Westview by 17 and Gibson Co by 4…gonna be a district championship rematch Wednesday night!

“They limited her to 19 points total”…she is only averaging 16 ppg this season. The main thing was limiting the kick outs and the aggressive physical play. Westview has to limit their turnovers as well. They will come back strong

Just to verify…I was in no way saying Westview threw the game. Gibson Co played better Saturday night than Westview and won the game! Westview’s shooters had an off night both handling the ball and shooting. Hopefully this win will just spark a fire under their tail like I think it will and motivate them from here on out to make sure they show up and take care of business every night! It’s a new season now and do or die from here on out (minus a regional championship game)!!

Well Westview won’t be playing Gibson Co or Huntington in a do or die game in regions now……

I kind of liked the Tuesday play last year. It was like an every other day game which gave a rest day instead of back to back to back. Not playing until Thursday morning will cause AA to now play back to back to back days which could effect a team with not a big bench

Martin has an 8th grade girl that scored 70 points in the two games (32 and 38 points) as they finished 3rd after a hard fought tough loss Friday night. Westview should be excited to have her coming up! She’s not got height but can shoot the 3 and drive to the basket at will!

They are a great team for sure! I had a feeling who won between Upperman and Martin would win it all. Some great talent and was a great game Friday night!

She is a special player and I’ve know since middle school that her future was bright! She could score 30+ a night but knows teams focus in on her so is ready to dish it out to spread it around. She makes all the players around her better when she’s on the floor. She’s played with these girls since middle school and it’s amazing how well they know each other on the court and that’s where she thrives. I can’t wait to see what all she does at MTSU!

Westview with the 12 point win tonight!

Sometimes you run into nights like that where nothing seems to go right for you and everything is falling for the opponent. I would take McKenzie in 9 out of 10 matchups with Houston Co. Y’all will bounce back and keep rolling!

Martin’s middle school boys and girls teams (both have done really well this year) are playing in the TMSAA sectional semis tomorrow but it’s during the day at Martin so I expect most Martin fans will make it in time for Gibson co to have a big crowd! I expect this one to be a closer finish than at Westview but got Westview winning by 5 on Gibson Co’s home court

Houston co either hit everything they shot or McKenzie had to have had a player or two get hurt???

There are many small rural middle schools in Northwest Tennessee in it. Martin, Three Oaks (Dyersburg), Inman (Paris…Henry co feeder), South Fulton, the Obion county feeder schools…..it’s really not that expensive with a lot of requirements

They actually have three classifications now in TMSAA which is A, AA, and AAA but yes the rest regarding the structure and set up is the same. Only the champion of each section (there are 4 sections in the state) go to the state tournament (4 total teams in each classification)

Yeah that’s not what happened. Westview boys didn’t play the last time when the girls did so this made up for that. Westview boys and girls were supposed to play Munford Saturday but that game got cancelled

It wasn’t to take the lead…Westview was up 3 at that point

He didn’t get a technical but should have. Girl for Huntington fouled out. Instead of getting a sub, he kept arguing with the refs about missing a call on the other end. While this was going on, the other two refs gave the Westview shooter the ball to shoot her free throws. (Mind you the girl that fouled out was still on the floor and there were not any Huntington players in the free throw lane like required). Finally they got the girl other that fouled out and got Huntington down in free throw lane but made Westview girl have to reshoot her free throws. Not very good awareness by the refs

I feel like Westview’s weakness was revealed tonight and that is their lack of a true post player. They’ve been blessed with a big for several years and unfortunately don’t think year with two posts out with ACLs and that’s where Huntington dominated. However, Westview made a few more threes which count more than the down low two and got enough to pull out the win. Should be a great matchup for the next few times!

I didn’t think Westview’s offense was great either. They had some turnovers too that were out of character. I thought Sims looked shaky too. Alexander can flat spot up and shoot! Think she had 3-4 threes
