  1. I just thought I might add that Oneida's JV is undefeated and they have only given up 3 goals all year (7 games) So they should be good for the forseeable future, too!!!Peace out, dudes!
  2. Teams should come to this camp, it is being run by quality individuals. Please give all the girls in the area a chance to play team ball, instead of relying on the individual camps. Hope to see teams in the Indian gym.
  3. O.K. Two years ago the Indians would have been stoned to even be considered a top ten soccer team. There just is not any Single A, Public small schools that are fielding a team as competitive as this one. Boys, we are talking about a school with about 300 to 340 students in the high school. Several of the schools they are playing, in fact almost everyone they play, has that many students in one class. They have known they have to develop their skills in order to compete, and apparently they have been progressing to that goal under Coach Swain and Coach Newport. Are they top five, probably not, but of all the teams mentioned this team, by far, has advanced the most significantly. I think the Kingston game was not luck, but reflective of how far the Indians have come so far. Kingston was holding their breath on the two times the ball struck the post in that game. However, they are good and we really have nothing but respect for that quality program.
  4. Guess this site has no appeal to the masses since I didn't recieve any response. Oh well, rock on Indians!!!!!!!
  5. We try to keep the players here grounded in their academics so they probably don't have the time to post our schedule, but our scores are always reported to the Knoxville Newspaper so I guess the word is getting out. That game against Kingston was really a quality match with a tremendous amount of skill displayed by both teams. The Indians have made a lot of progress through the coarse of this season and seem to be making strides every week. They are currently 9-1-3 and are 4-0-1 in the conference. What does anyone think about this team? Was also wondering if any of the Kingston players feel we have gotten better or gotten luckier?
  6. Just wondering if a lot of the teams in that area are planning on playing at that camp. This would certainly be a good fit for a lot of teams travel-wise. (Sunbright, Wartburg, Huntsville, Allardt, etc.) Since the great majority of the teams in the area are small it would be a surprise if this team camp doesn't fill up quickly.

    JV teams

This JV team is undefeated and they have played with 10 players in two of their games. For a public single A school this group has some outstanding talent. The next few years look bright!!!!
  8. What does Halls High have this year and is there anything special you have to prepare for to beat them? Heard they were pretty solid club with some good quickness and ball skills. Is Oneida for real at 9-1, thats who plays the Red Devils tonight.
  9. Looks like Oneida might be a little underrated, they do have an 8-1 record for year. The one loss was to Scott Co. by a score of 2-1, however Oneida gave up the winning goal in stoppage time. They have since played a rematch with Scott High and won 3-0. Anyways, I never heard too much about them on this board so I suppose they are surprising some teams. What do you think?
  10. Obviously the lesson here is: Play your game, and don't let the official's calls take you off track. Harriman stayed the course and Cosby obviously didn't. Should be a great game tonite between the Lady Devils and Oneida!
  11. There was nothing infamous about that shot, no questions left unanswered, no rim rolling, no tipped ball, no nothing but net. I guess Cloudland remembers that shot more than I because that just happens to be one of many wonderful moments in the Lady Indian tradition of winning post season basketball. If it is close tonight, don't be suprised by more of the same.
  12. The other region is where you should look to find you biggest test as traditional powers Harriman and a repidly improving Oneida squad have the players to end Cloudland and Hancock Co.'s run through East Tennessee. Ask Cosby and Greenback who they think will go to the "Glass House" this year. May be that Cloudland thought the light at the end of the tunnel was the end, when it's really the Oneida or Harriman train. Happy Collision!
  13. Harriman and Oneida have good programs from a tradition standpoint, and I think it's typical for them to utilize that factor in the post-season to help them get where they are now. When games get down to the "nail-biter" stage these teams don't flinch very often. The other teams in the district are catching up, and they have to get some big game wins against these two to get their programs over the "hump". Don't get me wrong, H and O have both had losses within the district and regional formats, however, these two teams have excellent records in elimination games. Example: Oneida finished 4th in dist. tourn. in '98-'99, yet as the fourth seed in region they ended up winning that bracket.(TSD) Lots of luck to all the district teams as they go to Midway next week.
  14. Sounds like they better move the coach of the middle school team up to the next level. Sure there has to be some talented players on those teams, but the coaching must be pretty good, too!
  15. Hey, don't lose your money games. However, don't you feel an obligation to compete within your conference to see where you stack up come tournament time. Everyone should agree to play 12 or 14 conference games and then schedule out of conference (MONEY GAMES) for he remainder of you schedule. Now everyone could schedule the tournament bracket, with very little arguement, according to how you fare in your conference games.
