I for one am tired of hearing everytime OS loses it is the refs fault. Just once admit you got beat. Its easy to blame someone else for everything but it takes class to admit you got beat. Remember at this time of the year you have to be at your best or you will get beat.

No shot clock for high school. As far as comparing college and aau get real no comparing. In aau ball if you have the strongest and biggest team you will win. It wouldn't matter if you had a shot clock or not. The reason high school dosn't use it is because it's high school. The reason college uses the shot clock is to speed the game up to generate more intrest for fans and TV. (MONEY). In high school do you really think it will help draw more fans or make schools more money, I doubt it so lets leave it the way it is.

where in the rule book does it say to only call fouls if it gives the other team the edge. I've looked all day and haven't found it. Would you please inlighten us were it is at. thanks.

Let's say you moved softball to the fall. Soccer and softball participation would be split up and it would hurt both especially at the smaller schools. As for tournements just about every school holds one and playing softball on Friday night up against football no way, it won't happen. Alot of softball coaches are either vollyball coaches or assitant football coaches so their would be a conflict with that. The way I see it it will never happen for the betterment of girls sports. The way it's set up is the best way so girls can participate in sports year round. As for as being behind the other states in this as far as fall softball, most of them do not have girls soccer. Plus their is fall leagues for girls that don't play soccer so be happy with the way it is and lets move on.

Who do you think in the last 2 years they could have beaten in the dist. This district has so much talent it would be hard for anyone to win without the big post players and an excellant point guard. Just look who has won games in the district the last 2 years they have post players and point guards. So why don't you-all layoff and let the kids play and the coach, coach. As far as Roy goes let it alone. He resigned and isn't the coach anymore, so let it go. Yes he won back to back state titles. Something that is very hard to do. It wouldn't matter who is coaching now I doubt they would be able to do more than they are doing now. So let the kids play and the coach, coach and be quit.

Yes I am a TSSAA ref and proud of it. Yes, the first step is to pass an open book test. From then on you are REQUIRED TO GO TO A STATE MEETING ONCE A YEAR AND LOCAL MEETINGS ALSO. As for FIFA or what ever you call it. It is not soccer. It is who's bigger and who can get away with the most dirty playing. Their is no disapline in FIFA by players or coaches. On the liability issue whether you have 2 or 3 officials theirs liability. One more thing if FIFA officials would do their job in club soccer we would not have the problems we have in High School soccer, so liability would not be an issue. Remember anyone can become an official but only the compitant ones become good officials.

Last time I checked their wasn't that much talent on the floor. Plus York should be ya by 30,very talented young team. So quit your whinning and wait for athetes because you don't have to many know.

Swamp if you want to watch rough play watch college or pro ball. There is no room for that kind of officiating in High School. This is high school basketball and whether you like it or not there will be fouls called all night to keep the game under control,and to resemble a basketball game. If you give an inch the kids will take a mile. The rules are there to be inforced. Like I said in a previous post if you are not a referee you have no idea what goes on at our meetings and state rules meetings. For you to critize something you know nothing about is hogwash. The bottom line is you don't have a clue and never will. So if rough play is what you want watch TV. Remember this is high school and we have officials learning to call the game and how to manage games to. Remember don't talk about something you know nothin about.

Hey Swamp just a question for you since you are an expert on officiating. What is considered a foul. :confused: How many years of experience do you have officiating? Please inform me what a foul is. Is it when someone gets knocked down or when their is blood drawn, or when someone is hurt? In your opinion the officials can only call a certian number of fouls in a game, no matter how many their really are just so you don't have to set through these games. Well let me see most basketball people will tell you that the players have to adjust to the officials. If they are calling it close then the players must adjust. These players know what they can and can't do they just push it to the limit. I applaud the officials for not giving up and keep calling fouls. this tells me they are still in the game and not daydreaming. One more point since their were 60 some fouls in each game and you paid 6 dollars then it only cost you3 cents a foul so you got your moneys worth

THE REASON THE TSSAA IS SO SET IN THE NOISE MAKER RULE IS FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT ABUSE EVERY RULE YOU CAN FIND TO BREAK. AS FAR AS THE REFS NEEDING TRAINED YOU MUST GO TO A SUMMER CAMP EVERY 3 YEARS. THIS CAMP IS RAN BY THE SUPERVISORS FROM ALL ACROSS THE STATE. ONE MORE THING NEXT TIME YOU TALK TO AN OFFICIAL ASK HIM HOW YOU COULD BECOME AN OFFICIAL AND HELP FIX THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING.

AN ARTIFICIAL NOISE MAKER IS ANYTHING THAT IS NOT A PART OF YOUR BODY. SUCH AS HANDS MOUTH AND FEET. HOPE THIS CLEARS THIS UP. THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT CAN HAVE MEGAPHONES IS CHEERLEADERS AND THEY CAN ONLY YELL THROUGH THEM IF THEY BANG'EM ON THE GROUND THEY CAN BE TAKEN AWAY. ONE MORE THING WHILE ON THIS SUBJECT HOW MUCH LOUDER DOES A LITTLE MEGAPHONE MAKE YOUR VOICE. VERY LITTLE. THEY ARE USED TO BANG ON THE BLEACHERS AND OTHER THINGS. I think they are pretty good. Yeah some are better than others but overall not to bad.

Concerning the rules of the basketball rule book. Their is no artificial noise makers aloud during the game. In fact it says they are prohibited. As far a uniforms YES their is a proper way you are to wear your uniform. At the state rules meeting your coaches were told what was and what was not acceptible. All the officials do is to inforce the rules. It is no different than the rules of life, you have to follow them and if you don't you set on the bench. The problem I have with all this is kids today think they can do as they please and suffer no backlash for this behavier. Just an example if you have a dress code at school do you go by it or do you dress the way you want and suffer the consiquences. well its the same with basketball. It is a dress code and live with it. Remember its a basketball game not a fashion show. P.S. Remember the fashion police will be watching you on the court so keep them shirts tucked in.
