Since I will have to get my baseball fix most of the upcomeing season from HS ball. Which 8 teams does eveyone think will make it to Memphis this season. I kow that there are many programs that always make a run at th post season but I think that 2004 was a special year. The 2004 class IMHO was the strongest in a great number of years so I would expect to see some new faces this season. I know that Goodpasture,Rcokwood, Mt. Pleasant lost a lot of seniors, not sure about USJ. DA has a few kids that are seniors this year that are fine players, I realy like the Heath kid, great hitter. Does any one know of a team that they think will break into the top 8 .

Brad Cobb, Michael McGee, Eric Diaz, Danny Pully,Justin Sturdavant,Corey Herbert and some kid named Hooper Lets not leave off the basebal team !

I have to second BNA's post, Goodpasture will have a very good team next year. Coach Estep did what he could to get the underclassmen pitching and playing time. As BNA said if these boys use this summer to build on this past seasons performance they will be a very good team.

Well I'm sorry you seem to think everyone is wrong and you are right. I know for a fact that Goodpasture and USJ are great teams. I'm glad to say my son is on one of them. I do know what they said about breaking legs because my husband was there and heard everything Tuesday. I knew it was going to be tough between USJ and Goodpasture. That's what makes a great game. Not the parents arguing back and forth. All teams should be happy that they made to to state tournament. I wish all who is left in it good luck. They have all worked hard.

I am on under my husbands name just to let everyone know. Goodpasture is a top notch team and very competitive. Which is what should be if you play sports. It sounds like to me Jay Moreland was doing his job as a catcher and should not be put down for that. I know for a fact that he is a very good catcher and knows what he is supposed to do. I really wish everyone would quit blowing this all out of proportion and let the teams have a great tournament. Goodpasture players and coaches have worked very hard to get where they have and they have great parents backing them where ever they go. I am very proud of them on and off the field! Our team has not yelled to break USJ players legs. That tells me they have alot of class. If you don't know Goodpasture first hand, then don't believe everything you hear. Nobodys son is ever a complete angel and some parents need to remember that. Keep up the good work Goodpasture!!!!

Ok well lets see since we are christians we are supposed to meekly let USJ win ... not gonna happen we come to play and want every team we play to do the same. we will give it our best and be glad to shake their hand when the game is over. I have known Jay moreland since he was 13 years old and you will not find a finer young man! As for his father taking care of him lol now that is a dumb statement his father has raised Jay to speak his mind , stand up and do the right thing. Veercoach has descibed what happend so I will not repeat it, but lets look at what happend. The ump had not warned Jay for anything he had said or done which means he had done nothing out of line, end of story. It dosen't matter What the USJ players ,coaches or parents think about him or his comments. bottom line and this is true in just about all cases such as this ,USJ was getting their hat handed to them and shown the door and dident like it, moreland got in the batters box got hit on purpose and laughed at the pitcher and then started to first. up to this point no problem thats baseball. When the USJ players went after Jay I guess they thought he was going to back down or apologize for getting in their heads. lol I have never seen Jay Moreland back down from anyone and dont think I will any time soon. Now at the point the USJ players surronded Jay, only a fool would think he would not get the support he deseves from his team mates, I guarantee that he will not be alone when he is in such a situation. Oh I forgot This is USJ we are talking about and our boys should have meekly stayed in the dug out and left their teammate to fend for himself. lol I know these boys and just smile when I think about that happening. I myself heard the USJ players shout in the first game for their fielder to " break his leg " yea class act! Goodpasture has played USJ before , we lost, shook thier hand, and went home and worked to get better. well that day is here we are better and we are not the ones going home.

tice hit one in lebanon, porter has hit at least 1 McCool has hit 2 , lol shoot cant think of the other names. OK son told me some other boys hit a few but that they where pre season or practice. the 3 above where in season though. I also think that GP has had a good number of grand slams.

I dont know the number but Goodpasture has quite a few HR. I tried to count the number of players on the team who had hit dingers I belive it is 14 or 15 of the players who have hit at least 1 HR and most have more than 1.

Hi david, wish I had known ou where at riverdale for the marshall game, I was there and would have loved to meet you. Goodpasture played marshall in the next game so I go tthere early and watched the game . great tournament with alot of great teams.

Why would you think that there would be a need for a private school to be located near Riverdale, oakland { Rutherford Acdy.} I thought from reading many of the posts that the main complaint was that private schools get students { football players } from huge areas. So why would they need to open a new school close to those kids to get them to attend? I belive you are right though a private would need to be much closer to thses kids before they would consider attending.

Well HV I think you might know but if not, it was John who pitched for Goodpasture against WB he said he felt like he threw a good game but just did not come up with a win. I asked him was the team that beat him good and he said lol better than us that day, I thought I would get on coach T and ask about them. thanks for the info. As for Farragut , man I have been hearing a lot of good things about them, John said he would love a shot at them which I think is great. You know it never hurts a team to give another team the credit they deserve. WB and farragut you guy's have great teams congratulations.

Goodpasture baseball has done well the last 2 days Friday they had a win against FRA 11-10. Sat. they had wins against Friendship christian 9-5 and coulmbia acadmey 14-5 . CoachT if you happen to read this Goodpasture had a win against MT.juilet in the warrior tourny but it is not listed. I have noticed some teams with records like 23 and 3, man we have had so many rain outs and at the first of the season snow outs we have played no where near that many games.

On the 29th in the warrior classsic the goodpasture cougars won against Mt. juliet, GP 9 MJ 7 in their first game that day and then also won against smyrna in their 2ed game GP 7 smyrna 6 I noticed these games where not listed on the win loss boards.

