  3. I don't want to throw around results either for an off season tournament. There were a couple of wrestlers that I was very impressed with though. Parker Smith from Centennial High and Jonathan Roberts from Beech were really looking good yesterday. I would suspect that both have been putting in some work this off season.
  4. Nick Marable placed third in the 74kg WTT Freestyle Challenge Tournament. http://www.flowrestling.org/videos/cove ... 3rd-at-wtt
  5. The level of interest for freestyle/greco around the Clarksville area has grown considerably over the last couple of years. We had little to nothing 2 years ago and now we have the Knucklehead Wrestling Club which continues to grow. We did support each of the big 3 this year also, although not in huge numbers. As far as pulling from the vast resources of Fort Campbell, we do that also as two of our primary instructors are soldiers who wrestled previously for West Point. Many members of our club also come from across the Kentucky line. We can't expect to learn much from Kentucky as a whole when it comes to freestyle/greco though. They are way behind even Tennessee. They focus on Folkstyle in the summer and only hold a couple of tournaments each year that offer freestyle/greco. Indiana is our greatest asset for Freestyle/Greco in this area. The tournaments around Evansville, IN are only about 100 miles from us. I can't help but believe that freestyle/greco is growing around Nashville too with all the clubs they've recently added. I'll finish by admitting our area was wrong for not supporting the Best of the Best though. Clarksville will support a team next year if the tournament continues.
  6. Don't worry MatCat most still have a hard time understanding that Tennessee doesn't stop at Knoxville. They always seem to have a problems looking into the sun to see what is coming out of the east. The sun will always rise and so will The Hill. Science Hill may do well this year but they're losing alot. I just took a peak at the NWCA website and it looks like the Hill is loosing more senior starters that about any other team in the state.
  7. If this dual tournament does happen next year I will put together a Clarksville team to compete. I guess I assumed middle TN had a complete team aleady for this year. I hope this tournament does continue though. I hope every area supports our entire greco/freestyle season better next year also. We should make a commitment to support at least the big 3 TN tournaments. I'm sure the Chattanooga area will continue to go to the Georgia tournaments and the Nashville area will continue to go to Indiana to find competition and thats fine. Let's just try and work those around the big three so we support wrestling in our state also.
  8. Looks like these predictions are all based on the individual tournament and not the duals. Just a handful of horses can make a team look good in the individual tourney. I personally think the duals determine the better team by also emphasizing coaching strategy and matchups.
  9. Is this taking place this year? I've heard very little about it.
  10. Coachmick, I believe the chance for someone to beat Clarksville High in region 7 has come and gone. Last season was that chance. Rossview will have some great wrestlers and I've had the priviledge of getting to know many of them the last couple of years, but they will have obsticles to overcome. Losing Coach Brown was a huge blow to their program. Rossview has a few self motivators but Coach Brown kept the whole team in check. Rossview made much of their progress last year in the off season but this summer only a handfull have been working. CHS will have a good team this year, they will have a ton of experience. Remember they are only losing two seniors to graduation. Losing only two starters for a team like CHS is huge.
  11. No one in the region will beat Rossview from the 189-HVY weight classes this year. Clarksville High will be tough in the middle weights as usual. CHS only lost two seniors this year and will not suffer from the youth and inexperience of last year. I do believe that Rossview has already found a head coach also.
  12. the finals coverage starts at 6:30pm tonight, Saturday 20 March
  13. I know these are only little kids, but it doesn't take much analyzing to see that the west is really growing. This growth is in both quality and quantity. This will improve our entire state, as all areas will have to step it up to remain competitive.
  14. East and West Regions have parts of their's posted at this link. http://www.tnyouthwrestling.com/tournament_results.htm
  15. The word is spreading. We continue to pick up new members. We're now at 35 wrestlers including new members from Northwest High School, Sycamore High School plus Hopkinsville and Christian County, Ky.
  16. "Iron sharpens iron." Many of the best wrestlers from the greater Clarksville area met tonight for the first Knucklehead Freestyle/Greco practice of the year. We had over 30 wrestlers for this first night of practice and expect many more when the TN AAU folkstyle season is complete. Schools making up the majority of wrestlers attending tonight include Clarksville High, Rossview High and Fort Campbell, Ky. Who: Wrestlers 9 years old thru 18 (depending on experience) When: Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning March 2, 2010 thru the beginning of June, 6:00 to 7:30pm Where: Clarksville High School Wrestling Facility Cost: $70 includes t-shirt, building fee and coaching (USA Wrestling Card required at member's expense) Info: Jason Pennington at 931-624-3454 or email at jlpwrestling@cs.com or David Isbell at 931-368-9555 or email at isbell_dave@yahoo.com
  17. Our paper in Clarksville is already covering one of those upsets at 103. http://www.theleafchronicle.com/article ... ng+tourney
  18. i honestly dont think chad stands a chance against Little 2nd round. they are both good, but Caleb can beat him.
  19. Not sure how my son got thrown into this but since he has. There are two other times Chad wrestled Greg this season and only lost by minor decision. Not bad against the #1 or #2 ranked wrestler at the time. Maybe you have not been paying attention to who else he has beaten lately.
  20. Will the championship matches start at a specific time or will they just be run as the tournament flows?
  21. Clarksville did win the Region 7 Dual Championship last night against Hendersonville. The Region 7 thread has a little more info.
  22. Here's the scores from the championship match and a link to the leaf chronicle article. I had to laugh a little at the first sentence in the article though. http://www.theleafchronicle.com/article ... 9xmt/5E%3D CLARKSVILLE 54, HENDERSONVILLE 15 103 — Dylan Treloar (H) def Justin Morrissette 112 — Tyler Newton © def.