  16. That will be a welcome sight when all disputes are settled on the court and not by people who's ONLY agenda is their own selfish motives. The only way one would consider drawing out of a hat is if the teams were split into upper tier and lower tier teams based on division record, strength of schedule, and coaches input to the process. Otherwise you are definitely asking for two good teams meeting early. Ask Oneida girls how that feels.
  17. O.K. What should be the solution? We can not have two of the strongest teams meeting in the first round because it cancels out the quality of your conferences teams as they advance into the tournament. Yes, we should allow for upsets, isn't that the beauty of the beast, but the odds should not be in favor of that happening in the first round! What if Oneida had upset O.S., wouldn't that have really screwed up an outstanding teams season. No way O.S. should not go to Pigeon Forge, and althogh I'm sure some will disagree, Oneida was good enough to go, too!
  18. Well, all games start at O-0! Oneida played excellent floor game last time out and made very few mistakes. They probably know it will take another excellent effort on their part to leave the Devil's Den with the district title. The key for the Lady Indians will be to keep it close until the end so the pressure is on Harriman. Will that happen tonight? We'll see!!! In a nail biter Oneida by 3 54-51! Rock On, Lady Indians!!
  19. Are there any teams out there who have been victimized by the system that is in place concerning how teams are seeded in the playoffs? I am refering to initial tournament seeds, because once those are determined, everything else becomes by the process of elimination. There is definitely a team not playing right now because, right or wrong, the system did not correctly place each team, taking into account each individual teams strength of schedule. Why should a team be rewarded for intentionally playing a soft schedule? My friend coaches at Oneida Middle, and his team finished at 9-7 overall 6-4 in conference games, yet recieving a 7th seed in the tournament was inexcusable because their non-conference games were against the large class schools. Jellico was 14-3 and they played how many conference games? Were any of their wins against varsity competition? You can bet this should begin a trend of teams trying to fatten their records by playing inferior as much as possible. Oneida girls got shafted, and thats a shame, because isn't the game for the kids? Oliver Springs won the tournament and they clearly had the best team this past week. Ask them who gave them the hardest game, Oneida lost by about 11, Fairveiw (still playing) got waxed by about 34, and undefeated Huntsville got licked by 17 (O.S. held the ball for the last 3:00 of the first half with a 9 point lead). Coach N. will kill me if he finds this post, but I wanted to see how other b-ballers think.
  20. I have heard There will be a team camp in Oneida this year, they were going to send out information on the camp to all the area Jr. High Schools very soon. If enough schools in the area sign up this would be a good camp to go to this summer.
  21. Well, don't our skin run thin! Lets also examine strength of schedule, my friend, and number of games played. Robbins played 2 less games than Oneida and I suppose they played Jacksboro, Lake City, Harriman, and Norris who's combined record is (45-26), and with one exception, Harriman, are in the large class. The answer is Lake City, a team Oneida defeated, but I believe Robbins wasn't able to beat. Ask Branum why he didn't speak up at the original meeting on Saturday morning, I'm sure he could have gotten an excellent debate from the other schools. You see, It's not essentially what he did, it's the way he goes about it that is, in essence, the root of the problem. Bottom line: The bracket should not of changed because it had been set, and when it got changed, it put Norwood, Fairveiw, Oneida, Jellico, and Oliver Springs in a competative disadvantage because they were getting information (all Saturday afternoon) on teams they ultimately did not get the chance to play. Everything is done, but these things ultmately need to be addressed so that everyone feels the conference is run in all teams best interest. Think about it!
  22. The girls bracket was changed Saturday at about 11:30 at night after the meeting to decide the braket had been decided that morning. Sources point to the Robbins Principal as the instigator of the reseeding because his girls team was matched up with #2 Oliver Springs. The Principal attended the original conference meeting at Lake City and made no comment whatsoever at that meeting about the seedings as they stood. His intentions were to undermine other teams and improve his teams chances, which in the spirit of fair play, is very selfish on his part. Robbins lost to Norwood Monday Night, so Mr. Branum's little plan actually back fired on him, and justice usually prevails. The injustice is that several observers have commented that the Oliver Springs-Oneida game was a high quality game involving two teams that should NOT have met in the first round of this tournament. Some other criticisms: Jellico #3 seed - NO WAY, who did they compete against? Why doesn't O.S. and Norwood play teams from their conference? Jellico doesn't either. Donald Branum is very sneaky folks, watch your back.
