  1. Can you just imagine the uproar if Dyer County was a private school and doing this much recruiting?
  2. USJ kicker was injured on initial kick off of the game. I saw him hobbling pretty bad on the sideline and heard rumor that hip was dislocated when he planted his foot for kick off - anyone have any word on him ?
  3. I occasionally do, but try not to let anyone around me know it was me
  4. Because that private school can get players from anywhere? (he said sarcastically)
  5. USJ showed nothing in the jamboree. Probably one of the top, if not the top receiver did not play and starters did not play much at all. You don't replace an Austin Martindale, who set the state record for most TD receptions last year, but hopefully receivers will step up as the year goes along. Watch out for JCS this year - they are going to surprise some people.
  6. In the west, Jackson Christian plays Milan - don't be surprised if this one is an upset
  7. Everytime I hear this helicopter story it gets better---by next year, the "super booster" will have gone out and BOUGHT the helicopter just to dry the field Most of us "affluent Super Booster" families do it to #1 support the school (IT'S USJ BY THE WAY - you are doing such a good job not disclosing the school) but also # 2 - it's much cheaper than buying individual tickets to each game. Oh wait, the super booster bought the company that made the helicopter......
  8. Not this time http://www.jacksonsun.com/article/20100 ... l-Star-win
  9. "Mr Jefferson" I guess you haven't really noticed but no one really care's about the DII state tournament. I guess maybe I could allot some time to check out some stats on the DII schools & put on here for every one to see how good they are............ oh here is one.....Teams that played in the DII championship games regular season record against teams that played in the DI championship games- 0 for 6 combined against these DI teams. I thought the privates were supposed to be elitist.... (I did, however, like the "Mr Jefferson" quote ) To say that no one cares about the DII state tournament would be an incorrect quote.
  10. And all this time I thought there were 5 Champions and 10 finalists last week.
  11. Congratulations to USJ Lady Bruins - Div II A State Champions ! Great year - we are proud of you.
  12. Thanks for covering these games for those of us that cannot be there - I really appreciate it !
  13. The thing is that with only 4 teams left in the state, they are all good at this point, and have all proven themselves to be winners. It should be a fun tournament, so let it start and good luck to all this week - enjoy the moment, you have earned it.
  14. USJ defeats Ezell Harding in first game 7-4 and 15-1 in second game in sub state action tonight. USJ moves on to Murfreesboro and State Tournament next week. Congratulations Bruins !
  15. Wow a post that has nothing to do with the Public vs. Private debate. Looks like just another pie hole that attacks a post without adding anything worth while. Ok, how about this - if you attended a private school and it was paid for, then report it to the TSSAA so something can be done about it. If you knew it was wrong to accept the scholarship and you still accepted it, then that says something about your character. Signed: pie hole FYI I graduated in the early 80's. I was a kid who did what I was told to. The school is closd now. As far a character go's blame the people who wanted to put together teams that dominated. Your still a pie hole for not addressing the private vs public school debate. Wow...that makes you late 40's and you are still calling names? As much as I have enjoyed this banter and trying to read your posts without laughing out loud, I will end this standing by everything I have said. (Also I have a post just above your post addressing the debate) Have a nice day.
  16. How do you zone a boarding school or for that matter any school. If you were to do that you would have to also zone the charter schools, open zoned public schools and magnet schools. It would be a nightmare to try and keep up with everything. The TSSAA has trouble doing their job now and if you zoned everything you could have 20+ divisions. By doing what I recomend it would be similar to how things were when the TSSAA was making money. With these difficult economic times it's very difficult to break even when you have 8 state championship games in football. One alternative would be to place all of the private schools in D2. However, if this were to be done you should allow them to handle all of THEIR MONEY and run all of their state tournament games and events. Agree with everything you said, but I would have two divisions in D2 - one division that allows financial aid to athletes and one that does not. I think we have gotten to the point of no return of publics/privates being in the same division. Publics will never be happy as long as privates are winning any titles in D1, and medium sized privates have been multiplied out of being able to compete with schools that are sometimes 3 times their size. Our private school went D2 last year and after a year of competing with same size/same type schools, I could not be happier with the decision to move.

  18. AMEN cbg, No actual proof means it doesnt happen... right. OK I went to a private school on a scholarship my school was paid for so I could play basketball. So I for one knows it happens! ....looks like you stayed on the court more than you stayed in class - hope they got their money's worth.
  19. are privates the only one at this not so called school fair? Are there any publics there? are they only recruiting athletes? Our local public school system had billboards rented last year and ads/inserts in local papers...is that recruiting? Just for discussion.
  20. But this is such an easy excuse !!
  21. There are a lot of colleges that would love to have that North line up.....oh wait, UTM already does
  22. USJ defeats Jackson Christian in extra innings 10-9 to win West Region. JCS up 4-1 into bottom of 6th, USJ scores 8 to go up 9-4. JCS scores 5 in top of 7th to tie at 9-9. USJ scores in bottom of 8th to win - great game.
  23. She should have practiced harder. We get our popcorn and Cokes free, so it was a deal.
  24. Seriously, GTFO with that non-sense.....you lost, get over it. Sorry it ruined your perfect season. I can assure you that CPW does not enjoy weedeating or mowing the field, so I doubt he took the initiative to "soak down" the field. And when your coaching staff is still making that excuse, I would be embarrassed to be a fan, much less mention it. I am thinking that maybe the main field just "retains water" more than the rest of the campus because I had the same experience on the game I attended with other fields being dry while the main field was completely soaked..after the game it would have taken a 4 wheel drive to mow that field - anything else would have not made it across the field. (My 2nd grader said on the way out and I quote "Dad, why is the grass around the parking lot so dry when the field is such a mess?".....maybe "retention" is a problem?)
  25. Or they could just pull a number out of the air with no reasoning whatsoever......oh, say 1.8 ????
