  1. I tend to disagree with you on the Smyrna side. I think Smyrna is in trouble if Bryson get a ton of yards. Smyrna needs to spread it around in order to beat Brentwood. Plus, Smyrna has 2-3 other backs that are taking a lot of Bryson’s carries. Keeping him fresh for Defense, punt/kickoff returns and when he breaks a big/tough run. RB is one area where Smyrna is VERY DEEP. However, if Wilson (QB) isn't sharp and the D can load up the line, it sure makes it tough to run, no matter who's getting the carries.
  2. The "New air attack" at Smyrna is still a work in progress. The QB has shown improvement but he still needs to have enough success where the defenses stop putting 8-10 players in the box. If and/or when that happens........look out my friend. This game should show us all where the passing game is at Smyrna.
  3. Well, I know this Brentwood will be prepared. They are well coach. They have a bunch of good kids to run his schemes. Lastly, they will not beat themselves with silly mistakes. Smyrna has a TON of team speed. On Defense, they fly to the football and when they get there they hit you hard. It is like that for 4 quarters (Or more if needed) The O line is good sized, not huge but they did struggle a bit last week. Need to clean some things up this week in practice and I think they will. Very good backs, they can hit you with 4 without much drop off. The QB is much improved, now as a Jr. Very nice touch on his fly routes and can zip it and there if he needs to. If he can keep Defenses from keying on the backs, Smyrna will be really tough to defend. I love the match up, and I know Smyrna is looking to avenge the early lost at home last year. I’d love to hear from some Brentwood folks as what to look for on your side come Friday night.
  4. I was just merely responding to those haters that think because of what was seen in this game that Oakland will struggle. Smyrna chose to ease their way into the season and Oakland chose to challenge themselves, end of story. I don't think Smyrna chose to ease into anything and don't pretent that Oakland wanted to play Ensworth Week 0 to challenge themselves Because they didn't........you know as well as I do that Smyrna had just as hard of time to find someone to play as ya’ll did. Beech was good enough to step up. We almost had to travel out of state for our opener. Not sure Beech, Brentwood, Ravenwood, Centennial and Ensworth for non District games is a cake walk, my friend. But this is not a Smyrna & Oakland Thread....that day will come.
  5. OP said "easy for Smyrna and Blackman to look good when they played vastly inferior teams." Smyrna Didn't look good. Not to say they aren't good but they didn't look good last week.
  6. Wow! Big game for both squads. I think Brentwood needs to start fast in this one for their confidence. They struggled early against LaVergne and I think they will come out sharp this week. Smyrna needs to play with more consistency then last week. They looked very sharp early then it got shaky. Love the Williamson County vs. Rutherford County match up early! Who are some Key Players? Any thought on the game?
  7. Congrat to Ensworth! There is some Very Impressive looking athletes on that team. I look forward to the match up at Smyrna....but we both got some work to do before then. Don't count Oakland out yet. That's just silly!! They played fairly poor and had a few bad breaks go against them and still had a chance to win against a great team with very good talent. Oakland will be right in the thick of things at the end of it all.
  8. Congrats to The Blaze, Coach Shad and Staff.
  9. Any Beech folk out there?? Or for that matter Non-Smyrna folks that saw the game. I love to hear your thoughts on the opener last night.
  10. Well, it was 21-0 (Smyrna) but Smyrna was pretty sloppy. I think the D was very solid on the ground but a bit loose with the ball in the air......The O look like "world beater" on the first drive then things got a bit shaky. You can tell they are very talented but they made some silly mistakes and the O line was average at best tonight. Thank goodness the D was stout or this would have been a scary one for us Bulldog fans. It's a W and we go to Brentwood for a big one next week. Let's clean it up Bulldogs........prepare well.........and go to Brentwood with a chip on your shoulders.
  11. Thanks Warhawks!!!! Not sure why we have 2 threads going here but this one seems to be the most active so let keep it up top. Go Bulldogs!!!!, 2 more practices for the opening game. Play hard and keep the silly mistakes down and I think the bulldogs take this one. 28-10 Bulldogs Go get'em Dogs!!!!!!!!
  12. Is there any word on some of the other schools in the hopper? I hope the young man can make a decision soon and focus on the task at hand for him and his team. I know first hand that this process can be very stressful and can consume a lot of time, energy and focus which would be better served on class work and football preparation. Good luck Mr. McAdoo and Oakland Patriots. Bulldog86
  13. I was at part of today’s practice and boy, do the Bulldogs look sharp!! This is their first full week of preparation for Beech and they look ready. It would not be right for me to write what I saw but I will say this, the Bulldogs seem to be very focused and seem to be doing all the right things. I think the O-line is still a bit banged up but may be ready to go Friday. We will see. One day closer boys and girls!!! I can't wait. I'll most likely be there when the gate open Friday night. I can't stand it any more.....lets get it on!!! Go Bulldogs!
  14. I'm going because it's HS football!!! I love the match up. I'm not sure who comes out on top here but I will be pulling for the young men at Oakland. Good luck and I'm so happy and excited to soon, be watching HS football again. Good luck with the Defense of your State Championship Oakland. I know there are some pretty darn good teams out there that want what you have.
