  1. Carroll Academy is coached by the former Tonya Parham who played for Gleason High School. She knows ball but because it is an alternative school; many of the girls never played basketball even in junior high.
  2. Greenfieldfan, whereas I have great respect for both Coach Trevathan and Coach Eddings, they are 2 great coaches - however remember that Gleason has split with Greenfield and beaten Bradford twice. Given those records - something must be said about the Gleason coach. I personally think that the Gleason coach has gotten the best out of his troops - we are not as athletic as Bradford or Greenfield. I think Coach Ayers has done an amazing job with his "given" troops as any coach in the region.
  3. Big Sandy at Gleason will be postponed until Thursday night, Jan. 20th. Gleason games normally start at 6:00 but due to Parent-Teacher Conference on that Thursday, the starting time will be 6:30.
  4. I think it is obvious who I am and I will give a few brief comments. First, I want to say that I was at the Lake County/Greenfield game last night. I arrived late and ended up near the end zone in the Lake County section. I didn't clap or cheer for anyone? Why? Coach T of Greenfield's grandmother is my neighbor as well as one of my church members. Some of my life long friends are from Greenfield. I ended up seated by #14 of Lake County --Sara Wallace's sister. Many of Sara's relatives (one who teaches at Gleason) are also members of our church who also attend with Coach T's grandmother. Who did I cheer for? Neither! Who will I cheer for Saturday night? Greenfield!!! (I don't know anyone from either Jackson school.) As for the Gleason/Greenfield game this past Saturday night, did Greenfield yell at the Gleason players as they left the court? YES! How do I know? My daughter was one of the ones that were yelled at. Who yelled? Most of the "words" came from the student section. How do I feel about that? They are kids! Kids will be kids. Tomorrow we will look up and see the same Greenfield/Gleason students riding in a car laughing about it. GREENFIELDFAN, this one is for you........ GO LADY JACKETS!!!!!!!
  5. Does anyone have the schedule? Will you please post the games and the times?
  6. "Let It Go" is a wonderful idea. Go back and reread my post. I was very complimentary of Miss Thomas. She is the 2005 Class AA Miss Basketball, which speaks for itself. As a word of caution: be careful when it comes to your facts. Greenfieldfan spoke the truth. Miss Thomas is a great player who happened to be frustrated on a particular night. It is no big deal. LET IT GO!
  7. Greenfieldfan is telling the truth - Thomas did refuse to shake Price's hand. Thomas is a competitor and she was frustrated. She was held 11 points below her season average against an opponent that is only 5 foot six inches tall and 120 pounds. I believe Thomas to be a wonderful person and it is no big deal. I believe that she was upset with herself because she is a competitor and hates to lose. I was not going to comment but I cannot allow someone to question the character of Greenfieldfan.
  8. I am proud of the effort that the FA Vikings put forth tonight! You have nothing to be ashamed of. There are some of us Vikings who live in Northwest Tennessee and were pulling for you tonight. However, you came up a little short; yet, Union City was sweating down to the last snap. Congrats on a fine season! WE ARE PROUD OF FAYETTE ACADEMY FOOTBALL TEAM! P.S. I did not get to attend the game!
  9. It was a good game. What I will remember about the game was after the final buzzer went off. Both football teams gathered at the end zone and one of the players led both teams in prayer. Then all of the players yelled, "Amen!" May God bless this fine group of young men from Stewart County!!! Have a "good rest" of the season.
  10. During one game this season, my daughter was in the game and went to the sideline to talk with the coach (she was still on the floor) and as she walked back toward the 3 point line, the ref told her not to enter the game until she was motioned to come into the game. She told the ref that she was already in the game and the ref didn't believe her, finally the coach convinced the ref that she was in the game. I know that there are problems with refs sometimes. Having said the above, my question is: who wants to be a ref? I don't!!! They are in a no win situation. Part of the problem is that our society does demand perfection as well as most people hate to lose, so the ref is often the blame for the lost. A good team will always find a way to win! Reasons to be a ref: low pay, people always mad at you, often away from your family, long hours, already tired from your 1st job. Those of you who complain, WHY DON'T YOU SIGN UP TO BE A REF?? I don't see many takers.
