I still can't believe that they did not look in their own backyard. They have a guy up there that was the top assistant coach for Fort Knox in Kentucky the years they went to the playoffs (5 straight times)(state runner up the fifth year). He was a graduate of SCHS and now drives to Montgomery County to teach. With his kind of experience and knowledge of the game I thought he would be back in coaching this year.

Anthony is playing well right now. He had a little off week last week but for two weeks there he was on fire. Go to the Rangers website and click on their minor league teams. You can keep track.

Any news on the coaching positions open at C'wood and Macon Co. Are they filled yet?

Haven't heard about McKenzie yet I know they were leaning towards a coach certified in math. There was a name that surfaced with that endorsement but I haven't heard it is final. Talked to Coach Ridley last night and he did not know anything either.

What two names have you heard?

For or against it several schools are doing it. We drug test all athletes, cheerleaders and coaches. We have been doing this for 5 years now and I see that it has helped a couple of kids stay off of the drugs. Now after they graduate who knows what some do but while they are in our care they are drug free. We do a complete drug test at the beginning of each year and we have 4 random tests throughout the school term. No one in our school knows when or who the hospital will come and test ( not me or the principal) (they do about 20% of the athletic population)so there is no hiding or fixing any test. If a student tests positive he or she may request another test....if they fail that one then they have to pay for that test and are ruled ineligible for 6 weeks. Another drug test is given to them at that time and if they pass they play. While they are out they must attend all practices and games and be with the team. Our Community really supports this and it makes my job a lot easier. So yes I am for it, save one kid and it is all worth the time.

I feel for you guys at Huntland. I played against Huntland back in the 70's and really thought the gym was big enough, seemed big back then. Where I coach now we only can seat about 450 so I know what it is like to not host a tournament game. Back a couple years ago we did the NIT thing and I thought that was good. The top 4 teams hosted the first round and then the winners went to a central site. I know 14A does a thing where they rotate the tournament every year and if the school that has it that year has the opportunity to bid it out to the other schools. Anyway good luck to you guys in 11A.

They have beaten some good teams. And you are right you can't judge them on beating us, but remember that we start 4 sophs. and bring 3 off the bench as the first three in the game. Maybe we can give them a run in a couple of years. Anyway should be a good district tourn. with them and West Carroll fighting for the crown.

Actually there were four guys that received some disciplinary action from Coach Martin. Each was suspended for one game each. They sat out their game on different nights except for Robinson who had to set out two games. It was a team violation and if Coach Martin wants to make it public then you shall know in time.

The kid has been scoring about 18 a game over the last 3 weeks. I am sure CA is happy he is there. Too good of a player to be at a alt. school. Should have kept his head straight.

Who is in the running for this job now? Hows the pay scale in the county compared to the city schools close to Soddy.