  15. Is the Oakland @ Ensworth game on Thursday? the schedules on here say the game is Friday. Please let us know. Like to catch it if it's Thursday
  16. Oakland @ Ensworth Tullahoma @ Blackman Brentwood @ LaVergne Independence @ Siegel Beech @ Smyrna Riverdale @ Antioch Giles Co. @ Cookeville Coffee Co. @ Shelbyville Wilson Central @ Lebanon Hillsboro @ Maplewood http://Alt. Games BGA @ Franklin Dobyns-Bennett @ Farragut
  17. Your last statement is %100 on point for Smyrna's young team!!! I feel Smyrna's biggest issue (early) last year was the "WE are Smyrna" factor. They are LOADED with talent but I hope they don't need to take a few early losses, like last year, to get their heads right. The schedule is too tough for that. They need to play hard and let the score at the end of the game do the talk'en for them. But they are kids and a little talk isn't so bad but too much can be an issue. Now a few threads back someone said Beech has a good FB and TE. If Beech knows how to use them, that could give Smyrna some problems. I don’t think enough to win the game but Smyrna need’s to be more prepared for boot plays and the old “West coast offence” type plays. It seems that is what was giving them the most trouble in their scrimmages. Should be fun!!
  18. Not sure why people won't look thru a page or two to find if someone has already started a thread but oh well. Let try to keep this one above the other one, yes. OK. I've seen a few predictions but I'd like to hear who Beech has coming back from last year, who are their key players, up and comers and so on. I know there are some Beech folks out there.
  19. Well let’s get it started this year. Smyrna starts the year off against a Beech team which I do not know a lot about. I believe last year, they won a few games in the playoffs and lost to Hillsboro. I’m not sure what they have coming back but surely there are folks out there that could fill me in about Beech. Smyrna should not surprise anyone. Smyrna will be physical, Smyrna will be fast and Smyrna will “bring it” for 4 quarters or more if necessary. However, something that may surprise a few people this year is the improvement of the QB and the WR play. I have been to 2 of the 3 scrimmages and a few of Smyrna’s practice sessions and I see GREAT improvement in those two aspects of the Smyrna Program this year. OL looks pretty good. Defense looks very good against the run but needs work against the pass. If the passing game can keep the defenses honest and keep them from keying on the great backs, Smyrna will be really tough to stop. So I fell it is important that the passing games gets it going this year. Any thoughts on the game?
  20. I just got back from Overton and the score was 21-0 Smyrna when I left. Smyrna was pretty sloppy to start the game off and it continued throughout the rest of the game. They looked very stout on Defense but had a hard time stopping Overton’s boot plays, much like last week against MBA. They played very physical and Overton really had no movement on the ground. Overton did, however, move the ball through the air but never punched 1 in. In fact, Overton drove to the 1 yard line on their 1st drive and fumbled. Mr. Meadows picked it up and took it back 97 yards for a TD. (Pretty impressively to I might add.) All and all Smyrna moved the ball on Overton but fumbles or dropped balls kept them from moving chains. QB looked good, WR #20 was very impressive (again) and all of Smyrna’s backs look very good. (Except for a few fumbles) It for real next week and I can’t wait to get it started. Good luck Overton. Let go get the Beach Buccaneers!!!! GO DOGS!!!!!!
  21. Thanks for the update.......I thought Brentwood would run all over Overton but it is early and this is a Scrimmage Good for Overton. CU at Overton next week.
  22. I've seen them and they look much improved. They have good numbers and a new attitude. I think Shad will do good things for that program. Are they ready to take down Oakland, Smyrna, Riverdale and Siegel??? not sure>>>>but it sure will make for a tough region to get out of.
  23. WOW!!!!! Pretty strong. I saw them the other day beat on BGA. Just Remember it's very early and these are scrimmages. It's good to be excited but hold up claiming them Rutherford county Kings just yet. There a few good teams here and it’s going to be tough for anyone to declare themselves a powerhouse. Smyrna beat a pretty strong MBA team today, fairly soundly. It was 21-10 when the 1’s were done and Smyrna moved the ball at will on them. You won’t hear me talking, yet. It’s too early. Boy, Week 3 will be a battle hu? Or should Smyrna not even show up because the Blaze will be to strong and blow them off the field? I think they’ll be there and waiting for Coach Shad and his squad. Good luck Blaze, hope all goes well the rest of the pre-season and hope ya’ll stay injury free.
  24. I just got back from the scrimmage. The score was 28-10 Smyrna when I left. With the 1's, the score was 21-10 Smyrna. Smyrna looked very good offensively. QB looked very sharp. Very athletic WR's made some great catches. (2 for TDs) The running game looked good, even when Bryson was out of the game. D. Brown had several strong runs and a third back (don’t know the name) did well with the 1's. Smyrna pretty much moved the ball at will on the ground and through the air. MBA look great!!! They are a very impressive team walking off the bus. They ran their boot plays very well from different formations. It looked as if they could run it all day with success but Smyrna's D was very physical and stepped up when they needed to. All and all it was 2 very strong programs out there but it look as though Smyrna was a bit more athletic and physical today. Pretty Strong Showing for the Bulldogs!!
  25. Should be a nice match ups! Hope Smyrna's 1s can get some time in this week. I'd like to see how they match up against the mitty BIG RED!! Any Thoughts/comments???
