  1. Why did they go 4 straight downs throwing the ball at midfield? Wasn't Nunley starting to get rolling?

    Scoreboard

Wilson Central runs an interception back for a TD 2:40 to go. 29-21 WCHS. XP pending...good. 30-21 Wilson Central. Can you say looking ahead to Franklin Co.?
  3. I know very little about Tellico Plains. How do you think the Indians stand up against them?
  4. I know I asked this a couple of days ago, but it was not the main topic on that thread. I'm somewhat of a Coffee Co. football historian, and I know we've been 3-0 before (because we've actually had undefeated seasons eons ago), but I don't know the last time. It possibly could be '85 or '81, 2 bowl seasons for the Red Raiders. I know it wasn't '97, the only playoff year for them, b/c they lost to Tullahoma that year. If anyone knows, I'd be much obliged. GO BIG RED!
  5. I did not attend the CCHS-Tullahoma game, but I had heard that Clark played. Did he not tear his ACL 3 weeks before? Or did they think he tore it and an MRI came back negative? I just don't see how a player can make the cuts and plant on that foot without the stability of that ligament. I know there are a few select people who can go throughout life with an ACL deficient knee, but do it playing football? I don't think I've heard of that happening. I'm glad to have his presence in the lineup. How did he look and are prospects good about him playing the rest of the year. I'll let the clones in the Raider Nation answer this. Also, if you're planning on going to the Cumberland Co. game, I've been told to get there early. Then after the game we'll all go to the fair!
  6. Do any of the Coffee County historians know when CCHS last started a season 3-0? I know it's been a while, because we've lost more than 7 games a majority of the years I've followed the Big Red. In '97, we lost the Coffee Pot game, so it wouldn't have been then. I'm pumped about the game this week, as it is crucial for playoff aspirations. Keep up the good work guys, we're behind you!
  7. I'm a proud Coffee Co. alum but didn't get to tune in to the game. How did Hibdon do throwing the ball?

Fellas, I'm with y'all on that parking. That's a load of crap to have to pay that. But, there is lots of free parking around MTSU. You just have to look for it. And also, I never pay for consessions. I just load up before the sessions, and bring a backpack in. They are a total ripoff. [Edited by ccalum on 3-15-03 10:38P]
  9. 3pointer, my hat's off to Westview for a well played game, but I want remind you of something you posted last week. Tonight was not summer camp, it was for all the marbles. The western power shift will have to wait another year, as it has for the last 22 years, where there have been only 2 West TN AA champs and only 2 other finalists in that time! Meanwhile, during that same time, district 7AA (8AA during the 80's/early 90's) has produced 9 state champs and 7 runner-ups. What other district can claim that? Not even those ladies in East TN can. So hold off a little on that West TN smack. At least in AA.
  10. Some conversation on another post inspired me to start this one. I thought we could honor (or dishonor) Coach Insell for his 9th state championship. I've been following SCHS bball for 15 years, but I'm not sure of all the recruits that they have had over the years. I can contribute all of the ones I know, and maybe some of you with greater knowledge can add more. Maybe we could come up with the "all-recruit" team, which would most likely stand up to any HS team in the history of TN hoops! Angela Moorehead-Lincoln Co. Tiffany Woosley-Moore Co. Chrissy Davenport-Rutherford Co. Whitney Tate-Cannon Co. Kimberly Dye-Lincoln Co. I had also heard that the Lonergan sisters' (Mariah and Monique) middle school transcripts may or may not have been signed in Bedford Co., but I may be wrong. Any others?
  11. Can anyone direct me to a website or email me info on the 2001 and 2002 state tournaments, boys and girls? I have all the brackets from 1962 to 2000, but not the last 2 years. If anyone has knowledge of this, please respond, and I can provide my email if need be. Thanks.
  12. I just got on and have been reading the blotter on this game. I, too, was at the game last night fully expecting it to be a JCHS rout. JCHS is very fortunate to get out alive last night, but champions usually find a way to escape. It happens every year with these perennial tournament contenders. Even with a poor game, JCHS prevailed. But someone made a point that if the AE coach had taken his girls off the line there would never have been a foul and most likely the game would have ended with a defensive rebound and a prayer shot. Another thing that went wrong for AE is that when they attempted that court long pass and the JCHS player intercepted it, the AE girl just stood there and didn't foul. There was still over 2 sec on the clock at that time. Who knows, maybe she misses the front end and gives AE a chance at a long shot. I think JCHS will right the ship and uphold the glory of Middle TN basketball, lord knows Cheatham Co. didn't last night.
  13. I got out of my car at 3:30 left in the game, Riverdale up by 10. Then when I get back in, confident that I will hear of a Riverdale victory, I hear they lose by 3. How did this happen? The radio guys said there was "inconsistent officiating", but also said that RHS shot themselves in the foot too. Anyone have commentary on that?
  14. Come Wednesday, they'll be in the Boro! I look forward to seeing both teams next week.

