  1. fromthetop2 Think I'll call the short one and see if he'll coach my grandsons!
  2. School population really has little to do with it. In 1995 when there was only Brentwood and Franklin Brentwood had 56 players including freshmen. Coaching, parental, and community support, along with a strong program make the difference.
  3. Centennial never has and will not this time.
  4. This Bruin team is not totally unlike the 2002 team. Solid D, adequate O, good disipline, well coached, not many spectacular athletes. Keep an eye on them!
  5. Is there anyone other than IHS and Cent. in 6-5A now? To get something started...I watched the BHS Overton scrimmage Friday. I was surprised at how physical Brentwwod was. They could be pretty good!
  6. LOST.....now you know why there have been zero alligator attacks at schools!
  7. fromthetop2.....wouldn't it just be easier to hire an OC that has coached in a couple Super Bowls?
  8. 5 years ago today one of my sons played in the BCBS 5A game. It still ranks as one of the most important, and best, days of our families' lives. Don't discount it for a minute....all you Independence and Smyrna families cherish it. Good luck to both and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
  9. Hopefully everyone appreciates the job Tim Johnson has done at BGA the last 2 years. I have a grandson on the 6th grade team and I assure you the future looks bright if some of those kids stay together. I remember the job CTJ did @ Franklin and I'm sure he will do as well at BGA. Congratulations to him and the entire BGA program.
  10. Maybe you should try "you're" instead of "your" for "you are"........
  11. As usual....DEFENSE...wins Championships. Ron Crawford wins this one.
  12. fromthetop2...do you think it would do any good to remind the rapbwood guy the vehicle on the field episode years ago was the Rwood/Franklin week? Not Brentwood. Speaking of vandalism, if they don't turn those darn lights off @ night I'm calling in Ernest T. Bass and furnish the rocks!
  13. fromtheTop2.....when did you vandalize the sled @ Ravenwood per rapbwood? Who is that guy? Did you kill Kennedy too? I believe my youngest would refer to him as a "tool"...is that a word?
  14. ftt2....I guess us stopping by practice didn't hurt them too badly. I assume you are in God's Country. Tell the "boys" hello. For Rapwood....If you have a sincere desire to share your son's life and are there to support no good coach has a problem with parents visiting practice. If they are paranoid or if the parent thinks they have the right to be critical then it changes. The key is supporting while keeping your mouth shut.
  15. I'm a previously close observer of the program from times past and have been saddened by the results to-date but I observed practice this week for the first time so I don't have anything to compare to for this year. What I did see was a focused team that was working very hard to improve. I saw some excellent leadership emerging that may have been lacking this year and I expect it to carry over to the game this week. I predict you will see Ron Crawford's stamp all over this team this week and they will play with more discipline and fire than they have shown thus far. Good Luck Bruins....Make us old Bruins proud!
  16. I was referencing your "Thanks TSSAA" post which was thanking the TSSAA for limiting practice time further. The lees TSSAA are involved the better.
  17. Then why are you so hot for it to be controlled by TSSAA? Should they not be able to get out there as much as they like since it is not football? TSSAA has no limitations on the teams getting together at the play grounds and swinging.
  18. I didn't say my son went to the Ivy League. Either way 30 is not "less" than 30. Or did I mis-understand your comment? Which one is it?
  19. Econ major....played a year of Rugby. Of that group several played D-1 football and rugby. One was at an Ivy League school, one to law school, and others are in grad school. I emphasize this just to say these kids can be well rounded and dedicated to multiple tasks and do well in all. Their high school years will be gone quicker than you imagine. The football portion has the potential to mean more than you think and when you look back on it after it is gone you will realize it took less time than you thought. There will be many Friday nights in the future for you to spend quality time with your son when you will wish you could go see him on a football field. Enjoy as much of it as you can....you have no idea how valuable it can be to his, and your, life.
  20. were w You are kidding re: PC aren't you? Politically Correct.....Luckily my son actually did graduate from high school. He just entered grad school with 3.8 gpa. 5 of the kids from that team had ACT scores above 25.....mine had a 30. None of them were terribly scared by the missed family vacations.
  21. Brentwood '02...they probably had less total talent than most but they had "IT" and worked hard to accomplish their goal.
  22. This is sounding awfully "PC" to me! It's a shame! It is obvious very few on here have had the fabulous experience of your son being on a State Championship football team. It takes all those hours, practices, and sacrifices.....by the player and the family. It is a safe bet, other than a full-time coach, no one on this board has spent more time @ football practice than I have over the years with 2 sons. Many times I was the only "spectator" there. I probably have spent more time with some of your kids than you have. I did this because I wanted to share that part of their lives....a very important part of their lives. I assure you no vacation you will ever take can compare to Championship night in Murfreesboro. It is SPECIAL! Give your family the chance....quit complaining about time, taking them to practice, giving up family time, etc. You are just trying to justify the inconvenience to you! Guess what my family did on the best Thanksgiving Thursday of our life....we went to football practice! Hope I get to do it again with the Grandsons!
  23. No offense Cap1 but it sounds like you may be more concerned with the inconvenience to you more than the child's well being.
  24. Probably means BA pays their own lawyer fees!
