  1. Is this the same Flight team that got beat early in the Memphis tourney last weekend? Where were all the updates on that showcase?
  2. Flight parents might not be the best source of information when it comes to making that judgement. Typically at a "shoe tournament" there are 4 divisions and nobody knows (or cares) who wins. BTW, A parent from Dayton told me they only lost by single digits to Flight. The fact that the best player on a Tennessee team is from North Carolina is a great example of why the "shoe tournaments" are what they are....an excellent place to be evaluated individually but not a good meter for judging team play. AAU is the better forum for team play as well as a strong opportunity to be seen by evaluators. Both are viable options for 14-17 yr old student athletes to be put in front of college coaches but AAU has more structure and regulations(as well as clear cut winners)...something the "shoe tournaments" lack.

  6. Sounds like loser talk and excuses wrapped into a backhanded compliment. A person can make the stats say anything they want but the reality of it is the Flight took jump shots the whole game and Pride penetrated and drew fouls on the slower Flight team. 8 of the FT's were in the last minute of the game when Flight had to foul. Flight's coaches never made an adjustment to change how the game was played and were satisfied to shoot 3's the whole game. Jimbo44 was there he can verify the facts. Since in the shoe tournaments nobody cares who wins and its all about the exposure the Flight will do OK.
  7. I would think a day of rest would "look" very mild compared to an AAU coach pushing another AAU coach in the chest at the Memphis 11u/15u state tournament or the same AAU coach being involved in a physical altercation with a referee(which finally led to his coaching dismissal) at their very own Showtime Classic. Something about a kettle and a pot comes to mind.
  8. Great Job 12u TN Wings. Your team fought back hard in the finals and had two shots in the last 7 seconds to bring home the championship. Well coached and well played.
  9. How did the Angels do against that little 9u team?

  11. 9u and D-2 brackets are now available at Tennessee Team Pride . The 12u bracket will be posted soon.
  12. The brackets for the AAU state tournamnets can be seen at Tennessee Team Pride All the speculation will be over soon. Good luck to all the teams.
  13. 10u tournament went smooth. The top 5 teams were separated by just a few points. Top two teams did make it to the finals. Good job W TN Tigers and Andre.
  14. The scores are at www.TennesseeTeamPride.com and www.Hooptown.net . Here are a few scores 10u Express 36 Tn Pride 20 12u Top Guns 69 Dayton Metros 62 Fury 47 Tn Tigers 46
  15. I too happen to see the 15u Super Regional game last year in Murfreesboro. I believe your memory is bad or you were mistaken about your facts. Instead of trying to deflect the heat you are receiving from your tournament to someone else just accept the comments and try to improve your image. If indeed you are the coach for the Sports Shop team then I would hope you could conduct yourself with more class on this message board.
  16. I keep reading there are 74 teams registered at the SRT; however, when I count the teams in the brackets it adds up to 55. Maybe its that Twilght Zone Shelbyville math. They always seem to stretch the truth and numbers until its in their favor.
  17. A- LaCondra Mason AA- Jana Cross AAA-Alysha Clark
  18. No reason to laugh at the post.....Last season when Mooney went head to head with McMahon in AAU the Hillsboro High student/athlete definetly won that battle. Jimbo didn't you witness that match-up in Lebanon last year? Mooney can play anywhere she wants to. Both young ladies are the cream of the '06 crop.
  19. This game was over by the time the 4th quarter started. Smyrna's Oliver fouled out early in the fourth(on a charge) and Gassie followed her soon. O'Connel left a few minutes later with 5 fouls. Smyrna had too much speed and depth for a depleted Wilson Co. Maybe things will be different when the two meet in the district semis. The victory tonight assured Smyrna second in the district(behind the talented Mt Juliet). The district tournament will be at Wilson.
  20. The Burros have a solid starting 5. Four of the five played with the Tennessee Team Pride basketball club last summer. The 5th and 6th players are solid complimentry teammates. Couple their depth with the fact that they play a fairly easy district schedule and it allows them compile a great record. They did have some challenges from an above average Riverdale and Beech but , even these teams are down from years past. The Burros will have a tough time when they play the Mt Juliets, Oaklands or Columbias of the world. Overall one of the best teams metro has seen in a long while.
  21. Try this site for Team Pride www.TennesseeTeamPride.com Jimbo, I think Tisdal was hurt in the '04 AAU season.
  22. Wilson missed enough FT's to win the game:however, MJ's slow down style let Wilson hang around (even without WC's other post player). MJ has depth (they lose very little talent with their first 2 or 3 off the bench) but, shortening the game doesn't allow them to utilized it completely. Even so, MJ is by far the best team in TN. The crowd was huge. The firemarshal would have shut it down.
  23. Let's also add Alysha Clark, Brandy Brown and Jessica Mooney to the nominee list. Does the girl at Lewis Co have her own publisist? Because there is an abundance of posting about her. Just because Cait committed to Tennessee does NOT mean they have committed to her. I'm sure Coach Summitt would love to have her but, I'm just stating the facts. Cait is a great player as is Dudley and the above mentioned players.
  24. Mariam McCallister at David lipscomb High is also a great shot blocker. The Mustang senior has decided to stay at Lipscomb and play her college ball for Coach Bennett the next 4 years.
  25. Smyrna Bulldogs handed Shelbyville a loss but, it was closer than it should have been. The Bulldogs shot about 2 - 18 from the 3 pt line which allowed Shelbyville to hang around. Shelbyville actually tied it up late in the 4th quarter but Smyrna pulled away by 7 in the end. While Smyrna has the talent. They will have to step it up if they expect to compete with district foes Mt Juliet and Wilson Cent. Insell and staff will have the Eagles playing better at the end of the year but, they do not look good at this point of the season. I thought I'd seen it all in my lifetime when the Red Sox won the World series. However, Smyrna girls beating the giant Shelbyville Eaglettes is another example of why sports are so great and how things change. As good as Shelbyville has been in the past...Smyrna has been that bad. Some seasons winning 2 games. Will this game be a stepping stone for the previously outclassed Smyrna team? Only time will tell.
