  1. cclineman, You want respect, but you aren't willing to give it to everyone else. You say you lost to Clinton and they "really aren't very good". Maybe Clinton is improving a little as well; you must remember that Campbell Co. has beaten Clinton twice in the history of the school. I know I have respect for your improvement, but you must be willing to give respect to ALL others before complaining about the lack of it.
  2. I'm not sure that Powell will be tougher than William Blount; we'll see. Powell has victories over Mo. East, Karns, Halls, and South-Doyle (that does not compare to WB schedule - I have a feeling they would have some W's with those teams). Powell has a good record, but still interested in how they stack up against the good teams to come (Maryville, Central, West).
  3. For whatever reason, Johnson wore #9 in the Clinton game; he had previously been wearing #26
  4. There is no doubt that Campbell Co. has improved their football program over the last three years. But one certainly has to see that they have a very favorable schedule (if one wants to be completely honest) - Morristown East, Jeff. Co., Clinton, South-Doyle, Scott - then games left with Bearden and Karns. To date they have played only one team that most would call very competitive. Now, I realize that Campbell Co. has no control over their region opponents - but one can not overlook their schedule. Again, there has been improvement with the Cougars, and they are by no means alone in favorable scheduling.
  5. Comparing D-B with Campbell Co. - that's what's laughable
  6. For region 2 - adding Knox Catholic makes that region even more brutal than it already is. Anderson Co., Austin-East, Fulton, Catholic, Kingston, etc. Good Luck!
  7. I agree with Karns and Oak Ridge (once football is over, could be a slow start). I think you'll find that Clinton may be slightly better than you think (who knows, that's why they're predictions). Dye returns (10ppg, 4.5 apg), Dandrus returns (20 ppg), and Shoemaker returns (7ppg). Transfer Dorian Whitt should also help. Losing three big men will definitely hurt; they'll look alot different.
  8. Once again, Fulton is very athletic. In my opinion, it looks like another very good year for the Falcons.
  9. Matt Purkey did not play against Clinton as a senior. He left Clinton during the seventh week of his junior year and therefore was not eligible until the seventh week of his senior year at AC.
  10. It's ridiculous to take a potshot at someone when you don't even know who it is or anything about the guy.
  11. Seeing as how most commissions and school boards do their budget at the last minute and only for the next year, has anyone considered that this situation will probably be even worse next year (unless some miraculous new revenue stream shows up)? You simply can't have mandates at one level of government that have to be paid for at another.
  12. Add Anderson County to the list - the school system has proposed a flat budget for the last two years (no new programs, etc.) and we are having budget problems as well due to mandates at the state level (2% teacher raises, retirement increases, healthcare, etc.).
  13. Mykail Vibbert from Clinton also playing in this game
  14. I don't know the particulars of this situation, but I would have to think that state mandates are part of the problem. I always think it's interesting when sometjing is mandated, but someone else is told to pay for it.

    Dead Period

All SCHOOL facilities must be closed to your athletes and no coach can have an organized workout. Whatever the kids do on their own is their business. (this includes certified Volunteer coaches)
  16. The kid runs a low 48 400 and a low 21 200 - if that's not a D1 track prospect then something is wrong. If UT can get a lot better athletes, then get them because their sprinters have not been dominant in the last couple years. They score in the field events, decathlon, 800, and sparingly in the 4x400.
  17. I think this is an excellent point; particularly when you consider the track aspects. I believe the kid from Smyrna is going to run track at UT also, but Jeffers track resume is as good if not better. From a track standpoint (Iknow there are not that many scholarships), I believe that UT really missed on Jeffers.
  18. I, too, would rather work on my own field (just as is being done at CHS practice field and with the ACHS practice and game field). It shows a great work ethic to the kids and people generally work harder when they have a vested interest in the outcome. Clinton HS doesn't really have another option at this time, but to use city owned facilities for football, baseball, softball, and soccer. If you are going to use someone else's facilities, ususally you are going to have to pay; the Clinton city workers do a very good job with the facilities.
  19. Yes, I do try to be factual. You'll see that I did include Jerry Huckaby in the list, but to my knowledge, Kevin Catlett was not hired (he may have been at some other time that was not included in the BOE minutes). I also understand that ACHS has many more facilities(baseball, softball, etc.) to keep up so there is more work to be done.
  20. According to the June 2003 Anderson County Board of Education meeting minutes, the following individuals were hired for summer maintenance last year (notice that I stated that I did not know about this year): Johnny Cox, Butchie Daugherty, Mark Eldridge, Mike Ellis, Brent Gaylor, Josh Kerr, Larry Kerr, Anthony Lambert, Darlene McCulley, Danny Richards, Boyce Templin, Kasey, Templin, Jason Vowell, and Jason Rhodey I believe this to be factual. According to July minutes, Jerry Huckaby and Jason Huckaby were hired (although Jason had taken a new job in Mississippi at that time)
  21. All the improvements done at CHS have been through legitimate fundraisers or donations. CHS pays the city of Clinton $30,000 year to use their facilities. Just like at AC, the practice field maintenance is done by the coaching staff, however, there is one slight difference - AC's assistants are typically hired by the maintenance department for summer work and are paid for their services (last year this was 5 positions, I do not know about this year); CHS has one summer maintenance worker who is paid. I do not fault AC for this as it is my opinion that those who are busting their rear end should be paid (but please don't make it sound like there is an inequality in CHS favor when this is simply not the case).
  22. Clinton's two 6'9 posts have committed to play college basketball. Tevah Morris - Wisconsin-Green Bay AJ Freeman - Lincoln Memorial University Congratulations to these fine young men!!
  23. Being glad that a player is hurt is really a pitiful and sad commentary. I'm sure that the whole Karns Community, school system, and basketball program are very proud of such comments; it sheds a lot of light on what many of us already think.
  24. The Clinton staff made a mistake and did overschedule; we screwed up and we have apologized on at least three occasions to Coach Smith at Bradley. It was an honest mistake and one that we certainly hope won't happen again. There was not a contract between the two schools which contributed to the problem; Clinton already had signed contracts with opponents on the conflicting dates. As far as Clinton's schedule, it is top notch. Just as BC, we have played in several out of state tournaments with excellent competition. Wayne Co. (KY), Pulaski Co. (KY), Chicago Prosser, Chicago Marshall, and Lincoln (IL) are as good or better than just about everyone else on the Dragons' schedule (and that is no knock on any of our in-state opponents). Good Luck to the Dragons and Bears
  25. Bradley and White Station have proven themselves time and again at this level; everyone else is trying to get to where they're at right noe. Ther's no doubt that these two teams are the teams to beat. That doesn't mean that the other six AAA teams aren't capable; all are very good or they wouldn't still be playing. Talk is cheap, let's get it done on the floor.
