  1. Thanks for the explanation. I don't blame Northpoint for competing in the TSSAA.
  2. I have never known the reason for them participating in the TSSAA, but we (Friendship) played them in the playoffs last year and they were pretty dang good. Also, they had 20 of 22 starters return this year, therefore, it was no surprise to see them win their district. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in Cookeville.
  3. The 1997 Trousdale team is the best 1A team that I have ever seen. I would compare them to some of the Alcoa teams that reigned in the mid to late 2000's. The Jackets were scary good that year. It was all due to the QB!
  4. If Friendship beats Lancaster Christian then Friendship is 1st, DCA 2nd, and Webb is 3rd.
  5. The seeding is done with regards to this district provided Davidson beats Ezell-Harding. Even if BGA beats FRA they are still 3rd. Why? Because they would all be 2-1 in the district and the second tie breaker is overall record. FRA would be 9-1, Davidson 7-3, and BGA 7-2. The reason Davidson would place ahead of BGA is because after they place the 1st team, which would be FRA, it goes back to head to head between the other two. Davidson beat BGA, therefore, they would take 2nd.
  6. This will be a great football game. I am going to go with DCA @ home over the Spartans due to having more experienced athletes. I won't be surprised to see Webb pull out the victory, but something tells me that this is the year for the Wildcats.
  7. FC doesn't have as much experience as you might think. They do play several upper classmen, but, several are first year starters. Also, the Commanders start several sophomores and a couple of freshmen on both sides of the ball. Obviously, Webb lost a lot of talent, but they have a great coaching staff and some very quality players back, which equates to a solid team that will only get better as the season progresses. Tonight is a very interesting matchup because FC has not kept the game close the last two seasons with the Spartans and are hoping for a better showing. I believe that Division II A is about as level as it has been the last three seasons and depending on who shows up to play will determine the victor. Safe travels to the Commanders and lets hope for a injury free game for once.
  8. Best of luck to Upperman this season. I have always pulled for the Bees because my grandmother is from Baxter.
  9. Here is my opinion Tigerpride, but take it for what it is worth. The scrimmage was pretty much controlled by the defenses. Upperman got the ball first for 10 plays and did not get a 1st down. The Commander defense really looked good, but still has some work. FC got the ball for 10 plays and scored on a lead that was really ran well up front and at the 2nd and 3rd levels. Other than that Upperman was bringing the house, which worked to their advantage. The 2nd series for Upperman was a little better hitting some short routes getting a first down. But, on play 10 they hit a guy on a busted coverage and then again down inside the 15 (at least that is what a coach told me). FC moved it some in between the tackles a little on the 2nd series, but nothing special. My comparison between the U and DC. DC has a better QB and I don't think it is even debatable. Similar OL, but Upperman is better at the WR and RB but they are pretty close. The defense goes to Upperman. Now, physicality is in the eyes of the beholder and the edge goes to Upperman. I have to be careful because it was obvious that Coach McNeal opened it up more against DC than he did tonight and Upperman was bringing the house. When it works it looks like you are dominating, but game planning takes care of a lot of that. I believe that it is going to be a great game.
  10. I should be able to give an educated (or uneducated) guess between DC and Upperman after Tuesday.
  11. It seemed to finish up injury free, which is what every coach and fan wants.
  12. Jennings is the real deal on the football field and if he is better on the diamond, then he is a legit SEC player. Mike Jones Jr. is the QB for FC, which he was last year as well, and is maturing at a steady pase. He is up to 210 pounds and he plays strong safety, which demonstrates his ability to play in space for his size. Mikey is taking his recruitment in stride and really doesn't talk about it too much, but, Coach Jones and Thigpen are doing a great job and I will leave it at that. With regards to scoring in the scrimmage the starters was 1-0 in favor of FC, but DC had chances and FC had others too. At the end of the day it is just a scrimmage and it is hard to know how Coach Trapp was subbing and Coach McNeal too. But, like I said it was good work for both teams and both had positives and DC exposed some things we must work on and, hopefully, we did the same for them. It's all about getting better right now, but I do think DC is better than last year and will have a good season. Best of luck!
  13. It was a very quality scrimmage with both teams getting good work and signs of good things to come. DC has a great quaterback in the Jennings kid. An exceptional athlete with a big time arm, which challenged FC, especially, when he broke the pocket. DC does things right and are well coached, which is why FC enjoys scrimmaging the Tigers. I believe FC got better from the last outing to this one and will need to continue to in order to be ready for the opening of the season. Good luck DC on what I believe will be a good year for you.
  14. That is great news for Ezell. I would love to see some pictures of the new facility. Good luck to the Eagles in their new district.
  15. I am hoping for a complete split. The TSSAA might go with the dividing off during playoffs scenario, and if that becomes reality, I hope the privates won't accept the decision and will be completely break away and form their own association. That way the publics will be happy and the privates will too. Well, at least I will be happy.
  16. It depends if team X and team Y are both public schools or a private is involved. If both are public and there is a legitimate change of address from one school district to another then he will be eligible. If one or both of the schools is private, then a 20 mile radius will come into effect, even if there is a change of address.I would assume the rule would apply during the season as well. Very interesting question.
  17. Playerscoach, I have never said anything degrading about DCA. Ever! The reason VC says the things he does is because he loves FC and you have bashed the school and program. I understand your respect for DCA and have every right to believe in the school and their mission. I love good banter as much as the next, but I don't like attacks on schools, programs, and kids (not saying you have ever bashed a kid). I don't take it personal when you say anything about me and I have no issue with you, but let's call a truce on the mud slinging about two fine schools. Fire away on who is the better team and why. Good luck to DCA this season and I hope we are both full strength when we square off for what should be an outstanding game.
  18. Why are you talking to me when you are replying to Volzchamp? I have never said anything degrading about DCA in anyway. I respect Coach Goodwin and the programs that DCA puts out on the field to represent their school on a yearly basis. It seems to me that you have a major complex when it comes to FC though. Why you always bash the school and program at FC? It is to me beyond petty and ridiculous. Maybe that speaks for the kind of individual that you are.
  19. Oranceslice13, like I stated in a previous post. I really could care less what happened and I can assure you the coach's at FC don't care. I for one have always respected Boyd from a distance as a school and athletic program. If I lived in Chattanooga Boyd is where I would send my kids and that is the greatest compliment that I can possibly give a school. I take nothing personal on Coacht and hope that you didn't think I was attacking Boyd as a school or program. Good luck this week against ND.
  20. No problem. Also, it wasn't FRA that was chosen instead of FC. He backed out in favor of McMinn Central.
  21. Sorry, but, that is emphatically not true. Reynolds accepted the game before the 2012 semifinal game with FC and cancelled it the day before the Blue Cross Bowl. Those are the facts and if you are told different, then it is not the truth. I could really care less, but that is how it played out.
  22. Same to MJ. I always hope I open the Saturday morning paper and see that the Bears won.
  23. Played in that very passing league Postman. Man, that was some fun times. I remember playing Beech, Trousdale, and Smith County, but not Westmoreland. I don't believe Friendship will be passing with the Eagles, but we will be making the trip up for the jamboree. How good will you guys be this season? Which one is your son, if you don't mind answering, so I can keep an eye on him. Good luck and keep Coach Vic in line!
  24. Knoxville Webb only has 9 games. Give AD/Head Coach David Meske a call and I bet he would be interested.
  25. So which of you 2A schools want to jump to the private school division if Alcoa comes calling? PS: I still think there will be a split and I still can't wait. I believe that is one of the incentives of the new proposal. All of the 2A private schools will almost be forced to leave and join Division II.