    RHS/CHS

After seeing what I saw Mon night, I'm going with the Warriors 37-33. And I think they'll go to the state tournament.
  16. AMEN HUCK! All I'm saying is that there have been quite a few W TN teams come to the Boro with 0 or 1 loss and leave early. In the last 17 years, there has been only 1 W TN AAA champ (JCM 1996), and I can't think of any in AA except for Westview in '96 also. West TN still has some catching up to do! [Edited by ccalum on 3-5-03 1:35P]
  17. Have they played anyone tough, like Melrose, Mem. East, or any of the tougher AAA teams east of the river?
  18. Is this the 2nd straight year that 5AA teams swept 6AA teams?
  19. Tonight Oakland won 57-38 over Coffee Co. Riverdale 49-47 over Shelbyville Blackman 51-49 over Lawrence Co. 7AAA wins tonight over 8AAA 3-1. This sets up Oakland-Columbia and Riverdale-Blackman tomorrow. See you at the Glass House!
  20. Riverdale 49, Shelbyville 47.
  21. What was up with LaVergne this year? I heard that some of the players were fighting with each other after a game this year and they never really recovered from that. I still don't see how Mt. Juliet could've beaten them.
  22. 13-8 RHS. 6:00 to go 3rd quarter. 16-8 RHS 4:00 3rd 29-16 RHS end of 3rd quarter. Horton has 18. Benjamin still scoreless. Horton with 18. [Edited by ccalum on 3-3-03 7:54P] 44-16 Shelbyville, near end of 3rd quarter. 31-18 RHS, Benjamin 2FT, CCHS still w/o a 2 pt basket.< 35-18 RHS [Edited by ccalum on 3-3-03 8:00P] Final score Riverdale 50, Coffee Co. 28. I simply did not see this coming. I'm giving my kids a bath. [Edited by ccalum on 3-3-03 8:13P]
  23. Ugly game so far. 2-2 4:00 to go 1st quarter. 0/4 Riverdale, 0/5 Coffee Co. from field. 5-4 Coffee Co., CC 1/7, RHS 1/10 from the field. End of 1st quarter. [Edited by ccalum on 3-3-03 7:12P] 12-3 Shelbyville over Oakland 4:00 1st quarter. 9-8 RHS. Blue Buchanan has all 8 for CCHS. Amber Benjamin 0/4 from the field. 17-5 Shelbyville, end of 1st quarter. Still 9-8 RHS, 2:00 to go 2nd quarter. No joke. At the half, Riverdale 11, Coffee Co. 8. 25-11 SCHS over Oakland, midway 2nd quarter. Halftime stats: 3/21 Riverdale FG 2/17 Coffee Co.FG 9 TO for RHS 7 TO for CCHS Horton has 6 for RHS, Buchanan all 8 for CCHS. Hopefully the 2nd half will have a little better ball. 24. Since I'll be home tonight with my wife and kids (I'm saving my "out of the house" cards for later rounds), I'll be able to give updates on this game. I appreciate Coach T doing that for us yest. pm for LCHS/WCHS. The game, for whoever's interested, will be on 1450 WGNS (Mboro) and 1320 WMSR (Manchester) at 7:00 pm. I'll give an unbiased update every few minutes, even though I'll be rooting for my alma mater (class of '90). I'll try to get other scores as they are broadcasted. Go Big Red!
  25. I'd usually say that both 4AA teams would make it, but I feel the 4AA team that has to go on the road will lose, most likely to McMinn Cent. So, I see Livingston and McMinn making it.
