The district tournament will be a little different than years past because of having 8 teams now. There will be no more play in games and the tournament will be hosted at two sites (1st and 2nd will host).....The two double elimination bracket winners will play a single game at the higher seed for the district championship (new setup is just like the state tournament) #1 vs #8 #2 vs #7 #4 vs #5 #3 vs #6 With 4 games left no seeds have been clinched yet...it's anyone's to take!

Have you been told anything about the reasoning behind wanting to take the automatic birth away? Why was this even on the floor for a vote? This bothers me way more than the 3 game series because very few districts across this state have the talent level of 7-AAA and if you win this district you should be rewarded for it.

WOW!!! District 7-AAA regular season champion should get a region birth...PERIOD. It's one of the toughest districts in the entire state, and I bet Oakland and Riverdale were the ones against this change.

Would like to hear some thoughts on this district New kid on the block M'boro Central playing first varsity season this year...how will they do in this district? Dekalb and Smith Co have sent teams to the state tournament recently....will that trend continue? Cannon Co has a new coach...can he get things going for them in Woodbury?

I have followed high school baseball for a long time and have followed Craig's coaching career since it started as a volunteer assistant at Oakland....He is a very very good coach and Siegel is very lucky to have him. Ok....can you tell me the last coach that won the AAA state title without any divsion 1 pitchers on the roster? I doubt you can because it just doesn't happen!!! You must be forgetting he also developed those division 1 pitchers and has continued to in district 7AAA...the man can coach Your logic is flawed and way off base regarding Coach Reavis....you do relize he took LAVERGNE to back to back state tournaments and WON a state title...and that's when only 4 teams made it to state He has taken a new school to a championship level in just 7 years in the toughest district in the state...what more do you want? If you are a parent and he is not playing your son then I would tell you he isn't good enough If you are a player and he is not playing you then I would tell you that you aren't good enough You should get over whatever it is you have against Coach Reavis and enjoy the fact you have a great baseball coach

I would agree....in the past the game was over before it started because everybody "feared the spear" I don't see that being the case anymore....Oakland coaches have done a great job of changing that mindset, and Oakland kids no longer "fear" Riverdale kids I predict the winner of this game will win the Gold ball this year!!!!

Ok I though Oakland had lost but wasn't sure....this is some serious history for these two storied powerhouses

I can't remember if Oakland was undefeated in 1998 going into the regular season game....they might have been or had 1 loss I do remember Rankin running for his car after the Pats beat them in the playoffs that year though..lol...that was a sight to see!!!!!

Thats the point kids from all over the state and country in some cases were ready to move in and put shelbyville back on top. Coach Clark will be lucky to keep the kids she has. From what I hear Cascade is about to get some transfers. Those kids would still move to Shelbyville if they wanted to play for Shelbyville Central High School....obviously you are saying they only want to play for TI, and that is the problem. Perhaps this will teach the Insell's they don't always get want THEY want...Congrats to AC
