    12-AA

I would go with Marshall County, Murfreesboro Central, or Forrest
  2. This is good and how it should be. Little League uses the revert rule stuff and for the life of me I can't understand the logic behind it...especially since the rules are in place for arm safety. A pitch thrown is a pitch thrown so pitchers shouldn't get to throw say 50 but only get charged for 43. This will also force coaches to make decisions about pulling a pitcher in the middle of a batter or not. Good for TSSAA for getting it right!
  3. District 7AAA winners and runner up from the past 20 years...history shows a team has a pretty good shot at making Spring Fling from this district. Can 7AAA send two teams to Fling again this year for the 3rd time? 1998 Oakland-Warren Co. (Warren Co. State Tournament) 1999 Oakland-Lebanon (Oakland State Champions) 2000 Oakland-Cookeville (Oakland State Champions) 2001 Riverdale-Warren Co. (Riverdale State Tournament) 2002 Oakland-Riverdale (Oakland Sub-State) 2003 Riverdale-Oakland (Both teams made State Tournament) 2004 Oakland-Riverdale 2005 Riverdale-Siegel (Riverdale State Tournament) 2006 Riverdale-Blackman (Riverdale State Tournament) 2007 Oakland-Cookeville (Oakland Sub-State) 2008 Oakland-Cookeville (Oakland State Tournament) 2009 Blackman-Lebanon (Blackman State Tournament) 2010 Siegel-Blackman 2011 Siegel-Riverdale 2012 Riverdale-Siegel (Riverdale State Tournament) 2013 Riverdale-Oakland (Riverdale State Tournament) 2014 Riverdale-Siegel (Riverdale State Tournament) 2015 Riverdale-Smyrna (Smyrna Sub State) 2016 Siegel-Stewarts Creek (Siegel State Champions, Stewarts Creek State Tournament) 2017 Blackman-?
  4. This rule is mandated by NFHS/TSSAA and should not be on the coaches to keep up with in my opinion. TSSAA is just asking for problems if that's how it's going to be. The field umpire should be keeping track of pitches then recording them for each pitcher as a game official/official pitch counter. Field umpire should be watching every pitch anyway so don't see why they can't do the following Write down pitcher's name and number along with pitches thrown each inning. Communicate to both head coaches in between innings. It's simple really and Little Leagues all across the country have been doing it for years. You will have a coach in a close game against a rival school or two schools playing for something like district title and see what happens....one will have 90 and the other will have 100. I bet "official pitch counters" will be used at Spring Fling so why not have "officials" do it all year long. Just my two cents
  5. Maryville has lost to Rutherford Co. (Smyrna 1994) Oakland's defense is what puts them on a different level....they just don't let teams score on them and if you can't score then you can't win. Best defense in Rutherford Co. since mid 90's Riverdale
  6. Number 1 vs. 2 both undefeated, great programs with storied history, great coaches with championship pedigree, high level talent all over the field. Oakland wins 28-14
  7. Maryville is the favorite until they lose but I think people are underestimating the domination of Oakland's defense this season. 54 points given up all year! By comparison, Maryville has allowed 184. I'm no genius but that's a huge difference folks. No doubt GQ will have some tricks up his sleeve and will need every one of them. This isn't the same Oakland team from past two seasons, those teams gave up points on par with Maryville's defense this year. Oakland is a special team and on a mission!

    8AA 2015

Central may just be the best team in Rutherford County...I would love to see them play Riverdale to see I think the team to watch out for in the tournament is Cannon Co.

    8AA 2015

HUGE week coming up in district 8AA....should see the tournament picture clear up a bit this week M'boro Central 9-1 vs. Upperman 10-0 DeKalb Co 6-4 vs. Smith Co 6-4 Macon Co 2-8 vs. Cannon Co 4-6 Livingston 1-9 vs. York 2-8

    8AA 2015

Central and Upperman are very good and will be hard to beat

    8AA 2015

Well it sounds like Upperman won't lose a game this year so I'll have to keep an eye on them All these teams have quality arms to throw in district games..Should be another great year of 8AA baseball!

