Looks like DC wasn’t ready.

Not going to make any predictions. Tuesday will be the real measuring stick for our ladies. Not intending ANY disrespect to Sparta, because it was a good win. But we have to show up in this game before anyone will take us seriously.

We haven’t beaten any GREAT teams (outside of tonight..I will say you guys are our marquee win right now) but have played with/beaten some GOOD teams and have been in every game this season. In my opinion, our history is causing people to sell us short. We’ve got some really special players, I think. I also think that if she keeps progressing Ferrell will be up for miss basketball in a year or two. Just my two cents.

It was. I just hope we come out with the same intensity Tuesday again Upperman. Maybe we can keep it close and have a chance at the end.

I agree, you are totally right. In any other game her antics would have been penalized. But I would also hazard to say that in just about any other game that last foul would not have been called. I’ve seen so many games where refs swallow their whistle and let the chips fall where they may on a last second shot. (Please don’t misunderstand me, I’m not saying it was/wasn’t a foul. Just that it normally isn’t called.) So many factors crammed into the last second of that game. Either way both team were given extra time to decide the game. Infinitely better than it ending either way on a whistle blow. I will never ever say that her actions were okay or acceptable. Just trying to see all sides and circumstances.

Not trying to be argumentative but didn’t you have free throws with little to no time left in regulation to put UHS away in the championship game? It was an all time great game, don’t belittle it by saying you were cheated.

Kitchen sink subbing isn’t going to work for us. I don’t think it’s an insult at all when I say that some of the ones playing just aren’t ready for varsity ball yet. Trim the rotation just a little. Will that fix everything? No. But that’s some of it.

I was there..maybe you think I’m someone else lol. I agree with you for the most part, but I think it’s feasible that we could actually be undefeated at this point. The two games we lost we did it down the stretch. Hate to see Agee go down the way she did, but in the time that I’ve been watching, we haven’t had a player bring to the table what Ferrell does. She is a special player. I could see us finishing as high as second to be honest. We played Macon close both times last year if I remember correctly. And it looks like Upperman played LA about the same as us. Can’t wait to see how this all plays out regardless. And as far as your reservations about the coach go, gotta give him credit for putting some actual decent teams on our schedule. You know as well as I do that in years past we would be 6-1, 5-2 and all of our wins be from cupcakes/home schoolers.

DC beats LA 48-33. Rogers for La went down early with an injury..hope all is well. Hate to see any kid get hurt.

DeKalb wins. 66-52 I think. Freshman Ferrell had 23. Played a great game.

We were down 9-11 points the entire game though, also had major issues fouling, and shot 2-?? (BAD) from three. Yet still managed to tie it up with a minute left. We will be okay, not great, but okay.

DC looked rough against Pickett tonight. Couldn’t make anything. Granted they are missing their leading scorer in Poss. New coach, new faces on the team (some who maybe didn’t like Martin’s style, which I’m not criticizing). They had some moments where they looked good but just couldn’t keep it together long enough to get any momentum. It’s all going to take some adjustment. I think Sanders will do okay given time.

DC gave Pickett a good game. 73-68 PC after DeKalb lead 60-48. Brown for PC is very good. Let her emotions get the better of her and spent most of the game on the bench. Still came away with 18. If DeKalb can stop fouling they could give people some problems. I would hazard to guess that PC had 30-35 points of free throws. And that’s not a jab at the refereeing. We were just too physical.

Macon’s time is coming but it isn’t this year. At least all the hardware is coming to 8-AA.

I don’t see upperman losing from here on out. Not a homer to my district either. Just being honest. Which is kinda scary. Lots of young players and I’m pretty sure Levy has a younger sister coming up next year but I haven’t gotten to watch her. I had watched South Greene the past couple of years and thought they would be the ones to take UHS down this year. Lots of exciting games in the next week. Nothing surprises me any more! EDIT: I’m also not meaning any disrespect towards other teams. Just making a fun prediction.

Farewell to Coach Martin at DeKalb. Hate to see him go but excited for the future.

In the past two players like the Smith sisters would've walked all over us. I'm not saying York is an amazing win but for everyone to be picking DeKalb last that's saying something. And for the majority of our players to be freshmen and sophomores also does. The team shows toughness that it didn't have in the past...that's my opinion anyway..

DC girls beat York 45-40. Proud of these youngsters and the new coach. Looks like the future in DeKalb is bright.
