  1. Cookeville has a tougher non-region schedule than any of the other teams in this region. I dont think Cookeville will have any problems with White County but Knox Central, Lebanon, Memphis University School or Cleveland may be tough games. I think Cookeville goes undefeated in the region but two of the four teams above will beat them. Could be Cleveland or MUS. How did Cookeville and MUS get hooked up together anyway? Thats gonna be a long bus ride from Memphis to Cookeville. Out of Region 3-5A, I believe Cookeville is the only team that has a chance to beat a region 4 team (In the playoffs). None of the other teams in Region 3 would even make the playoffs in Region 4. It's just too tough of a region, but whoever the top 4 teams from region 4-5A are, are definetly playoff worthy. I cant say that about region 3. A team with a losing record should not be rewarded a watered down playoff spot. Nonetheless, thats the way the system is. Its just bad for the 5-5 teams and the 6-4 teams that finish 5th in the region and have to sit at home and watch a 3-7 or 2-8 team get the bid.
  2. Region 3 5A is the weakest region in the state. Just look how they did last year in the playoffs. Here are my predictions for this region along with the record and how far I think each team will advance in the playoffs. Cookeville 9-2 Lose in 2nd round to Smyrna but a playoff win none the less over Lavergne Lincoln County 7-4 lose in first round to Oakland Coffee County 4-7 lose in first round... again to Smyrna Franklin County 4-7 lose in first round to Riverdale but at least you made the playoffs. Good thing you're in region 3. Region 4 5A is too tough, but look on the bright side. In Region 3-5A all you have to win is 2 region games and your in the playoffs. And 3-7 will be good enough to take third. Getting in the playoffs aint as hard as it use to be.
  3. Does anyone question why this region is the only region in the state (5A) that only has 6 teams? Is there any realignment plan in the future? A team in this region could go 2-8 and still make the playoffs. A team could go 3-7 and have a third place finish. I wonder how some of those teams in Riverdales Region feel about that? Didnt Oakland go 5-5 last year and not get a playoff bid? I bet Oakland or Tullahoma (4A) would love to compete in region 3 5A. The TSSAA should look into adding a couple of teams to this region to at least make a third place finish look respectable. Until then I guess a dismal 3-7 will be good enough.
  4. CC is playing a 2A school also... and will have problems with them.
  5. She didnt get any D1 offers and certainly SEC offers. Good but not SEC good.

Coach T has hit the fan. Band trash talking
  7. Indiana and Kentucky are basketball states. Tennessee is a football state. Thank God!
  8. Girls basketball in West Tennessee has had some good teams from time to time but for the most part they are not very good. Many of the teams in Middle and East Tennessee that didnt even make it to the Sub State game (Region 4-AAA) would beat the teams West Tennessee has in the state tournament year in and year out. Shelbyville could beat everyone of those West Tennessee teams.
  9. McMinn Central and Sequatchie will both lose. Their region isnt very tough this year. I think McMinn Central matches up better against Upperman. By beating Sequatchie in the region finals McMinn threw their State Playoff hopes out the window. They may have beaten Upperman though. LA by 20.
  10. Didnt Sequatchie lose by three? Ok. Lets give Sequatchie those 2 points back. Now they only lost by 1. Satisfied?
  11. I loved looking at the faces of those White County fans as they were walking out of the gym the night they lost to Henry County. I heard several of them saying as Coffee County was running out onto the Court for pregame to face Memphis East (who they beat by about 30 points) "We beat Coffee County 3 times this year and they are still in the tournament and we are heading back to Sparta...this isnt fair." White County was symbolic of the Buffalo Bills not only that year but many after that as well. They had some great teams but District 8-AAA usually won the Championship.
  12. From the late 80's through the mid 90's District 8-AAA was one of the toughest Districts in the Nation...not the state the Nation. I say that because I believe at one point in the same year Shelbyville, Frankiln County and Coffee County all were mentioned in the top 25 in the Nation...and they are all about 25 minutes (or less) away from each other. That is stout. At one point I would put any one of those teams against anyone in the country, and if you want to talk region tournament then you could throw White Counties team w/Kelly Jolly into the mix as well. Region 4-AAA was without a doubt one of the toughest regions to advance through in the history of Tennessee sports. Some of the best teams in the state didnt even make it to the sub-state game because they lost their second round game in the region tournament. There were many years where not one, but two teams from this region made it to the state tournament. There were tons of great teams during that 10 year span from this region. Heck, there still are, but during that time if you wanted to see who the 2 best teams in the state were then you would look to the Region 4-AAA Champ and Runner Up. The year Coffee County won the State Championship they didnt even win their Region Tournament. Tennessee Girls Basketball during that time was very well respected and represented in middle Tennessee. Region 4-AAA was the most dominate Region Tennessee Girls Basketball has ever seen.
  13. I was just wondering what schools have ever been mentioned in the USA Today National Top 25 Poll. I know Shelbyville has had multiple teams in there, but who else over the years has cracked the National Top 25? There should be quite a few to mention. Lets hear it.
  14. I totally agree with your comments about the feeder programs. Players are still developing when they get into high school. Here is a question to ponder on. What if the feeder programs were having success and the High School team continued to have a losing record. Whose fault would that be? Any comments Fuzby?
  15. One last thing before I leave this thread for good. Trey, the people that were bashing the school board members son showed no class. I will be the first to say that, but The School Board member and his wife equalled that by spouting off themselves and then signing their names like they were proud of it??? School Board Members must have thick skin and not let petty things of this nature bother them to the point where they are obviously losing sleep over it. Do you think Coach Taylor is going to get on here and start mouthing off to all these people who are bashing him? No, He probably has more class than that. When Board Members accept their chair in office they must realize that they will not please everyone. They cannot wear their feelings on their shoulders. They have to be better than that. Replying to a classless message when you are a Board Member wether someone is talking about your son or not is moronic. You do not defend someones honor by threats on a message board! Thats like sending a note across the classroom telling someone you are going to beat them up after school. Trey, I hope I have enlightened you to view this in a different way. There are ways to defend honor, and this is NOT one of them.
  16. School Board Members should be held to a higher standard than regular fans or parents. They represent more than just a family. They represent a community of people who voted for them. And the Manchester / Coffee County community should not be a direct representation of this back and forth Elementary cyber bashing. All over a message board??? The people of Coffee County do not deserve this. I am disappointed by these posts, and I am done with this thread.
  17. Just got on here to read some of this stuff I've heard people talking about. I can't believe this. This sums up alot of the problems in its self. Geeez.
  18. Time heels and people forget and move on which would work to his favor. Not interested in taking this any further. If Price wants to return to his home town, I wish him luck. May I ask what was meant by "Time heels and people forget"? What should the people forget? Just curious thats all.
  19. Why would anyone not want to coach in this region? Chances are you'll make the playoffs every year and you could actually finish 3rd with a sub .500 record. I know this is a CC thread but has anyone heard if/when Cumberland County is gonna drop out? If they did in a year or two that would leave this region with 5 teams 2-8 would get you 3rd. Surely they would add some more teams. Off the topic question but I was just wondering how this would be handled.
  20. Is Bill Price in the mix? Just wondering if there is any news on Coach Price getting the job. Does anyone know?
  21. The other region is too tough. Did you see the South Pitt. / Gordonsville game? I was even embarassed after that one. Or did you see the Temple / FCS game? 3rd round is the stopping point.
