  1. I'll answer my own post. The game is Sat. April 18th at 7:30 at UVA Wise.
  2. Does anyone know the time and place for the game? Who are some of the Va. players?
  3. Word is he's going to Crockett but nothing official yet.
  4. Roberts does not play 3rd base and Hyden doesn't play right field FYI.
  5. Thanks for the info but is there anything for this yrs Seniors that you know of? My son is looking a little closer home. He has looked at a couple of schools in NC but decided they were too far for him. Probably looking at NAIA or maybe Juco. Good Luck tomorrow night to the Vikes.

  7. Cap, I have a couple of questions 4 u. Where is Corey looking for college and does he want to keep playing? Also, is there somewhere in the tri-cities where they can play this summer to keep fresh, besides the Y? I didn't know if there was an AAU 18U team or not. Thanks for the info. and Good luck Tues.
  8. Congratulations Cap and the Vikes on a great game. The Cougars played tough but couldn't come through in the end. Good Luck the rest of the Tourney and Regionals. Also I'd like to say Good Luck to the Seniors at Central as they go their seperate ways. I have enjoyed the year and look forward to another year of posting.
  9. My apologies Cap, I must have been replying at the same time. Thanks for the clarification though.
  10. Cap, could you make up your mind on the 2nd team. Is it Albright or Devault from Central? IMO it should be Devault, by far the best post on the team and possibly the best all-around player on the team. One post you have Albright another post you have Roberts and now you're saying Devault. Give us your final post plz. Thanks..
  11. Cap, I am a Central fan and wanted to get your assessment of the game tonight. I thought the Vikes played a great game and shot well. Not much went right for the Cougars except Devault. He's the most consistent player on that team. He does it all and does it well IMO. He gives 110% night in and night out. Coach Vaughn leaves him out way too much. Young is way too fast for any of the Central guards. It could be a 1 and done for them in districts.
  12. DB did look good Fri night but to say all Central has is 3 pt shooters is totally wrong. They have 2 and neither shot well Fri but they also have 2 good posts, one that leads them in scoring or 2nd most of the games and the other contributes alot as well. After losing to Central the 1st game the Cougars couldn't have expected the Indians to come out slow and they didn't. AA had a great game & Edwards was a force inside. No excuses though the Indians are the better team.
  13. Where are all the Cougar fans after the win against Volunteer? Well here's my reaction, I thought the Cougars played pretty well last night. Vannoy played well, still had a few bad decisions but much better. Devault and Albright looked good underneath again. Roberts shot the ball better tonight. Box played a good game at point also. Harmon came in & played OK, he still needs to play High School ball not Professional style IMO. Hyden came off the bench and gave some good minutes. I'd like to see what they could do with this lineup: Vannoy (1) Roberts (2) Hyden (3) Devault (4) & Albright (5) for more than a couple of minutes. IMO if Hyden could get some confidence in his shot, he could be a difference maker. 4 - 4 at the break, not what the fans expected at Central but still have another 8 conference games left. Hopefully Brown can get back by districts, any word on this?
  14. Cap, I have not trashed Vannoy in my posts, just posting facts. You've seen 1 game he's played in and met his parents. I also have met them and him, they are great people and he is a great kid BUT as I stated before he needs to start playing under control, taking better shots, and playing defense. I also posted one for sixtonjoseph, this guy is nuts. I have always said Vannoy is a good player but he needs to play under control. If not, the cougars may not win another game, except Battle. As far as Brown goes don't look for his return this yr. He has a severely dislocated arm and may not be back.
  15. I have to reply to this one also, IF you think all there is to basketball IS scoring you're wrong. He cannot and will not play defense, he doesn't rebound, and he doesn't hustle back when he misses a shot, which is quite a bit. Yes he had a good game against Twin Valley and was MVP of the tourney but how much defense did he play that wknd? How many rebounds, steals, or assists did he have? I didn't see many in each category. This is not written toward Vannoy himself but to you sixton unless you are Vannoy. I've said before he's a good player just not great. It's a TEAM game and you nor him know anything about that. If he wants to standout individually maybe he should try playing Golf!
