    Mercy Rule

maybe the topic should be a class rule instead of a mercy rule.but you can't regulate class. high school coaches teach players more than just soccer(hopefully) in a club level if you step on the field you chose to play at that level.in high school you just live in a certain district.big difference. i try to believe that one of the differences between soccer and other sports is the level of sportsmanship portrayed even by the professionals. i remember a game a couple of years ago that was replayed because a goal was scored in an unsporting manner.one team had played the ball out for a injury. on the resulting throw-in an overzealous forward took the ball and scored.obviously sportsmanship does not start at adulthood, it is something learned(or not) as you grow up.

    Mercy Rule

maybe tn high schools should be grouped according to skill level instead of size of student body.the schools that are just starting a new program could have time to develop before having to play the big boys.after a couple of years you would have the info to create a challenging schedule for every one.i would much rather have a quality opponent that will challenge my teams than have to worry about getting my starters enough playing time without running up the score.

    5-AAA

nothing personal schnoodle but unless rhea had some players move in to the school district "easily" won't describe any part of the rhea co season
  5. and i can say i've seen 'los score a goal. wasn't pretty and the goal was ugly too
  6. yes there are some players in other parts of the state that are all-star caliber.this is the third year for this game which is sponsored by a chatt area car dealer. if it was sponsored by a memphis area or nashville area business i'm sure the lineup would reflect that.question is why do you want to talk down something that is a reward for these seniors that have had an outstanding year?
  7. i'm not sure if the "die hard clubs teams" are the problem or the parents that start pushing their kids. there are kids that thrive on the year round playing and enjoy the tourney's.but it is a choice that the kids should make.parents should provide the choices then support the player be it ayso or div 1 club. as for college if you can get a college coach to come to a high school game you've worked a minor miracle.they don't have the resources to travel alot so their best "bang for the buck" is gonna be club tourney's like raleigh and tampa.ok kids the part you hate to hear there are more academic scholarships than athletic scholarships. but if you can get academic money the coaches can save money and may be more apt to help you get in to a better program.
  8. the people u named that might be coming out next year for mcminn, i know of winfield and cardin have talked a little about it .don't get all fired up about kids who haven't played club soccer for awhile.only playing at school maybe be good enough for the district but as we have seen the state is a whole different story.as for hicks and runyan i haven't heard anything. I myself havent heard anything about hicks dad helping develop any of our players, I would have to give that credit to people like Curtis Blair and Tom Condone, but over all it will be a good year next year with some work.
  9. must've been a large ball for both players to get all ball.
  10. josh you must be really bored
  11. do they have one for the chattanooga area and one for just chattanooga?or is there only one list?the list that ndirish posted is different than the one i heard parts of.

    goles

wow i thought the knoxville fire (his club team) were a top club team
  13. after seeing soddy and mcminn play for the 7th or 8th time in the last 5 years i am amazed at all the ruckus about fans. what is the point of a home field advantage? i agree that racial slurs should never be condoned but as to loud and rowdy fans go at it.i think the problem is that some people dont' let go when the game is over. players play hard , fans cheer hard and coaches get gray hairs but when the final whistle goes it's over. go shake hands appreciate the efforts and go on with your life.
