  1. that is the best way to go COACHT. it is the quickest anyway. we went down the Natchez the whole way last year to the Collinwood/CPA game and it took forever, but was pieceful. Take I-65 and the highways Chakra and you'll be better off.
  2. what would be the basis for declaring a top coach? wins? doing more with less? Tradition at the school? Well, how about all three? That, of course, leaves Satterfield as the only choice. Rankin, of course, brings in kids at a rate that would make darth vador jelous, so he is out. McCallie's coach is to young to be considered and there are only 7 teams in his league. If he were to go somewhere else and have the same success (which I think he would) then you would have to put him in there as one of the best. But, Satterfield is the clear cut top coach. He wins at a place with no money, and wins often. He has some trophies. So, he gets my vote.
  3. Anyone know of a good game Friday Nov 1st in Birmingham? I am making a trip down there and need some info. THANKS!!
  4. guys, this thread humors me. who cares who Ezell plays in round one or two?? They are just sacrificial lambs. It will be the third round of the playoffs before Ezell gets a game that is a challenge. Collinwood comes in then (I think) and they'll be a challenge. Then USJ (I think this order is right). Then whoever the top sends in round 5 will get dogged like last year as all the good teams are in the bottom half. I'm sorry folks but Ezell is superior once again. All you split lovers can start poping knuckles and type out your cry baby lists again.
  5. Raymond Dunning is by far tops pound for pound. Whit will win at 103 this year with the Ryan 103 from last year moving to 12. This will give Ryan champs at 3, 12, and Dunning. Anyway, Raymond is as skilled as they come and pound for pound is the best on his feet and on bottom. He can crank them from the top position too.

    BA vs. Baylor

DOM, that is great, but what does that have to do with my post? I am glad to hear BA got whipped by MBA. What's your point? just curious.

    BA vs. Baylor

informed fan, look, I dislike BA as much as the next guy, but to say Baylor's tradition is better than BA's??? football wise, that is a JOKE. When was the last time BA got beat by their arch rival 4 or 5 years in a row? How many State championships does Baylor have to BA's? come on, I know vader works at BA, but Baylor is not a football school -- it is more a wrestling school.
  9. hold on VG, you are making logical statments again. All be them sarcastic one, they make sence. Remember, private school haters do not use logic or smarts - just emotion -- in their thoughts.

    D2 Question

With several teams from D2 AA beating teams from D2 AAA this year, do you think it has come time to realize that the three levels in D2 is one to many -- if not two to many. Thoughts??
  11. who is the new coach at BA?
  12. IE3, May, every dog gone program I know of has at least two VCRs. If someone wants to play college, make about 20 highlight films and send them to schools. I know 20 tapes cost money, but it is better than a 800 buck web page no one will look at. I am not saying kids don't deserve their due, nor am I saying it isn't rediculous that newspapers can't get names right. They do deserve the coverage, and the papers should get names right. But, it isn't nearly as important as you imply. Send out tapes. you'll get rewarded eventually.
  13. IE3, You are right that the kids deserve the publicity, but it shouldn't matter to them if they don't get it. As far as college coaches looking at papers. Of all people who know to ignore papers, it is college coaches. They may catch wind of one player every four or five years in a newspaper that they have not already heard of. Papers 99 times out of 100 are the last to know. The way coaches find out about players is through other coaches. They call other college coaches and other high school coaches for input. It is kind of like a good ol' boy network. Bottom line, papers have little to nothing to do with how you're recruited. [Edited by panfan on 9-30-02 12:35P]
  14. You guys are all a bunch of babies!!!1 Who cares if someone gives you any respect?? Just win and you'll get it eventually. If you win and don't get respect, who cares, you still won. Good grief, talk about a bunch of misguided people!!! Who cares if some stupid Tenneessean reporter fella writes on you or not. If you were 4-1, they'd be writing about you. And if you're 4-1 and they aren't writing about you, who cares, you're 4-1. Get your priorites in order people. The most important thing is that you are doing your best at your job. Other people's opinions matter jack.
  15. I tell ya, it is hard being a celebrity. Panther fan it is. I have liked Carolina since they started play. Going as far as they did in their second year got me hooked. Plus, my dad took up Jacksonville. this, of course was before the Titans. Anyway, any more questions will be answered tonight. Autograph requests must be accompanied with a Watermelon Sonic Slush (route 44 size) and a brown bag special combo no.2!! Or, really, Pancake on a stick from sonic would probably do. Throw in a Sonic Fritos pie and I'll sign two things.
  16. Auburn rocks. I kinda thought you were to old for the grand days of high school. Grump does good work. Now, that you mention it, I remember the updates on your knee last year. Kinda stinks on the timing of it!!! hope things go well for you at Auburn!!!!.

