  1. I believe Craigmont will make it to the championship. Cordova and Raleigh have enough talent to beat Northside or Dyer County. Cordova's young phenom Craig Hill suffered an injury, though only minor, but still. Raleigh Egypt is a dangerous 3 seed for a team like Northside to face. Tank Brown and Dierre McElroy are solid players for that team. Who are the number 3 and 4 teams from 13AAA?
  2. Northeast and Beech are solid teams, but we're not talking about two teams we're talking about 5! Honestly Germantown would probably be favored too.
  3. In the semis, I believe there will be some rematches if my predicitions are true. I believe Melrose/Central and White Station/Ridgeway will be the semis.
  4. Ridgeway vs Memphis East- Ridgeway should control most of this game as their guards are just as good as East's. East has two solid post players in Nick King and Jarkerious Bradley, but they both play outside-in. The duo of Brandon Lewis and Tarik Black should also control the paint area. If East's threes aren't falling the outcome could be worse than the Southwind game last night. Southwind vs. Memphis Central- This could be the only first round Regional that might be interesting. Who ever controls the tempo will win this game. Central has a big frontline, and just enough firepower on the outside to contend with Southwind. Southwind should try and attack the rim and get Stokes or Clear in foul problem. DARIOUS PAIGE should be starting. He's number 22. White Station vs. Overton- Eh I believe the Spartans won't struggle with a good, but not great Overton team who has no answer for Joe Jackson. Melrose vs. Germantown- Gtown is on a two game losing streak. They were beaten by Southwind and blasted by Overton. This team just doesn't play enough defense to make it out of Memphis. Melrose beats them in similiar fashion as no one on that team can guard Adonis Thomas. Predictions: Ridgeway by 15, Central by 4, White Station by 12, Melrose by 14
  5. Ridgeway blew out Southwind tonight from all accounts. I don't know exactly what happened, but two things are clear. Ridgeway showed up and Southwind didn't, and Ridgeway is to Southwind, what Ridgeway was to White Station 2 years ago.
  6. My bad. Well I expect easy games for both Melrose and White Station then.
  7. What hype? Crawford had to earn his rankings playing with arguably the best AAU team in the Nation. Theres no hype the kid isn't moving away from his stereotype of being just a shooter. It just so happens the people surrounding him at Sheffeild stepped up big time(Golden and Scheffeir) so he didn't have to drop 30 points a game. He's still one of the best players in 2A and shows in Memphis. I've seen TJ play against Melrose, and when they scrimmaged Southwind and I would take Crawford every single time!
  8. I'll say this about the Southwind/Ridgeway game. This will be the first game where both teams are 100 percent. From my last observation J3 and Walter Davis did a tremendous job on Tarik Black offensively and defensively. I heard the refs were letting the guys play more so I think this game will get very physical and even though Black has a size advantages Davis and J3 both have the balls to go toe to toe with him. The one problem Southwind must avoid is letting Ridgeway get on that run that gives them a comfy lead. The past two games Southwind has played 3 effecienct quarters, controlling the game, but Ridgeway, with its experience and talent, always finds a way to snatch victory from the Jags. I believe Southwind is a little hotter than Ridgeway right now, but who knows! P.S. White Station vs. Germantown could be a very difficult game to predict. The Red Devils match up perfectly with the Spartans.
  9. Southeast21, Leron is better than the kid at CPA. Believe me on that. Can score in a mixture of different ways, also is very aggressive, and does play some defense. He's 6'5 with good handles, and is solidly improving every other aspect of his game to go along with his post game. I know he is VERY SPECIAL I don't know if we should project him as being the next Lebron or Kobe though. I expect Leron to go to White Station and play for the Memphis War Eagles or YOMCA.
  10. I agree 100 % Trader. I also think Coach Edwards did a good job late against Joe Jackson holding him scoreless, but it was just unfortunate Southwind's frontline fouled out. Anyways Joe Jackson and Todd Mayo are quick to get frustrated when someone gets physical with them. I'm sure Brock and Kris Brewer did the job for Ridgeway and Darius Paige and Montez Phifer for Southwind. Joe is a good shooter, but I believe he's much more of a threat shooting the 3 after he makes a few layups, dunks, and floaters.
