  1. I just noticed this the other night, but who exactly is the head coach? I know Charlie Anderson is, but it seems like his assistant does most of the coaching. The assistant called all the timeouts and called out all the plays. All Anderson did was get a technical foul, which I'll admit was ridiculous.
  2. As a player for the Thunder, I know that we have had numerous speakers come and talk to us. They always told us a week or two in advance as well, so that last minute thing is completely wrong. And no, not anybody can go to those type of tournaments, as Gomab can attest to. They are invitation only, and only the best are invited usually. The Thunder and the Ballerz are both teams on the rise. And yes, at tryouts everybody plays in the scrimmages and when I tried out, I learned some new things as well. I think you are just upset because your child was cut and youre trying to bring a good program downn.
  3. The Thunder is a class organization dedicated to preparing their kids for life after ball. They routinely have guest speakers come and talk to their players about the SAT/ACT, drugs, and other issues. They also have quality teams. Yes they only had one team make it to Nationals. But that doesn't include the 19u team that performed very well at the Junior Olympics. They also took a team composed of 16 and 17 year olds to the JOs and I think they finished sixth. The 16u team lost to the national champs by 13 at the Super Showcase. What issues are you talking about?
  4. I am a point guard, and I think it just makes a lot more sense to look for a high percentage shot on the block rather than a three pointer or long jumper. I really don't care who scores the points as long as we get the win. Maybe I think this way because I used to play post and I know how hard and frustrating it can be. And as some have already alluded to, there are so many options once you get the ball into the post, and I don't understand why more teams do not integrate the post more.
  5. Youre right, they are 2-14. But they are easily the best 2-14 team in the state. The football players have made an amazing impact. The first time they played MBA they lost by about 30...they won by 4 saturday. That is a pretty solid turn around. I wasnt insulting your team, I was just saying that Ezell is a solid contender now, with AJ, Antoine, and Austin back. And I restate: I am not bragging about Ezell-Harding, Im just telling the facts. I go to a school that plays Ezell, and have witnessed their turn around first hand.
  6. Alex is a junior, and i dont think he is on any Top 100 lists.
  7. For the record I am in no way associated with Ezell-Harding. I have just seen them play since they got their players back, and I saw a really good team. I also find it amusing that all of the NCS fans think, that because they are having a good year so far, that no other team is capable of even thinking of guarding them. If you listened to all of the NCS fans you would think this team is unbeatable. Yes they are having a good year, but no I dont think that they will be in Murfreesboro at the end of the year. Congratulations to Coach Anderson for turning this program from a bottom of the barrel type team into a serious contender. [Edited by Fridge on 2-2-03 1:49A]
  8. 2-14 Ezell has been so good since they got their football players back and in-shape.
  9. Great game to FRA and Ezell. Mariska Reed is a baller! She went to the hole at will and usually finished strong. And congratulations to Michelle Street of FRA for notching her 700th career assist. She is closing in on the state record, which I believe stands at 752.
  10. Hey Winner dont forget Alan Eatherly for Lipscomb. And in regards to Renfroe: The kid is small and skinny...but he gets so many rebounds and plays very tough D. He has improved so much from last year that he doesnt even seem like the same player. He has taken a lot of pressure of of Brandon.
  11. Having seen both teams play, I too would have to say that it is crazy for NCS to think that they are in the same class as David Lipscomb. David Lipscomb always produces quality teams, while this is the first good team NCS has had in awhile. Dont get me wrong, NCS is a good team, but their fans are making too big of a deal out of this. Yes they had a great start, and yes they are still hot. But they cannot beat every team in the state of Tennessee because of it!
  12. Well, since these three are back, who is now the top team in the district? Is it now Ezell-Harding? Will these three make that much of an impact?
  13. I've played with a shot clock before, and I can honetly say I did not see it really effect the game at all. In most games, the teams will find a shot before the shot clock expires. What you would see is teams like Lipscomb who are generally very methodical with their offense be forced to change a little bit, although this year Lipscomb is scoring pretty quick. I think the shot clock is a good idea, just not for high school basketball. [Edited by Fridge on 1-18-03 12:28A]
  14. I remember Rhona Blades, the current head coach of the BA girls, was once the head JV Boys coach at FRA. Thats the only local instance that I can think of.
  15. Ive heard 6'2. Is this rumor true? And are AJ and Antione going to come back?
  16. Mike Loftis only had like 7 points, or something like that. FRA played very good team defense, not allowing any open shots. The first quarter score was 13-2, but DCA made a comeback and ended up being down by like 6 at half. In the second half, FRA pulled away. Then FRA put in some player with 16 seconds left, and the place erupted. It got really loud. Overall, DCA played a pretty good game I thought, they just didnt capitalize on FRA's mistakes. I think FRA's crowd may have rattled DCA a little bit, because they were really into the game and were loud from beginning to end. [Edited by Fridge on 1-15-03 5:21P]
  17. DCA is playing very well right now, especially when you consider what they lost from last year. When is their next game?
  18. I agree Harriford still got to the basket at will, he just could not finish his shots. He got very tired because he had to bring the ball up every time against a double team, so by the time the fourth quarter came around his legs were gone. The rest of the Hume-Fogg guards were also able to get to the hole, but could not convert their freethrows. Lipscomb is still a very good team, and they did deserve to win the game. But they did not stop Brandon Harriford. [Edited by Fridge on 1-12-03 5:59P]
  19. Did he originally commit verbally to Tennessee? I remember someone telling me that he had, and this came as somewhat of a surprise to me.
  20. If FRA won, they must have something. You can say that you should have whooped them all you want, but you didnt.
  21. Is Rhonda Blades still the coach? If so, I knew she would be able to turn that, or really any, team around. [Edited by Hoops4 on 12-7-02 4:52P]
  22. I think the teams were pretty evenly matched last year, playing close every time but the one at FRA. Ezell lost a couple of key players, and FRA lost one player who was hurt most of the year, and added some quality freshmen. These two teams are always going to play each other tight, however, so who knows. As for Ezell having the better coach, I personally think that Coach Carter was the better coach, even though his team lost to them four times. What he did with the girls basketball program at FRA was really remarkable. And just because they have a new coach, that doesnt mean that he isnt any good. Coach Hart is a great coach, as the records of his teams in West Tennessee would show. He really understands the game of basketball. [Edited by Hoops4 on 11-19-02 9:29P]
  23. They still got Matt Bonner, whos a double-double threat every time he steps on the floor, Brett Nelson, maybe the purest shooter in the SEC, Lee, and a great freshman class that includes Anthony Roberson, McDonalds All-American, Mario Boggan, a Haslam-like big man, and Christian Drejer, the foreign guy. I would say that the future looks good for the Gators, but they were big underachievers last year, and they lost a great player in White, but they should be able to rebound and have a good year, possibly including an SEC title.
  24. If the CA is for Clarksville Academy, then FRA actually beat yall last year. It was a real close game, but FRA did win. People who can fill it up from the outside include Salato, Wilson, Young, Foley, and Womack. Warren is also a pretty good shooter. They also play solid team defense. It should be a good year for District 9A.
  25. Why did you have to bash their cheer? And what is so lame about it? When you win as many state championships as some of their runners have, then you can talk.