    hardcore teams

my favorite is Trousdale. After their upset of Portland last year, they secured thier place as a favorite of mine. They go hard every play.
  18. life is grand Mr Animal. you can find out details from your fine equipment fella or the old guy in the room where you take your pains. I keep updates on you guys as the season progresses. I thought you would have graduated by now?? You have to be a senior.
  19. I know the thread has taken a detour, but here is my answer to the original question: Offensive lineman do not get the credit they deserve b/c it is the nature of most people to focus on the result and not the process. You see, the result of a play may be that a runner gains the needed 8 inches for a first down, but the lineman who fired off the ball low with driving feet will go unnoticed by most. A quarterback throws a long pass to a streaking receiver. Nice. Without the line in front, nothing would happen. It takes the truly intellegent to realize the importance of the process. The result can only be obtained through the process. Lineman are the process; runners, throwers and catchers are the result.
  20. you know, It is nice to be so popular among the members of this board. This has been a question long asked by many people. A mystery only known by those near and dear to my heart. To tell you the full story: I went to a private school when I was a kid. Went to college, worked and here we are. Right now, I work for a college team somewhere is God's favorite state -- TN. The reason for my anonymity is simple. I do bash BA and say really rude things to people that are simply unprofessional. I can't really have my actual name attached to most of the stuff that rumbles off my fingers every couple of nights. My reasons for not wanting a split can be found on the split board As far as BA, there are two reasons I bash them: 1) they are most responsible for the horrible sterotype attached to privates schools by those who know nothing about private schools. 2) every person I have met (less than 10 in college and 10 or more since) that went to BA says they disagree with what goes on there. Actually three reasons: the third is that, well, it is fun. you will never find a more disliked person in all of TN than Carlton Flatt. This last couple of days has been the first time over the last year anyone has come to his side and they are all BA people. See, it is a sign of a person who deserves true respect when outsiders come to his side to support. BA is like a cult. NO human outside that school likes them or what they stand for. So, there is the story. I'll be happy to anwers questions for the nest 20 minutes or so. I don't do autographs unless it comes with free food from Sonic
  21. cloudland does have the easy road in the top half as evidence from last year indicates (cloudland was maybe top 5 and made it to the finals.) however, this year Boyd is much better than last year. I'm putting my money on collinwood this year. Their big downfall is a weak schedule. That is going to hurt them. Cloudland and boyd will be the battle for the top half. Collinwood and Ezell probably the battle for the bottom half. At least, I think I remember Boyd being in the top half. My bets are on collinwood for the farthest reaching public school.
  22. itsme, what are you talking about? I did say that those who assume private schools cheat are ignorant. They are. The reason they assume private schools cheat is b/c they assume all are like BA. Not all private schools are like that. You need to be less emotional and more logical before you post itsme. and as far as Coach Moore at BA?? dug himself a whole??? ok, he went to two state title games in a row and has class and cares about the kids. Only on the dark side of the force would that be digging a whole. [Edited by panfan on 9-25-02 8:40A]
  23. The reason that no one talks about the publics being forced to move up if they win is b/c they are hypocrits. That is why you never hear anyone say successful public schools should move up. there is no logic to the idea that if teams win they should move up. People just assume that private schools cheat and that publics don't. Those people are ignorant. As far as 4A, the difference would be a lot bigger than 5A which is what we have now. Obviously, it would be a smaller difference than the 3A system of around 10 years ago.
  24. ITSME, I have met Vador a few times. Mostly, I dislike him b/c he is the man most responsible for the current horrible state of football in TSSAA. He cheated so bad and gave private schools such a bad reputation all by himself that he just makes me want to puke. Plus, if you look at the last 10 years or so at his school and look at what happened to a few of his players once their playing careers were over, it is obvious he is not teaching his players to be well rounded men. To cap it off, look what he did to Tom Moore. Let's face it, Darth Vador has not a good bone in his body.
  25. No no, BABOB, you don't have to play 10 games. You can play 9, 8 or three if you want. What they probably want to do is play a game in case down the road, the conference standings go to overall record. However, I don't see John Paul II being listed as a official TSSAA Varsity team. they are listed in no region. I don't see how this game could count towards anything. My guess is that the BA folks want to get the kids some time on the field. I'd bet my lunch tomorrow this game can't count towards their TSSAA record, but I won't bet dinner b/c I am not that sure. I'd also bet Darth Vador knows that it won't count(obviously, no matter how much I dislike the guy, he knows what he is doing) or, he has found a loop hole in the rules to count it.