  11. yeah sorry SoSports, we been knowin' about Cameron since that awesome Craigmont Middle School Team. Golden is finally finding his touch with the Roadrunners, even though he seldom saw playing time as a Freshman. He should've played more! He'll get his National Exposure if he keeps his solid play up.
  12. I think Melrose would have the tiebreaker. They've beaten East 2 or 3 times. Its hard to figure out how the tourney will play out though. Central has Melrose's number, and White Station's has Central's. East has played White Station tough both matchups. With Nate in the game I think Melrose matches up better especially if Coach Johnson eases up on trying to Outcoach Applewhite. If JJ learns from his earlier mistakes and gets these kids ready and not down them, then I believe Melrose will win the district.
  13. Not surprising at all, White Station only beat East by 2 earlier this year and East is a team that many should look out for. Nick King, Alex Anderson, Jamal Donaldson, Matt Butlet, and Earving Morris are guys you're going to hear about ALOT. As for first round region matchups I think we'll get Ridgeway vs. East Southwind vs. Central Germantown vs. White Station Overton/Wooddale vs. Melrose
  14. I don't know if Southwind will be the team to beat. I think Melrose returns more, but Southwind will lose Nick Mason 6'1 SG Darrian Gray 6'4 SG Leading Scorer Walter 6'4 WF/PF Do Everything Forward for the team. Montez Phifer 6'2 SG They do return Darious Paige, Jonathon 'J3' Williams, Darius Paige, Denzel Hardy, Jajuan Johnson(another phenominal freshman), and a couple glue guys who don't play much right now. Also Kedorian Sullivan.
  15. Sounds like there might've been some homecookin. Gtown shot ALOT of free throws, but like Trader said I don't think any Ridgeway coaches or players are that upset at this loss.
  16. I agree that most of this falls on Coach JJ. The White Station loss was mostly the player's though. Most coaches would just know they have a gift and let the players do what they know how to do best and call a timeout everynow and again or run a play. Theres no excuse for this team not to win, but I've heard Coach JJ isn't the easiest guy to learn from.
  17. White Station should take this game. If they don't however, the race in 16-AAA will be interesting. Tim Peete and Cameron Clear must play well for Central to win.
  18. Basically keeping the substate format similiar to how district tourneys are. Heres the possible regional matchups right now, 1.Ridgeway vs 4. Melrose 2.Southwind vs 3. Memphis East 3.Germantown vs 2. Central 4. Overton/Wooddale vs 1. White Station So the first round winners would assure themselves advancing to next week. The after things play out they'll play the seed froms from Region 7. So possibly this coud be a possible sub-state 1. White Station vs. 4. Dyer County 2.Ridgeway vs. 3. Bartlett 3. Southwind vs. 2. Jackson Northside 4. Central vs. 1. Craigmont Simply put the winners, would receive a bid from state, basically sending two teams from each Region there. The only problem might be that Memphis would probably eliminate most of the Region 7 teams most of the time though. I don't exactly remember the Sub-State formula. Things get fuzzy after Regionals.
  19. Personally I think expanding the state tourney to 16 would really help. Most years 4 teams from the Memphis area are deserving or could win state. I can't speak for other areas, but I think it would assure that the best teams are really there.
  20. Like Yankees said, Midstate fans talk some of their trash too, and I consider it payback since we have to listen to the football smack talk!
  21. Heard Coach JJ grilled Parks REAL GOOD last night. I think the problem is more of a mental one as they seem to lack confidence and direction with Coach JJ.
  22. Don't know yet, Just saw on Chris Jones and Tevin Wilkerson's facebook that they lost. Let me some info.
  23. Whats going on with the Golden Wildcats? They lost to Memphis East tonight.
  24. What can you tell me about them? I know they were big last year and beat Bearden.
