  1. Greeneville up 42-3 with 10:13 to go in the game
  2. South Greene defeated Austin East North Greene also won.
  3. Nice job to the Lady Huskies, Lady Rebels, & Lady Greene Devils. Best wishes in the state tournament next week. Maybe we could have a SG - GHS match-up in the finals (5th time this year)
  4. Sounded like a game that matched up two very determined teams despite all the officials let go (on both sides). Congratulations to both teams on their season and best of luck in the sectionals. All players that made all tournament were very deserving, especially tournament MVP (Ansley Ricker).
  5. South Greene Lady Rebels defeated Greeneville tonight in double OT to clain the district title.
  6. South Greene and Greeneville split tonight, but it might not be the way most of you think. Greeneville girls won 58-52 despite being down 11 at one point in the fourth quarter. South Greene boys won 50-41.
  7. That goes to show what alot of people know, because Greeneville does charge to park in several locations (behind the stadium and in the end zone). Some of which I have heard are a whole lot more than $5.
  8. Looks to me like Coach Galyon out coached himelf again and lost a real important game with the most talent in East TN.
  9. I think it was when Daniel Boone knocked off Greeneville @ Freedom Hall. It was the year that Greeneville had to go on the road to play Sevier County (eventual state champs) and Daniel Boone got the privelege of hosting Oak Ridge. I really think that TN High has a chance against West. I believe that they will need to keep it to a low scoring game and hope that West doesn't shoot too well. Good luck Vikings.
  10. Semi finals: West vs. Jeff Co --- Jeff has some momentum after their overtime victory tonight over East, but they will need a little more than that against a very talented team in Morristown West Greeneville vs Cocke County --- Both teams split during the regular season and both teams are facing some of the same problems (injuries & sickness). This one could come down to whomever is motivated enough to play an entire game and don't expect it to be settled with a coin toss. The best thing for all four of these teams is that they all are headed to the regionals and you've got to like their chances against district 1 (especially since DB lost in the quarter-finals).
  11. Greeneville defeated Clinton 46-40, I think. It was close all night with Clinton holding a 1 point lead after two (20-19). Could be an interesting tournament.

    Surprises

This year's state tournament did not leave anyone disappointed. What were some of the biggest surprises for those that got ot attend (teams or individual)?
  13. Region 1 Tournament was hel yesterday in Johnson City. Boys: Greeneville defeated Dobyns Bennett 18.5 - 7.5 Girls: Greeneville defeated Chuckey Doak 17.5 - 9.5
  14. Don't start that garbage. I believe that West uses the same groupf officials during the regular season and they wore the Rebels out earlier. The game will be playeyd and may the best team win. Best of luck to a local team that has not had the opportunity to play for a championship since 1992.
  15. And well, here we go into the final day of the Ladies Classic and I guess that everyone expected a Wilson Central and Morristown West battle. That was thrown right out of the water as a tanacious Sounth Greene team knocked off what some people in the East Tennessee area thought of as an unstoppable team (Morristown West). After all, West did knock off the Lady Rebels earlier in the year very handily. So let's get this one started: Who has the upper hand? South Greene (who just knocked off a very talented team in West) or Wilson Central (defending Ladies Classic & TSSAA AAA state champs)? Don't count South Greene out.
  16. The top averages from Region 1 are: Boys: Wesley Womack (Cumberland Gap) 180.79 Justin Miller (Greeneville) 178.43 Cody Fillers (Greeneville) 174.70 Christian Knopf (Dobyns Bennett) 172.71 Girls: Tiffany Rhoton (Greeneville) 153.40 Katie Cunningham (Dobyns Bennett) 148.66 Lindsey Bridwell (Dobyns Bennett) 145.83 Summer Garber (Greeneville) 144.21
  17. Greeneville lost to Cleveland in overtime 55-53 today.
  18. Greeneville defeated Roanoke Catholic tonight for the championship and Jordan Short was named MVP. Some football players saw their first action tonight also.
  19. Attendance looks like it is down, but there have been some pretty decent basketball played. Greneville wil play Roanoke Catholic in the finals, while Fulton will play CLinton in the 3rd place contest.
  20. Great run for the Greene Devils. Hope that Maryville can bring another state title back to East Tennessee.
  21. Tonight's games saw Jeff hold off West and East end Geeneville's season. This brings us to tomorrow's final elimination game (East vs West) and the finals (Jeff playing th winner of the 5:30 game). West should have the advantage over East, but Jeff should be in the driver's seat, because they just have to win one, while the other (East or West) will have to win three straight.
  22. Jefferson County defeated Morristown East 11-1 in 5-innings. East left 10 runners on base, including bases loaded in the first and second and did not score their lone run until the fifth. Game 1 tomorrow has West vs Jeff, with a rgional birth at stake, while game 2 is Greenevile vs East in an elimination match. West probably has the most talent, but I would not put it past Jefferson to battle. East and Greeneville is a toss up.
  23. West tops Greeneville 7-0 tonight and earns the right to play in the winner's bracket finals and an automatic bid into the regionals. Up next will be the winner of Jefferson County and Morristown East. Greeneville gets the loser of that contest in an elimination game tomorrow night. Does Greeneville send their ace (Ryan Fillers) to the mound? Should be two good games tomorrow.