I am almost to hesatiant to post to this thread but here goes, I would be intersted to get ideas about what people consider an illeagal transfer. yes I know it is up to the tssaa and to the 2 schools invloved, but there must be a problem somewhere or there would not be a need for the p-v-p board. I have seen discussion about kids transfering from 1 public to another because a class was offerd at the school that was not avalibale in the former school. I would say thats fine with me and even if he is nolan ryan let him play baseball. seems to me you should take athletics out consideration. If a child has a legitamte reason to transfer let him and let him play sports. even if it is in the middle of the school year. If you use the standerd of {legitamte reason } to transfer there would be very few reasons not to let a child play sports. where the problem comes is that certain schools attract the best players. I will not argue that some schools and coaches do ATTRACT or recruit the better players in sports. If that school or coach truly does offer that student a better chance at a scholarship or maybe just the chance to attend a little better college then he would otherise be able to I would be happy for him.Maybe this comes from my feeling that no, the HS team does not always come before the induvidual. boy I bet I get blasted for that one. what I mean to say is when a player is on a team he should be loyal to that team, placing the teams needs above his own. but when he makes a choice to be on another team he should be loyal to that team. I dont see kids switching teams every year 2 and 3 times a year kids and parents just dont work that way. maybe I have rose colored galsses on but kids dont give their loyalty that esay and when they do they dont change it at the first sign of rough times for the team. If a team ,coach,school anything can not hold a kids loyalty let him go. TRULY wish him the best and even help him after he has left your program if you can. Now does this adress the problem of the smaller schools playeing schools that they cant compete with , no that has to be handeld at the tssaa but as far as what school kids should be able to play at ... what ever school they attend any grade any time of the year. If athletics are a big part of the high school experince then what school you attend should not matter , who you compete against does matter.

Hi bighurt, now remember I am not the coach and dont get to call the shots but who do I think will get to pitch. Michele McGee, great lefty with a nasty breaking ball, Austin tice another lefty I only got to see him once but he looked great had some good velo. and good breaking ball. brad cobb will prob. get some innings but he will be at short every game makes it tough to pitch at the expence of loseing your short stop. Eric Diaz havent gotten to see him much but seems like he has put on some size and would therefore have gained some velo. I will get on that plus membership I promise.

I would like to have people consider that any plan that is implemented would have controls, but in the end all systems come down to the honor of its members. any system can be cheated on. I think the vast Majority of schools abide by the rules. I do not think that a system could be devised that is CHEAT proof.I think that an attitude by all conserned that any plan that is addopted will be honestly follwed by all the schools, would go a long way to solving many of the problems we read about in these threads. Maybe one of the reasons we read so much about mistrust of private schools is that, not enough games are played between publics and privates during the reguler seasons.

fellow posters I feel the need to express my consern about what I percive as a lack of leadership. I read in a past article where Mr. Carter made a comment to effect public schools had not thought through the ramifications of a split. I may be Interpiting this wrong but it seemed like a leading coment where schools might be given a split the baby choice. At this point I am not sure that the principals might not just say that will be fine with us. I am hartend by the individuals that I come in contact with on these boards who make an attempt to logicaly reason through an equitable solution. I have latly tried to position my posts as a foil to discussion of a positive nature. I find satifaction in trying to draw insightful posts from others. Many of you are VERY intelligent and from what I gather from your post truly want to have the finest sports and education programs in the country, is that not the goal, to provide the best that we possibily can for all of the childern of Tennessee I would like all posters to remember we are talking about one of the most important times in our childerns lives, my child your child, Tennessee's childern. so for you posters who who may have better resourses or more experince or insights into ALL high school issues I demand your best efforts. When I study the situation with the TSSAA the BA case, the fact that the TSSAA has rightly tabled the proposal to split. I belive a window is comeing for people such as your self to have a voice. I have one small bit to add to I hope alleviate what I alone belive is a misconception. In my experience. I belive that all of the very finest athalets take no pleasure in defeating a team that has no chanceainst them. They are there to win will do their best . I am not speaking to wether its fair,right,wrong etc. I am jsut saying that I know that at least my son has walked away from games where he knew that the other team had no chance with a great respect for the other team, they play they do their best and show their quality of charecter. My son also has quality of charecter and takes no pleasure in defeating an opponet who is at such an disadvantage he cant win,but he will do his job. his job is to do his best just as ours is to do our best.

I have read this thread over and over, posts this good by people this learned are great. every time I read I glen something new. I am a man of average intelligence and consider my self a fairly good problem solver but when I try to form a theory, or logical idea of why I belive as you do that all the schools should be together in some way I find I dont have the words. I have seen posted on this board by some the words { why do you care you will have your league and we will have ours} I am not attributing this to any one person it is just a common theme. I lack the wit to logicaly respond except to say in general I belive in inclusion not exclusion. I look at the last sentence and think, how insuficeint it is. I deeply feel that to stay together is best for the kids but lack the tools to explain why. your use of the term "emotiv reasoning" struck a cord with me, When I look through the post I see just what you are saying. on a side note the fact that you laughed when reading my post is one of the best complments you could give me. You took my post to hart I hope, but read the humor I try to inject into every part of my life.I belive if you want to have a good life have a good sence of humor.

Mr Dingo, Your reply was very kind and too humble, you see I am such fertile ground for improvment I can use you and Clarence to keep me on my toes besides Clarence has taken a job in Alaska heading up a rehabilitation program for Eskimos { no kidding} I just wanted you to know that your posts are doing at least in my case just what is needed, promoting thoughtful discussion. You see I have a bad flaw I love to argue and sometimes I get so caught up in proveing I am right maybe I lose sight of the fact that what is needed is a solution and not for me to win.
