  1. Amen to that!!! Why would Fulmer even go to California to get a quarterback? You'd think there would be plenty of good players in the south. I think they need to get that Jim Bob Cooter kid ready. Anybody that can make a 34 out of 35 on the ACT could surly learn the plays. I heard them say they were only running about 10% of their plays because the other qb's couldn't grasp them.
  2. Any stadium that has a track around it is not a nice stadium. I would much rather watch a football game where I can be closer to the action. A track sure takes you away from the field.
  3. Eddie has hit the wall! It only takes one man to bring him down now. The hole closes before he can get to it and he has a guarenteed contract. He has lost his balance. They wore him out in 1999 and 2000. He's DONE!!!!
  4. I don't see shooting an 80 in the region as very dominating!
  5. TnBball, I think Clarksville has a great team, a great jr. golf program, and are deserving champions. My congradulations go to them. The Oakland boys did not dissapoint me. I thought it would be the year for them. They had a great team for the last 3 or 4 years. They will be losing to many and have to rebuild around Phillip Pettit who just came off a huge win in Athens, GA against some of the best players in the southeast. Provow also did well there. It may have taken something out of them playing in a tournament like that so close to the state tournament. I'm sure they have no regrets. The "Fish" and Brannen are great players and class acts. I'm proud for them. They are tournament players. The future looks very bright for Clarksville golf for the next couple of years. I'm not very familier with Reece, but he must be a player also. I'm sure I'll be seeing more of him. Over all middle TN players did very well in the tournament. It just shows how strong golf is in middle TN. Congradulations to Cody Hale a great player and deserving champion. Best wishes on getting to go and play for the college of your choice.
  6. It's pretty easy to see that #28 should be the tailback. No I don't go to any practices. Sometimes players play better than they practice. It's easy to see that #28 is by far a better running back. #11 has a tendency to fumble. Franklin would have a loss on their record if #11 had not fumbled on the goal line late in the game. #11 likes to stop and dance while carrying the ball. #28 will run over people and I haven't seen him fumble yet. #28 has more yards per carry. #11 has way more carries. Yea I sit up in the stands and I cheer for the team. I don't critisize. I don't blame it all on Coach Thompson because he gets his recomendations from his assistant coaches. I think Coach Thompson is still a good coach and Lincoln County can still win State Championships under his leadership. All coaches just like players have bad years. Just ask Phil Fulmer and Jeff Fisher. It doesn't mean they can't coach. Sometimes it seems they just can't see the forrest for the trees.

  8. Pettitt Claims Title at UGA Invitational The 2002 Autotrader.com U.G.A.Invitational was held on October 5-6, 2002 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Georgia. Ninety players were invited to compete in this exclusive event, which is a nationally ranked event by Golfweek. From this strong field, one player emerged on top. Philip Pettitt Jr. fired rounds of 69 and 68 to win the overall title by 5 shots. Pettitt of Murfreesboro, Tennessee held the lead after round one by 2 shots. He added to that lead during the second round by making three birdies on his last three holes, including an approach shot on the long par-4 18th hole, which he almost holed!
  9. This can not all be blamed on the players but everybody. This is a team loss. The coaches are not getting the right people in the game. I don't know why #11 is getting most carries. #28 is by far the better tail back. #11 need to quit dancing and run straight ahead. There is no way Cookville would have stopped #28 on the goal line on the 2 point conversion. #28 showed a lot of heart on the few carries he got.
  10. All you Cookville Cavaliers, JUST BRING IT!!!!!
  11. I'm putting my money on Oakland. Pettit is the man!!! Oakland has all of their top 5 back this year and they finished 3rd last year. They they did survive their region which is probably the toughest in the state. Pettit, Provow, Primm, Swift, and Wilcox. This is the third year in a row for these boys. Third time is a charm.
  12. I've thought for the last 3 years that is probably the toughest region in the state. Lincoln Co. and Franklin Co. has had some good players come through in the last few years. These Oakland boys have owned that region since they were sophmores. Pettit is just a Junior.
  13. My point being that the low medalist for Tullahoma, Dustin Lynch shot 67, and the low medalist for Lawrence County, Sam Roberts shot 73, in the district and don't get to go to the State. Something just dosen't seem right about that. I don't know what the answer is but these two individuals could compete for the title if they were in the tournament.
  14. To all players that did not make it to the State Golf Tournament. If you want to play college golf don't give up. Not all the best players in the state are in the State tournament. I know this for a fact. One bad hole in a round of golf can keep you out on a one day tournament. I wish TN had a better format. In football you can make it to the play offs with a losing record but since golf is a non incoming producing sport a player only gets one chance. Regional tournaments should be 2 days. A player must play in 2 day tournaments to get recognized by college coaches. Nine hole high School matches don't mean anything to them. There are plenty of junior tours almost through out the year to play in so you can display your talents. Shoot good scores and build a good resume. Good luck.
  15. Thanks for the information. Clarksville has a great junior golf program. I believe they have a good chance to win the state but I think Oakland has the total package. Golf can be a funny game sometimes. I would have thought that Science Hill would have made it but I guess they lost too much last year.
  16. The Pro at McMinnville CC has not been very receptive to practice rounds in recent years if you are from out of town. I have never felt welcome there even though I was a member a another course. I was shocked that they were able to host the tournament since they hosted it 2 years ago. We were not able to get practice rounds then and we had trouble getting them this year except for the Sunday before. On a public course you could play anytime you wanted too and it was fair for all.
  17. He actually lost a yard on the play. The officials were right on top of it. It was a great game that I thought was well officiated. I thought the fans on both sides behaved, unlike past games in this great rivalry. Congradulations to the Falcons on beating Riverdale and Oakland in the same year since 1993.
  18. Should High School Region Tournaments be played at Private Country Clubs? I'm sure the main reason is that private clubs donate the course to the schools and it's a money factor. Not every student has access to practice on private courses so it puts them at a disadvantage. I think that public courses should be used as much as possible so everyone has the same opportunity to play the course where an important tournament is to be played. What do you think?
  19. I think Brent Long, Greyson Painter or Mitch Brock are 3 of the best players I know from middle Tn that could challange for the title.
  20. Only Mother Nature has any control on that request. Lincoln Co. will play if at all possible. Just bring it. [Edited by Duckbutterbandit on 9-26-02 5:24P]
  21. You're exactly right! Clarksville came in second. Oakland came in third. Oakland lead after the first round and should have won but fell down on the last nine holes.
  22. If anyone has any Tournament results please post!
  23. I agree! How can they be Falcons on 2 Friday nights (Riverdale & a half against Franklin Co) and be piegons on Saturday night. They need to quit waving their arms to get the fans up and do something on the field! When they do something on the field the fans will be on their feet making a lot of noise.
  24. I saw where Science Hill won their district very handly. They are always a threat. Oakland has all of their top 5 back this year and they finished 2nd last year. They would be a good pick if they can survive their region which is probably the toughest in the state. I think Tullahoma and Lawrence Co. could be dark horses. That region will be played at McMinnville CC which is not a very fair course to play a high school region tournament. The best team might not win there.
  25. You hit the nail on the head. Franklin Co. wanted it more. Lincoln Co. was flat. Congradulations to Franklin Co. The FC coaches and players did a lot better job getting ready to PLAY.
