  1. sportsradiotn..is that you? haha i dont guess i should say your name but i played basketball at south fulton for a few years...if its you...you always called me JT. im just at school and thought id see what was goin on with south fulton athletics..lol. well anyway..write back and tell me if its you...
  2. don't let the larger, more supportive crowds in kentucky fool you. what does how many fans that attend the games have to do with the level of talent in each state? kentucky high school is a different brand of basketball...not a better one. they're more physical..and their referrees allow them to get away with more. i've seen just as much of each state..and played a whole lot of kentucky teams. and i just don't see why kentucky's just automatically considered better. look at all the players the state of tennessee has playing college ball recently. look at the ncaa's right now: mario moore, julian terrell, jason holwerda, earnest shelton..lee humphrey before florida got upset..trey pearson redshirting for a murray state team who was put out in the first round..and that's just off the top of my head. but..i'm not tryin to argue...
  3. hahaha..whatever man. I just figured there had to be SOME reason as to why you would mention those three schools. I've just never heard any of them mentioned. And I don't see how those three schools are related in anyway. But ok. And dude...you ain't gotta get smart with me. I'm just trying to let people know what's really going on...so there aren't any ignorant rumors. And yeah...suggesting random schools that you wonder if he might go to...will start ignorant rumors.
  4. no. and i have no idea where in the world those schools came from...
  5. ummmmmm....I've got to disagree. LeBron has a LOT more of an upside than Carmello. Both are GREAT. But...I mean...have you seen Lebron???? Their shots are about the same. LeBron is more athletic. He can jump straight out of the gym. Both are strong. LeBron has better vision and passes. I think LeBron handles the rock better. If I've got the number one pick....gimme LeBron.
  6. Boston College has also contacted him.
  7. ok..first off...he's not going to UT Martin. And secondly..that last comment was the most uninformed statement I've ever heard about this situation. He was NOT cutting classes. And Coach Barnes was definitely not going to run him off the team. He tried his best to get him to stay. Playing time obviously wasn't the problem. He would like to be closer to home...but that's not all of the reason for the transfer either. He was perfectly fine with playing the point. He enjoys that. It wasn't that he wanted more shots...he just...wasn't crazy about the system at Ole Miss. If any of you watched any of their games...I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Trey's game is more of a wide-open game. He can run a set offense anytime...but...i think everyone could tell that their was a LOT of restrictions in their offense. He did what he was asked to do though. As for where he's going...he's not completely sure. It's not definite that he's going to Murray State. Just give him time to make his decision. I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that nothing negative led him to his decision to leave Ole Miss.
  8. why do people talk as if they know so much about everything?
  9. I'm not making any prediction. But to say that Mitchell lacks skill in every direction...is to be a person who is uneducated in basketball. Do some more homework on them before you say anything else.
  10. I don't know if you typed that wrong or if you just meant to be wrong about it...but more high school players can dunk than can't? um...that's really really wrong. But I mean..maybe you were just kidding. I hope you were.
  11. You said that the 3-point line has caused people to lose their concentration and take bad shots. I agree...but I really like that part of the game. I love the mental aspect of it. The players who are actually good..and who know what they're doing...won't let the 3-point line affect their game. It makes it all the more challenging. As for the dunk...if you can dunk...then go for it. Why not? I'm like..MAYBE 5'10..I can't dunk. So don't think I'm trying to argue for it because I enjoy doing it. I just know what a dunk can do to an opposing team..and how it can change a game. As for you saying that you will keep on talking to people about it because that's the only way we can hope for change, how many things have been TAKEN AWAY from the game? The only changes that will be made by future generations will be additions. Personally..I don't think there will be any more additions. I think the game is set for a loooong time. But...you have your own opinions.
  12. mhalionboy...I'm pretty sure I disagree with everything you've said about this. The dunk is GREAT...for people who can dunk. I HATE to see people attempt a dunk in a game...when they know good and well that they can't dunk. The dunk is great for a team though...it can intimidate a team when they see a guy throw one down hard on them (especially a high school team). And as for the 3-point shot...you keep saying it's cheap. WHAT are you talking about??? You act like it's easy or something. You contradicted yourself by saying shooting was a part of basketball. Well....there you go...if you're a really good shooter..you can get 3 points a lot of the time. There's nothing cheap about it. If you're GOOD enough to make the shot and help your team...then you've EARNED those points. And John Wooden was a great coach...and is a great basketball person. But could some successful football coach from 30 or 40 years ago come back and be a successful coach? Probably not. Games change. The very basics of them stay the same...the basics that we all love. BUT...the games do change. Now...you can either complain about how the game is played and talk about how YOU would have it played. OR...you can go outside and work on your outside jumper..and maybe even on your hops. And I'm talking to everyone when I say that. The game IS what it IS...you either love it like I do...or you don't. And don't try to get on me by saying that I don't know how it used to be. I love watching tapes of Bob Cousy, Bill Russell, Tiny Archibald, Jerry West, Pete Maravich (even though he's more like our times), Oscar Robertson. I grew up watching Bird, Magic, Isiah..and of course like everybody..Jordan. I love basketball how it was...and I love it how it is. You can't change it...you either love it..or you don't. 13. Ok. But you act like you're going to see me soon or something. If that's the case..I don't understand why you'd ask if I was still at MSU. But anyway...you can email me at justintaylor_22@hotmail.com if you want. cause I still don't have a clue who you are.