  11. Westtoeasttn, well put!!! Today people centered on one minor mistake rather than the 99.99% that a person does right. I personally appreciate all that Ted Barclay has done for the tourament. It has done a great job!!!!!
  12. Give poor ole South Fulton Ted a break!!! He has done a good job. The music is not too loud and at least I can talk with the person sitting next to me. Poor old Ted probably ordered a CD from some company and was playing them in the order that was on the CD! Give him a break! Gleason has done an excellent job as host!!! We commend you as a school for your hard work!! Great Job!
  13. I saw Kala play this summer. You have plenty of reason to be proud of her. She is a great player and she has a great career ahead of her. Best of luck to Kala this season and in the seasons to come. We are expecting great thing from her both on the court and off the court.
  14. Our prayers are with Coach T's son. We appreciate the great work that Coach T does on this website. Keep us posted on his son's recovery.
  15. It is no big deal, but Gleason is only 14 and 0. The game against Camden was not played on Nov. 22. It will be played on Jan. 10 at Gleason. However, thank you for your interest in the Gleason Lady Bulldogs. It is always appreciated.
  16. I believe the game will be played on Jan. 10th. Camden had just finished up football and was not prepared to play basketball.

Gleason does respect Huntingdon. In my previous post, I said 2 of the most under rated players are Brooke Pritchard (defense) and Wancea Melton. Good luck tomorrow! Coach Mike Henson is a gentleman on and off the court. Huntingdon fans are great fans. I notice Fred Ward (pastor of FBC) in the crowd watching some of his members play (Saturday night)! Congrats are in order!
  18. Good Luck to Coach Trevathan and all the Yellow Jackets. All of Weakley County is pulling for you! Go Jackets!!!!!!! Don't ever underestimate a Coach Trevathan team. They come prepared every night!
  19. Congrats are in order to the Fillies! Huntingdon has two of the most underated players in Class A. Brooke Pritchard is one of the best defensive players that I have seen this year. And the most underated person in all of Class A is Waneca Melton. She is powerful under the boards. She plays with class. Congrats!
  20. Unless there was bad weather, they had a choice!!!
  21. Congrats on a great career at Vandy(I believe it is suppose to be an academic career!) Vandy03, i find it interesting that you were a ballplayer. I find out interesting facts every day that i did not know! Two people from the same family are/was great ball players! Vandy03, are there things in your past that you have not told us about - like YOU WERE ON A BASKETBALL TEAM! It is time to come clean. Tell us about your basketball career! How many points did you score in your career? How many years did you play? HA! HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  22. It was awful that someone had to lose. I know most of the Lady Lions, and they are first class ladies both on and off the court. Gleason simply had some players step up when the game was on the line. The crowd was tremendous on both sides. My ears are still "ringing" from the noise of the crowd last night. Go Lady Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Gleason played great team ball tonight. Ashley Wilson did a tremendous job in the 4th quarter as she scored all of her 10 points in that quarter. Amy Suddath had some early 3's that kept Gleason in the ballgame. Kayla Hudson did a great job handling the ball. Amber Wiseman, Katie Spain, Teaya Miller, and Riley Auenshine did a great defensive job in the middle. Great Job!!!!!! Paige Hudges got hot in the 1st half and hit several 3's for Dresden. Kaci, Katy, and Kicker played an excellent game for Dresden. Everyone got their money's worth.
  24. Meredith Richardson was the best offensive player in our region. When she was "on", she made 3 pointers from downtown. Bradford will miss her; but many area coaches will rest easier knowing that they will not have to face her on the court again. Good luck at Belmont!!!!!!!
  25. Congratulations to the whole Gleason Lady Bulldogs team for a great victory over Middle College: Seniors - Amy Suddath, Katie Spain, Teaya Miller, and Ashley Wilson --- Kayla Hudson, Meagan Price, Amber Wiseman, Candace Green, April Edgenfield, Jessie Hensley, Gina Leach and Riley Auvenshine and the whole 8th grade crew. Good luck against Dresden!!!!!!!!
