  1. Following more of this logic, since it is an individual sport, (know this will never happen in TN) but re-organize the classes/divisions into A for small schools; AA for every school above a certain enrollment figure. Yes I am saying to eliminate the current division 1 and 2 system. End result would be a true State champion, team wise the small schools would have theirs and all the powerhouses could finally end over a decade worth of argument. But this may too complicated for the TSSAA lawyers too see the forest through the trees. In IL, the Chicago area alone is full of private schools and many of them are wrestling powerhouses, but nobody up their complains about it, they just wrestle.
  2. There are many states that hold their state duals after the individuals. I will choose Illinois as an example. They had their individual regionals 2/5-2/6. They keep team points at each regional and the team point winner then gets to go to Sectional duals. From IHSA website: Advancement (Teams) The team scoring the most points at the Individual Regional will advance to the Team Sectional at sites determined by the IHSA. Four (4) teams will compete in each of four Sectionals in each class. There will be no sectional champion. Eight (8) teams shall compete in each of the three (3) classes. A random draw determines the sectional pairings and the State Final pairings. Last year was the first year for IL to go to a 3 class system, based soley on school enrollment, but as far as how the system works individual regions to dual tournaments, it has been the same for a long time, even when IL was only a 2 class system. I also realize IL has a lot more regions than TN, but this system is brought forward as an example of how TSSAA could implement this with a few changes, such as top 3 teams go to a sectional or directly to state duals. But they always hold the duals after the individual state. IL traditional state is the same weekend as TN 2/19-2/20 and IL State duals will be held 2/27.
  3. Coach Becker, Do have a rough estimation of what time you will start finals if everything stays on schedule? Also, do you have an updated list of teams attending? Thanks, looking forward to Saturday
  4. Ghouse, Yes tough year for Baylor with all the injuries. Did you happen to notice Scott West's line-up has (5) Dvorak's. I wonder if they are all brothers or just cousins. If they are all brothers, that is amazing that they can all be on the same varsity team. One family makes up 5 weight classes. Imagine that family room brawl at christmas time!!! Their mom most likely has no good furniture left in her house!!
  5. weigh ins are @ 7am wrestling begins @ 8am
  6. Just heard that all wrestling for Ryan invitational will take place on Saturday only due to weather/travel for out of town teams.
  7. Does anyone have any early results from this Quad yet?
  8. RMC, So how will they work the semis? Take top 2 teams out of Pool C? Winner A vs 2nd place C Winner B vs Winner C ???????????
  9. Not get in??? I am sure Coach Ramos will have a seat reserved for you!! Will see you there, just come introduce yourself to everyone wearing purple and you will find me. And let us all know what you find out about the pools? Still 4, 4 and 6?
  10. RMC, Thanks for investigating. Are you talking about the same singlets they wore for the Pope dual? Those singlets looked black on the video.
  11. Can anyone confirm a rumor heard while at McCallie Invitational, that the pools previously shown have now been changed? And if so, what are the pools?
  12. Yes, RMC. And @ 145 Baylor, Father Ryan and McCallie all in the same quarter final portion!! Very funny how that works out??
  13. 3:30 match-ups will be Collins Hill vs the Bros. and Baylor vs Ryan. Championship @ 5pm will be CH vs ???? Should be 2 great semi-final duals followed by a nail biter final. It will be a long day and anything can happen.
  14. Coach Kramer, Wasn't this originally scheduled for the 19th? Why the change?
  15. If they hold this match as previously stated on a Sunday late in Jan, I do not see how there would be any scheduling conflicts. Certainly, BCB can use his great negotiating power to do everything he can to resolve this match. I am sure that Moseley has already pulled all the strings he has a hold of to make this work on whatever date is needed. BCB, you cannot pass up the opportunity to spend an entire evening with all of the purple mommies!
  16. Schedule also shows this GPS match to take place on 9/15/09. No way those boys will have their conditioning and stamina built up to last. The boys in red will be ruined for the season after this one!! Their legs will be like rubber for months after GPS whoops them!!!
  17. Are you speaking of the Cheesehead Tourney that Brandon, FL won last year? McCallie did not participate in that tournament. Although, that would be a prime example of a tournament that TN needs to have a representative in. If you could Ghouse, please explain what the TSSAA rules are on # of tournaments a team can participate in during the season. I know they put a limit on it, just don't know what the # is. Also, I do agree with you on the SE Prep Slam, but I am certain it is still a great experience for the boys as a team, While competition may not be as high, it is still valuable mat time vs different kids. Good luck to the Bros. both in K.C. and in Illinois.
  18. Info from known schedules shows the following out of state tournaments. Baylor -- The Clash and Southeastern Prep School Slam Christian Bros. -- Toshiba Midwest Classic Ryan -- Mater Dei and Collins Hill(Kyle Maynard Duals) McCallie -- Southeastern Prep Slam As stated these are from known schedules, I hope there are other teams, like Bradley and Cleveland that will be travelling out of state as well. Schedules not yet posted. We all know that many individual kids from TN travel all over during the off season to improve and challenge themselves. But to continue to grow our sport we need to expose those kids that would not otherwise get to experience wrestling outside these borders. You never know when a kid will suddenly discover his hidden passion for wrestling and set new goals based on these out of state experiences. Exposure = increased participation.
  19. Baylor is going way up north to Rochester, MN for this 32 team dual tournament. Check out the website - http://www.clashmn.org/ If TN wrestling wants more respect nationally, we are going to have to send more of our teams to tournaments like this one. Congrats to Baylor for taking this step, now it is up to the rest of the top tier teams in this state to follow suit.
  20. looks like some of the mistakes have been corrected, but the 125 bracket is still not updated!
  21. Be careful as you go through the results/brackets. There are a few mistakes, where they advanced the loser in lieu of the winner. I am sure they will be corrected at the end of the day(wishful thinking)
  22. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> All DII brackets are up except for 125!!