  16. What makes you think Vaughn won't let him in his game? He rarely gets taken out even if he DOES miss a ton of shots in a row. He got taken out last night cause he lost his man on defense and he went backdoor and scored. Vannoy IS a good player but like I said in another post, it's going to take a TEAM effort to bring them back.DeVault and Albright looked good last night down low on offense but couldn't do much with Canty. Box did a great job at the point. Roberts did absolutely nothing. Vannoy had a decent game. He forced some shots and had a few TOs but the others did also. The bench did not contribute at all. When you're supposed to be a shooting team and your post player has the only three ball of the game you're not going to win many games. DeVault is the one consistent player on the Cougars roster IMO. Almost every game I've seen he's been pretty consistent down low WHEN he gets the ball. Maybe I've missed his bad games IDK. I don't know who you are but IF you watch the games you have to see that Vannoy needs to play more under control to be effective, when he comes down and takes wild 3s with noone underneath to rebound it kills them. JMO
  17. Central b-ball is in turmoil right now. they can't find an answer for losing Brown. At this point Vannoy needs to step up and play under control. Work the inside/out game with the posts. If they don't find an answer for the point soon, thier season will be over in a flash. NO ONE person on this team will be able to carry them, it has got to be a TEAM effort, no matter what anyone ELSE says or thinks.
  18. Never assume anything, you'll see how much Brown is missed from here on out. The Cougars are 2-2 without him already. Tn High up next on Tues. without Brown they have no point guard, no leader, and noone to come off the bench and help out when Roberts gets tired. Roberts is a good player just not POTY caliber IMO. DeVault and Vannoy leads this team most of the nights. This could end though without Brown feeding the posts. Roberts shoots well but does not deliver the ball like Brown. Take either DeVault or Vannoy off this team and see what would happen. Although Vannoy plays no defense, he is capable of taking over a game offensively. DeVault can play with anyone underneath, his size is not huge but his wingspan and jumping ability are huge advantages. My vote goes to Edwards for POTY. He's a force almost every night, offensively and defensively.
  19. The kid does have hops in a dunk contest but what else can he do? A dunk by another team is not intended to mean anything to you or to impress you, only to the team the dunk is for. Basic or not a dunk is a dunk is a dunk. Central does not see it very often and when they do they should get excited about it. IMO the game at South will be totally different. The Roberts kid hopefully will be 100% along with Brown, Albright should be in shape by then also.
  20. If you saw the TH/DB game the other night you may want to change your venue and stay here to see DB/East. Much shorter trip and I think it will be a much better game. IMO The Hill will walk all over TH. If EAST is hot, this one may be a game to see.
  21. I agree with you cougarfan, until: 1) Vannoy realizes he's hurting his team or Coach Vaughn realizes it. 2) The Brown kid gets over his ankle injury, looked pretty good last night but still has a walking boot. 3) Roberts gets healthy again, has a stomach virus. 4) Coach Vaughn realizes that HYDEN CAN help this team and give him more minutes. 5) They get more production off the bench, Winchell has looked good at times as well as Harmon, Sturgill did his job vs. DB but needs to be more consistent. Hyden has looked good on the boards but is hesitant on his shot, shoot it, if Coach pulls you out because you miss a shot then he should NEVER play Vannoy, ever he's really hurting this team. If you read the post on big9basketball thread, rebelrebelman nailed it. Vannoy is ruining the year for these Seniors. Something needs to be done whether by the Seniors or by Coach Vaughn. Don't set back and let him make your FINAL year of basketball a disaster.
  22. So I guess it's vacation time now in the BIG city of Kingsport huh? LOL
  23. Sullivan Central, as someone stated in an earlier post, lives and dies by the play of their guards. Tonight, Brown and Roberts played well, especially Roberts from three. Devault did well down low, not dominate but a sufficient presence. Winchell showed alot of hustle tonight and Harmon, I believe it was, knocked down some key shots. All around team effort. Stay focused, however, you still have Science Hill and Dobyns Bennett again their home court, and Tennessee High twice. I think you pretty much nailed it sportsfan except it wasn't Harmon it was Vannoy. Also Hyden played a big role also hitting a couple of shots but mainly on the defensive end. Sturgill played very physical down low against Edwards too.