    8AA 2015

Central's new coach has been on the staff since school opened and has also won a state championship at his previous stop....I'm not sure you can say coach powers leaving will hurt them. They also return a pretty good nucleus of players from state tournament teams the past two seasons I think one team to watch for is Cannon Co....who didn't even make you list btw. Cannon has played all these teams tough for 3 years now and had Upperman beat in the district tournament last year. My top 3 would be MCM, Upperman, and DeKalb.....I think these 3 are above the rest
  15. Not that any of this matters but it sure does make you think the stars may be aligned for the Pats this year. Oakland 1984, Riverdale 1994, Riverdale 2004.....I see a trend LOL Here's another one Oakland won it all in 1984, 1998, and 2008....in each of these years they defeated either the defending state champions or runner up from the previous year in the playoffs 1984 defeated Jefferson County (runner up in 83) 1998 defeated Riverdale (champion in 97) 2008 defeated Smyrna (champion in 06 and 07) 2014 ??? GO PATS!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Well Maryville did lose to Whitehaven 35-36....maybe you didn't watch that game
  17. Nobody is giving Oakland a chance....and that's just the way they like it! Oakland wins 18-17

Central's new coach has been there on staff and he also has coached a team to a state championship so I don't think there's going to be a drop off. They return the two best players in the district in Sargent and Jackson along with a hand full of guys who contributed last season. Central's biggest question mark will be who replaces those 3 stud pitchers who graduated, but the talent is there and has been waiting in the wings....I look for Central to be just fine and those who think they will drop off are mistaken

    8AA

Ok I'll take a stab at it 1. Central Magnet 2. Upperman 3. DeKalb Co. These three teams should be competing for the district...all three teams return pretty good players from last year 4/5 Smith Co and Livingston Smith Co. has Hackett but who else will step up....Livingston always finds ways to be in the thick of it 6-8 Cannon, York, and Macon in some order Cannon could be wildcard as they have some decent arms to throw in district games
  20. Ok first let's be honest....it's not like we're talking about Alcoa, Maryville, Riverdale, etc here so let's keep everything in perspective. Should they be better? probably.....can they get better? That should be the question the administration should be looking for the answer to...but that is part of the problem too....Administration will tell you they care but actions speak louder than words (just look at the last two head football coaching hires and you will see) Administration didn't try to find and hire the best coach they could for the program....they just did what they needed to do to please the people behind the scenes....some of those people are stuck in the 70's when football was actually decent....it's 2014 now! Are there reasons for all this mess....of course and excuses too. Basketball and baseball players who could help don't want to and who can blame them....this would take away time for those players to get better at the sport that matters to them...and that's not football! This offense is terrible and has been for 21 games....the facts do not lie....this "offense" has been in place for 21 games and has scored a whopping 135 pts for an avg of 6.4/game....are you kidding me that's below terrible and unless you have the best Defense in the state it's not going to help you win games....13 out of the 21 this offense has been held to 6pts or less and shutout 8 times (that's 38 percent of the games not scoring at all) People still come to the games but it's not to watch this clown show! I hope for the kids sake and future of the program that the people in charge take a good hard look at the problems and fix it before there is no program Go Lions
  21. Well actually there are two school....1990 Knox Central and 1995 Germantown (finished #1 in the nation in all three major polls)
  22. This year's AAA State Tournament will be the 38th edition to decide the Championship since the three class system was put into place. Here is a look at some numbers that I found interesting about the history of the AAA championship game and outlook on this years tournament. 34 schools have reached the championship game...Farragut has played in 13 of the 37 entering this year's tournament 23 schools have won the AAA championship...Farragut has won 8 championships for the most of any school 16 schools have reached multiple AAA championship games...Farragut, Houston, and Dobyns-Bennett in this year's tournament have accomplished the feat Only 7 schools have won multiple AAA championships...Farragut(8)-Germantown(3)-Sullivan North(2)-McGavock(2)-Oakland(2)-Houston(2)-MBA(2, now in division II) Only 7 schools have reached back to back AAA championship games...Farragut, Germantown, McGavock, Bartlett, Munford, Sullivan North, Oakland Still only 2 schools have won back to back AAA championships...Oakland became the first team to do it in 1999-2000 and Farragut became the second school to do it in 2003-04, they then became the first to win three in a row from 2008-2010 and four in a row from 2008-2011 Will 2014's tournament deliver the 24th different school to win the championship? Dobyns-Bennett, Riverdale, Cookeville, Brentwood, Ravenwood, and Dyer Co all looking for AAA title number one. Farragut and Houston each looking to add another title Can Dobyns-Bennett win it's first title after two runner-ups in the mid 90's? My prediction is Final Four of Riverdale, Farragut, Houston, Dyer Co with Farragut and Houston in the championship game..if Riverdale can beat Farragut then I think Riverdale wins the title....Farragut was runner up last year, they also were in 1999, 2001, and 2002....last time they did that was in 2002....guess what they did in 2003? They won Farragut over Houston....Admirals continue to dominate AAA

Central has not lost....your local paper just said the wrong thing. They should have said Dekalb advanced to the bracket championship game, just like Central advanced to the bracket championship on that side....if both teams win tonight the tournament championship will be tomorrow and if either lose then the championship is on thursday
