I watched the BA vs MBA game and it is evident at this point in time that BA is the class of Division II. BA dominated every facet of the game. They looked great on this night. Remember this, Ensworth beat MBA last year during the season and MBA came back to beat them in the State Championship. I am not saying that MBA will win in a rematch, only reminding everybody that it could happen. MBA's coaching staff does a great job of making adjustments during the year and during the game. It may not be enough against BA as they looked awesome. I do not see anybody in Tennessee beating BA this year. BA looked awesome. Congrats to BA for a great win over MBA.

Cody, I had heard rumblings that you were at the Naval Academy, thanks for confirming. I loved watching you wrestle at Tullahoma Middle School for Coach Welch, Tullahoma High School, The McCallie School, and UTC (earning All American). It has been a joy watching you grow as a young man and watching all you did for Tennessee Wrestling. I wish you the best of luck in your new endeavor and will continue to follow your career at the Naval Academy. What does a student pay to attend Gallatin High School? If they do not pay the full tuition, then are they receiving financial aid? I know some will bring up the tax issue, remember, however, those that send their children to private school are paying taxes as well. If this not financial aid, what is? Somebody else covering the cost of education? If they do not, then they are receiving financial aid. Also, open zoning opens a whole new can of worms. When Riverdale was winning back in the day, was M'boro an open zone community? Is it still? M'boro has grown so much they have added multiple high school so if it is not open zoning, it would be harder to win. Just a thought. P.S. Recruiting goes on everywhere, if you do not believe it, you are in denial. Public and Private schools do it. Read what the TSSAA said about it. DI was the culprit. When was the last time Father Ryan played Gallatin in football since your mentioned them? Just curious. Financial aid is not only for athletics. There are other students that receive financial aid from MBA/Baylor/McCallie etc and other private schools that do not participate in athletics. You would be amazed at those that are in other programs.

Totally shocked at the vote today. I am disappointed that Danny Gilbert voted to split. I guess he was doing what he thought best for Soddy Daisy. I can only hope that was his intention. It will be interesting to see what is voted on next.

The new proposal for a DII split will come up this week and I anticipate that all private schools will be voted out of DI and moved to DII. This will make DII more competitive in many sports and allow more public schools win state championships. This is an attempt to make it a level playing field but it will not. Yes, DII schools can take students from most anywhere; however, Nashville Metro schools can take students from outside their zone if they take a class at the school of their choice that is not offered at the school in their zone. It has been done for ages. Just look at the Overton team that won the State Wrestling Championship years ago and you will find many who were instrumental in their championship not zoned for Overton. I am not advocating against it, just stating a point. This new vote will not address that. Also, what will happen in a few years when the schools that have open zoning start winning everything. Will the TSSAA make another rule change to handle this? Stay tuned. Remember, there is no DII Representative that will be voting for this. This vote is being moved forward by a public school that kept losing to CPA in football. Remember the last time the DI/DII vote occurred that separated the 2 divisions, it was because BA beat Riverdale in football. I am seeing a pattern here.
