  1. good solid hire! He has good experience under a solid coach at 2 good stops. Now leave him alone!
  2. Listen carefully! I know that you watch all the very good spread teams in college, and you are certain that a vibrant spread offense is the answer, Here is a HS fact.....you can ALWAYS run the ball, but you cannot ALWAYS throw the ball. The 2016 Lebanon QB could not throw it in the ocean. Sam Harp is a very good coach that took a (currently) bad job; he would have opened up his offense if it was possiblle...it was not! Case in point.......MJ has been a spread type team for about the last 3 years; they started the season still trying to fling it, and they lost (2) early games. Someone at MJ realized that your "vaunted" spread offense was not getting it done; so they went back to smash and dash and running the clock and winning football games. So does Lebanon need a young energetic coach absolutely, and there are some good local ones nearby. Gentry is one of those young energetic coaches with a pretty good pedigree; he has worked with Maynord (excellent HS FB coach), but there are others nearby; if they have even applied. So, getting a good young one is a really good way to go IMHO. Here is what I am trying to tell you, Colleges have at least triple the time each week to work on their offense AND they get to go and recruit the appropriate type player needed for their type offense...........they can run what ever they choose to do. In HS, you gotta go with what is in the building. If you do not have a PASSER (* denotes accuracy) AND catchers (* denotes ability to run after the catch). So, to make a blanket statement of the need of a spread offense is quite simply HORSE-HOCKEY!
  3. Well then, how about the Z White at Wilson Central; he is the OC, he is young, energetic or how about the OC ay MJ; I do not know his name, but I think he has been a HC.....I think?? These are (2) offensive guys. I also keep hearing about a coach from Watertown...Jobe?? Is he the OC there. This would give you (3) great choices right close to home. All those offenses are very good Any comments??
  4. Loss of memory is a terrible thing. When L. White was at Lebanon when Harp arrived; he wanted to stay. This was nixed by Harp (*note Harp was following the lead of the "extremely" knowledgeable AD - Brown). Providence has shined quite brightly on White as a result of that denial. I got to believe that he has had nightmares about his attempt to stay at Lebanon. Now all this being said; I am fairly certain that he will attempt to get the job, and revive the DEBILS. More power to him!
  5. Here is the gospel..........................listen carefully. Right now Lebanon is not a very good football situation. Can it get better; absolutely! Here is how; hire you a hungry energetic coach with a tireless work ethic, and then.............................LEAVE HIM ALONE! Now it might get worse, but..............................LEAVE HIM ALONE. If you must comment about what is going on..............IT HAS TO BE POSITIVE. Now is that possible in Lebanon? Hopefully yes! IMHO
  6. Just now in the Wilson Post. Harp has resigned effective Nov 5h. Let the Debil coaching hunt for a new coach begin. This will be interesting on how many apply.
  7. Now that is what they really need. This will certainly bring all those presently absent "athletes" out to the fields of pass happy glory. Of course you will need a couple of QB's that can pass a football, and you will need some "catchers". Yes, that could be the answer! Old Coach Harp is just too dumb to realize that the "spread" would solve all his problems. However if they spread too wide; they may really get it put to them, but heck that would definitely be exciting, and get them out to play. So, lets start this here.........."SPREAD IS THE WORD"
  8. Run, at the conclusion of each weeks game broadcast; the broadcast crew ALWAYS says that Harp is going back to the drawing board. It appears that the drawing board was not offered this week. Hmm, did he lose the drawing board, or is he simply out of drawing board material?
  9. Did you mean if Harp steps down? Yeah right!!............... I have a statement for you Blue Debils; here it is If management does not step him down; he will be there next season. He is double-dipping in a "sweet" work set-up. Good deal if you can get it. Harp will not leave of his own accord.
