  1. Rhett Stacey had an 8 strikeout night, but the game just got away from him in the Top of the 6th. The bases got loaded (although, the hit that allowed the bases to be loaded wasn't his fault, it was a chopper that both the 1B and 2B went for, and when the 2B got the ball, first base was uncovered), Justin Wilson came in to pitch, gave up Oakland's two runs (one on an error by the Oakland SS, but I say the run would've scored anyway, because his only play was at first for out #2, and the other on a wild pitch with the bases still loaded). Nolan Pearson and Will Hawks pitched the 7th (Pearson one-third and Hawks the other two) and did a decent job. Wilson deserves some credit, as well, for striking out the last two batters of the Top of the 6th after giving up those two runs.
  2. There will be no title game. Gibbs has won. Thanks for keeping me company throughout the day.
  3. Wilson Central and Gibbs are playing for the title.
  4. Our penultimate game of the evening is a semifinal between Gibbs and Clarksville.
  5. Our next game is a quarterfinal showdown between Clarksville and Oakland.
  6. Our next game will be a Round of 16 clash between Clarksville and Walker Valley.
  7. In our next game, our hosts Hendersonville take on Wilson Central.
  8. Our next game sees David Crockett taking on Walker Valley.
  9. Our next game will pit McGavock against Hendersonville.
  10. The first game of our knockout stage coverage will be St. Benedict vs. Cheatham County.
  11. The Middle Tennessee Sports Network is once again covering the Commando Classic tournament at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville. Today is the last day. This morning, we wrap up pool play coverage with Mt. Juliet and Lincoln County starting around 9:15 AM. Then, we'll move over to Field #5 for the duration of the single-elimination tournament. Watch this topic, because when we get to the knockout stage, I'm going to post the next game that we'll be covering as the single-elimination tournament goes on. I anticipate the single-elimination tournament to start around 12:30. All the action will be available for listening at MTSNOnline.com. We have had some issues this week with the signal on our Internet connection dropping out (the signal at DCP isn't the best), so, if that happens, be patient, and we'll reconnect.
  12. I wanna know why they aren't at the Commando this year. They're usually one of the regulars there.
  13. It'll probably be out later this month. Of course, it goes through a lot of adjustments leading up to - and even the week of - the tournament. ladycommandosoftball.com is where it will be located.
  14. 7-AAA has potential to be flat-out awesome this year. Smyrna's got most of the same core they had last year, most of Riverdale's starters from last season are more experienced, Siegel didn't graduate anybody, so they're loaded, and I expect Oakland to have a say in how the district goes, as well. Blackman's the wild card for me, but I think they need at least another season before they try to make a run back to the top. Coffee County is always a team to look out for, Dickson County will be just as good as they were last season, Clarksville will be back in the hunt, Ravenwood will have another run at State. I'm also interested to see if Lincoln County can get back to the top of 8-AAA. And, as always, what about Soddy? Also looking forward to see who comes out of the East and West. Gonna be another good season.
  15. Caylee Porter - Outfielder - Riverdale - Vol State (signs January 15)
  16. Josie Messick - Outfielder - Riverdale - MTSU (signed as a preferred walk-on) Makenzie Prince - Pitcher - Smyrna - MTSU CJ McClain is now at Stratford, BTW.
  17. Where are you going to call the game from, though? You have TV, plus WGNS doing the game live on their webstream.
  18. Really surprised there's not more in this thread. Do people think Oakland's gonna beat Smyrna like they beat Riverdale? I can see Oakland's excellent run game wearing down Smyrna's rather weak run D and pulling away in the second half, but I'd be surprised if they beat them like they did Riverdale, simply because Smyrna's so much better than the Warriors this year.
  19. LaVergne wins 42-0. Not much else to say, honestly.
  20. OK, so this is the "other" 7-AAA game for Friday, but it's still notable since it's the RedHawks' first-ever home and district game. Stewarts Creek is coming off a week where they played Tullahoma about as tough as they probably could, and LaVergne is coming off a loss to Wilson Central where they coughed up a halftime lead against Wildcats at home for the second year in a row. So, does Stewarts Creek make history, and finally clear the biggest first hurdle of all, or will LaVergne get off the schnide?
  21. The last time Riverdale started a season 0-2 was 1989; the last time they started 0-3 was '87 (they actually started out 0-5, then went 3-2 in their last 5). Thank you, HSFB Database.
  22. Man, the field for this Commando Classic is looking REAL good!
  23. Yeah, kickoff at just past 11 AM Central/Noon Eastern.
  24. They finally hired somebody: http://www.wilsonpost.com/sports/49-general-sports/10585-braswell-to-lead-lhs-softball
