  1. Govman, the song is Whichita Lineman. I'm sure it was a great show.
  2. Both schools are off to their best starts in years. White Co. at 3-1 with a tough loss to Cookeville and Hillwood 3-0 with two wins on the road. Being homecoming in Sparta may give them a little edge. Hillwood's quarterback was 4-A state player of the week in week two after throwing for 350 yards. Hillwood has some speed with Lewis in the backfield. I think it will be close WC21-HHS-13
  3. The one with the best offensive line in front of him. If Earl Campbell would have had an offensive line with the Oilers, he would be the all-time leading rusher. He earned every yard he got.
  4. Plainshornet. What about good old Viola? Did you vote them out of the county?
  5. Semper, Wilson Central is starting its third year. They are currently 0-20 overall.
  6. TPS did close. Lighthouse dropped out of the TSSAA completely, but did not close. They are having enrollment problems. I have know idea about Elliston.

Salty, you could not possibly be a displaced Purple Tiger fan. WIth your vast political connections in the county, you could probably move Robinson out of the head coach position. I bet Mr. Martin would not make you teach Psychology either. What is the weekly gossip in Wilson Co?
  8. The rule does state six quarters a DAY. It comes more into play during basketball season with JV games being played in the afternoon before a varsity doubleheader. As far as being enforced, if you violate the rule and the other team knows it, they can appeal the game outcome. Losing a game by forfeit because a kid plays one minute into his 7th quarter is a dumb move on the coach's part. It is no different than the innings pitched rule in baseball. McGavock lost the 1985 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (which they were leading by I believe 5 runs) because the pitcher threw one pitch in the inning and the Sullivan Coach knew he was over the limit. Crappy way to win the state, but the gold ball still went home with him.
  9. The coach is still Crawford. I believe he was an assistant at Maryville College after leaving Farragut. MJ went 1-9 last year in his first season as head coach. With the drop to 4A this year (and with Wilson Central still on the schedule) I can see possibly three or four wins. Depth will again be a problem.
  10. The Satterfields, both dad and son at Trousdale County. Hard to argue with the continued success they have had.
  11. Shotgunfivewide or Paxton or Greenbriar failure, whatever people are calling you these days, if you would just get over yourself people MIGHT stop bashing you on here. Cocky is believing in yourself. Arrogance is trying to make others believe how good you are. Coach Smith, you are trying WAY TOO HARD. You are making a laughing stock of yourself. You are going to burn too many bridges to ever get out of Antioch. Look at the neighborhood around you. Unless American football suddenly becomes the national pastime in Mexico, your drawing area for players is only going to get smaller every year. Let the results of your games speak for your abilities. (That doesn't mean run the score up either.) Your mouth has already lost you at least two jobs. How many more will it take before you figure out you need to shut up?
  12. Just to update spring fling, the final three teams in single A baseball---all private schools, the final three teams in single A softball---all privates. Both girls and boys state tennis champions--all privates, boys soccer final four---three of four privates. Level playing field. YYYYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH RRRRIIIIIGGGGHHHHHTTTTTT.
  13. Sorry Coachtfan, a private school has won the Class A softball championship every year since 1982. Westmoreland was the last to win in 1981. Baseball has been won by a private school 7 of the last nine years. How long do you suppose it will take to come back around? Keep trying.
  14. I quick look at the Class A brackets for the state tournament (sorry guys, this is the only class that public and private schools compete against each other in. Lipscomb is the only private in AA) , In softball---5 of 8 teams are private In baseball---6 of 8 teams are private In girls tennis--4 of 8 singles and 4 of 8 doubles In boys tennis--4 of 8 singles and 4 of 8 doubles In boys soccer---4 of 8 teams If 50 % of single A teams were private then this would not seem overly unbalanced, however we all know that this is not the case. The private baseball and softball teams I have seen this year look more like summer all-star teams. The split is coming.
  15. Mynameis is correct. Any person ejected must sit out the NEXT TWO scheduled games. If it is a coach, they must sit out the next two and pay $250. The suspension CAN be appealed, but I doubt it would be ruled on in time for today's game.
  16. The 11 AAA tournament is on for today at Fly Park in Franklin. Games begin at 4:00.In the loser's bracket---Franklin vs. Hillwood with the winner to play Overton. Centennial vs. Hillsboro. In the winner's bracket final it is Brentwood vs. Hickman County. They must have the best field crew in Tennessee at Fly Park.
  17. Coach VPR, whoever won the tie-breaker for tournament seeding purposes is the second seed, even if it was a coin flip. Fpjunkie, call Bernard Childress at TSSAA and he can tell you exactly where it is written. I don't remember off the top of my head. Sorry.
  18. Illpete23. The answer is no. Just because the #7 team won, there are still 6 teams in the tournament that are undefeated. This causes the tournament to be a washout. The only way it would not be is if the winners' bracket only has two teams left. These two would have to go by the higher seeding to decide first. I would say that the #2 team should be praying for flooding right now. I'm sure that Bernard Childress is fielding A LOT of calls about this right now. I know it stinks for that # 7 team, but that is how it is written up.

If the rain continues and washes out the tournament, Wilson Central will go to the region because of that "unimportant" win over Beech. You have to revert back to the regular season final placings. Are you sure it was no big deal for Beech to throw their second or third pitcher? Ask Lavergne and Mt. Juliet. I bet it mattered to them.
  20. District 11 AAA. In the winners bracket final---Hickman Co. vs. Brentwood In the loser's bracket--Hillwood vs. Franklin with the winner to play Overton Centennial vs. Hillsboro with the winner to play either Overton, Hillwood, or Franklin. Play will resume at 4:00 Tuesday at Fly Park in Franklin (weather permitting)
  21. Actually, no. The tournament MUST be completed by the end of the week. If it did happen to rain the rest of the week, you would have to revert back to the final regular season placings. The TSSAA will NOT push the tournament schedule back a week. Everything in Memphis has been reserved for that week only. That is why the tournament must go on.
  22. The first tie-breaker is head to head, then record against the higher seed.
  23. Deke Rivers? Nothing like an obscure name from the Top Secret movie. Val Kilmer would love your reference I'm sure.
  24. Wardog, where in Northwest Tennessee? That is a big area. How far are you willing to commute?