  14. hmmm..that narrows it down. haha What school are you with?
  15. I never ended up going there. I went to Martin..and am still there. So who are you?
  16. Unless you're Coach Lee or Coach Frazier...whatever you could know..wouldn't suprise me at all.
  17. hahaha Do you think that's the first time that I or anyone else who ever played with Trey has heard that?? haha People used to always ask me if I ever wondered what it would be like to play without Trey? Some people were dumb enough to say that might have put more points in my average..haha. But as for what you said...I like to think of this. At a summer camp in Transylvania...we were for the first time, outside of a game or two, without Trey. We played every team in our group twice throughout the week. The first seven games were awful. We were 1 and 6. I remember how frustrating it was..because my leg was hurt..and I felt like I wasn't doing anything that the rest of the team needed. Through those first seven games..we played like we were missing someone because he wasn't there. BUT...playing like that through the first half of the week got to all of us. The second time through...against the same teams..we went 6 and 1. And they were all very good teams. I don't know if I've ever been more proud of a team that I played on. But I would NEVER not want to play with Trey on my team. I love playing with him..and not just because he's so good. I played with him before he was all that..hahaha. Trey plays to win...he would do whatever it took to win a game. That's what I loved about playing with him. We had played together for so long it got to the point where it felt like I knew what he was going to do..and what he wanted to do..well before he ever did it. Now..that never helped me out in any pickup games...haha. But it was nice when we were on the same team. And even though playing on the same team with him all those years...leaves all of us open to criticism like that...I wouldn't trade him for anyone. Even if he wasn't as good as he was. I wouldn't trade anyone on any team I ever played on. Everybody always got along..and was willing to do whatever they had to do to compete and win. And if we had not of had Trey...we still would have beaten Westview last year and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that. 18. Yes..WesCharge..Westview could be beaten by SF this year. And thebeave...who are you talking to about Coach Driver? I know way more about him than you do. And I know way more about the SF players and the Westview players than you, him, and wescharge all put together. So don't try to tell me anything about the "reason that he is coaching". I know what I'm talking about. If this was about a math problem..or a science question..I wouldn't have said anything. But it's about basketball...I know about that. And I know about the situation in South Fulton. It's stupid to still be talking about it though. Westview won...congratulations and move on. WesCharge...atleast no team I was ever on lost to Westview. I believe that would include all of the summer camps as well. [Edited by JDub22 on 2-1-03 4:12P]
  19. I still say if the game was played like I thought it should be..that SF could've won. I was there for the first half of it. Everything was just like I thought it would be with Westview. They do have more weapons...but a lot of that can be neutralized. And oh..nice mature, polite post WesCharge..
  20. Travis Stinnett played very well for a very good Alabama team. You shouldn't knock him by saying he was recruited by them when they weren't as good...and when they got better he JUST happened to be there. He helped make them better. If you want my age...I'm 18. I haven't seen Lee play..so I can't comment on the comparison between the two. But you shouldn't put Travis down. He was a very good player on a very good Alabama team. He could shoot the lights out. 21. I didn't CALL him a ######. I said he was making himself look like one. And no...I've never posted anything remotely negative on here. I've always said anybody can beat anybody..so we should stop analyzing everything and let the games tell the story. So I don't know what you're talking about there. And it will be easier for SF to stop Jason than it will be to stop Marlon. I've played against Jason and against the perimeter players SF has. And they CAN cause problems for him. Whether they WILL or not..remains to be seen. As for Marlon...you've gotta be physical with him. You have to get in his head...BUT you can't let that get into your head also. If you do that...and front him when he's deep under the basket...and push him out as far as you can as much as possible.....then he won't be THAT much of a factor. Marlon's going to get some points and rebounds just because he's the biggest guy on the floor. But you've got to make everything he does...the hardest things he's ever done. And as for Jason...stay in his pocket WITHOUT reaching. Be right by him all the time...deny him the ball every possession...and you should be fine with him. He's a very good player...but he is still learning...so you've got to take advantage of that. Make this into a SOMEWHAT hectic game...with tons of help-side defense...and SF can win. Am I promising that they'll win? Nope...not at all. But, if they do what I said...and knock down some shots...then yeah..I definitely think they have a good chance of winning.
  22. WesCharge...you just made yourself sound like a ######. Westview is a pretty good basketball team. But they can be beaten...and they can be beaten by South Fulton. I don't have anything against Westview...but they are NOT good enough to guarantee a win against SF. I don't know why people want to run their mouths so much. And that goes the same for whoever SFFan is. Play the games...and don't try to guarantee anything. Anything can happen on any night. And besides...it's not far-fetched at all to say that South Fulton can beat Westview. Outside of Marlon...those are two pretty evenly matched teams. And Marlon CAN be neutralized...I guess we'll just have to wait and see if SF will do it.
  23. Well if you're ever around South Fulton...and feel like a competitive game of horse...just let me know. haha