  10. Harp is DMW, and Run would be super!!
  11. runtheball Those in the know (once a blue debil always a debil group) will tell you that the hallowed halls of Lebanon are overflowing with talent...... a motherlode of strength and speed. Funny story - In the last change; one of the leaders of "we need a new coach now" was doing this so his talented grandson could be nurtured to the true greatness that was surely lurking in the young man...........The granddad's DNA was a blueprint for football legacy, (*note - The grandad had never had played the game......but he had stayed in a Holiday Inn.) Back to the story - The young man lasted less than 10 days! Maybe you and the moonwink could team up, and right the Blue Debil ship
  12. Please explain! How is that some coaches (ie Harp) get the "well he ain't got much to work with", excuse and the previous two coaches were just terrible coaches that were basically clueless. I have witnessed a few coaches that were always tough to play every Friday night; I thought with Harp's super-duper pedigree and record that he was of that category ----- HE AIN'T!! He is really very ordinary on both sides of the ball I suspect his sterling record in KY was achieved with year in and out better talent + he was playing in a single A type setting which means he had to actually catch 2-3 tough games per year. He got to "shoot birds over a baited field" The highest classifications in most states is simply a week in and week out buzz saw. Harp has never faced that till he came here. Now I seen a couple names mentioned............heck Woodard came into a worst sitiuation than Mr Harp.........*note Antioch is only 0-11 team in the history of the TSSAA, and will retain that dubious honor FOREVER; as the set-up is changing next year. Woodard comes in, and in the first year polishes off Mr Harp and the Debils.............. If ya'll think Brentwood made a mistake..............I would go after Woodard. Just my two cents
  13. That was surprising, but maybe not. MJ has had the tougher first 3 games, and could have won either of 2 losses had they gotten a break or two. Now that being said; Wilson Central seemed to have more speed than MJ; so will do OK in the play-offs to a point. This was first time to watch Wilson Central, and their major weakness seems to be on the "D" side. When MJ decided to run right at WC; it was not pretty. WC did not match up well to the MJ power running attack and made no adjustment to counter it. Was a huge crowd, and a great game.,but ugly parking
  14. You need to ask the real "Blue Devil Guru" Wilson Post + game radio announcer---Tommy Bryan that question? He seemed to think that Harp was the reincarnation of coaching royalty at the time of hiring, and that the trophy case was getting ready to be filled. I would be curious as to how he thinks now. There is a problem there, and I do not think it is coaching. I do think the split school system LSSD & WCS is part of the problem, but am not really sure about that. It is a curious thing that occurs from time to time; it is easy to go from the penthouse to the outhouse, but the climb back up to the penthouse seems to be much harder, and take longer. You got to have some talent and avoid injuries; the higher classes require a bit more depth in the talent dept. The cupboard appears dry for the Blue Devils. They could be the next 0-11 team; that includes a long road trip to Memphis. *note........this set-up needs to be fixed in some way. IMO
  15. I will ask again, Who is the offensive coordinator? Who is the offensive line coach?
  16. Interesting; what is the Short Punt offense? Sorry Coach; I am not as old you..LOL
  17. See where MJ lost their OC. Who will little Perry get to run the Bear spread "O"?
  18. Then please explain.............if you have no speed; why are you attempting to run a wide-open spread offense. You got some big good looking "O" linemen..........tighten things up, and play some smash mouth football. If you cannot whip them in space....'fight em in a phone booth". Old Perry was pretty dang good at that...............why did little Perry do that?? Just curious??
  19. Read my post..............I did not call her smart! Remember the (2) rules 1.) The Boss is always right 2.) If Boss is wrong......refer back to rule #1. Shadowens is undoubtably a good coach, but calling out your principal in the paper is NOT smart. Here is why..............if he applies for Oakland; I have to believe the Oakland principal will think..............hmmm..."what if turns on me"..........hmm. Now this will not apply,,,,IF he and the Oakland principal are relatives, next-door neighbors, or simply great friends. Reason I say this.........I had 2 coaching friends do same thing; was NOT a good career for either..............they never recovered. BURNING BRIDGES IS NOT SMART...............BURNING THEM IN PUBLIC EXCEEDS ANY AND ALL IQ; THAT ONE MIGHT HAVE!!
  20. Good coach............he needs to get Lost Old Dad as a reference. LOD is the "Wing T Nazi"......................"No wing-T for you Oakland" LMAO
  21. A couple of "absolute facts" 1.) Coaches have egos (*note, it is standard equipment)............some coaches have oversized egos. (*also note, egos can get your panties in a wad) 2.) Administrators stick together............adminstrators wince & cringe when they see their brothers and sisters called out in the newspapers. IMHO..........this is about the dumbest thing a "seemingly smart coach" could ever do..........she will have a line of coaches from here to China apply for that job, and (2) years from now it will be "Phillip who?" NEVER call out a dum..ss boss in public................NEVER!!! It is very similar to calling a 1 yd pass on 2nd down in a Super Bowl with a beast resting behind you...........keep your ego at bay, and your mouth shut.....feed the beast!! Hope that it works out for your Coach..............it may not!
  22. It may be beyond the dumpster; I think the entire landfill is on fire! I watched them last year, and they were bad. This year, they are pitiful. This coach is a legend??? Does legendary status transfer from another state............just kidding. The problem at Lebanon was not because of poor coaching from the previous two coaches; nor is it the problem NOW.
