyville, Lawrence County, and Franklin County lost a lot, and Lincoln County had a pretty young team, these teams should all beat up on each other and sweep Coffee County and finish with pretty similar records in district play. 7. Coffee County -- last year was a year to forget, this year will be a bit better, but they are still a very young team, Vincent is a player to watch for the future, next year they should compete much better. Anyone else have thoughts?
  20. Bobby Bratton of Columbia is by far the best shortstop in 8AAA and is one of the best in the entire state. Jeffrey Lykins of Marshall County is also very good.
  21. Yes, I have also heard that Kenny Griffin from Tullahoma has committed to Western Kentucky as well as Kyle Smith from Riverdale.
  22. Some Juniors to watch in the midstate are Bobby Bratton, SS/P, Columbia Central Tyler Boshers, 2B, Columbia Academy Nathan McBroom, 1B, Columbia Academy David Price, LHP, Blackman High School Alex Watson, C, Riverdale High School A few sophomores also are Stephen Shults, SS/P, Lawrence County High School Jarred Frazier, SS, Shelbyville Drew Earl, OF, Columbia Academy Who else out there is worth going to see?
  23. Hasaan got drafted in the MLB amateur draft by the Minnesota Twins, he was the #842 pick overall. I talked to some guys that played ball with him on the Shoetiques this summer and they said he can absolutely fly.
  24. I think Columbia will definitely be the top team in 8AAA, Tullahoma has a chance, they had a young team last year, just have to fill the void left by Carter at SS and Smith on the mound. Griffin should be pretty good for them. Lawrence County shouldn't be too much of a threat, losing almost their entire lineup. Lincoln County should be better this year than last, Franklin County lost a lot, Shelbyville should be decent, but they have to replace their top two pitchers, Coffee County, well I don't know, Vincent has a chance to be pretty good, and there's no way this year can be as bad as last year. The district should still be competitive from top to bottom just as it is every year.
  25. What about Wadale Williams of Columbia Central???? He can shoot the lights out and has so much quickness on defense. He was the District 8AAA player of the year last year as a junior.
