  1. Thank you for the update. PUREFP. I am trying to keep up with 5-AAA, hoping the Lady Jets stay consistent and win the tournament this year!
  2. What are the fields like? I mean what kind of shape are they in after all of this rain?
  3. Thank you. I wondered about that. What is Cumberland COunty's record now? Is it still 27-2? Keep up the good work Lady Jets!

Who's the man from Sweetwater who can do the job? If it's who I'm thinking of you're right....
  5. I definitely have to agree with you on Bryan Peck. As a matter of fact, his whole senior group was outstanding-Tyrone Jenkins, Will Irvin...they were a very talented class.
  6. I have to say that I am long out of all competitive sports, but I want to point out that there are athletes with tremendous amount of ability in their individual sports-all of them, cheerleading included. Just like there are so-so basketball players who go out for the team simply to be a part of a team, so are there in every sport. A standout in any sport is one who has not only the athletic ability, but a greater understanding of the sport as well. I have a tremendous amount of respect for basketball players-knowing what to do, when to do it, and being able to do it in a split second is admirable in any thing you do. In competetive cheerleading, nailing a stunt or tumbling pass, or even knowing that you hit your 8-counts as a single unit takes timing and great skill as well. Different sports appeal to different people. Check out the ammount of support the Lady Vols basketball teams give the Lady Vols soccer team and vice versa. Do you think Germantown students are any less proud of their cheerleaders' numerous National Championships than they would be a state championship in any sport? I certainly wouldn't be. BTW-this is a basketball board. There really should be a separate on for cheerleading-they deserve a forum too.
  7. I haven't seen Sweetwater play this year but I know Coach Martin and he is a great coach. Obviously the Sweetwater staff is soing something right or they wouldn't be where they are. I would really like to see them go all the way.
  8. I have to go with andy Bailey from McMinn County, too for the kicker. He's just too good.
  9. Guys just check the stats 5 out of 7 wins against you all. When was the last time Cumberland County slipped up and beat us? I believe it was in 98. Granted you have showed up sometimes with better talent, but our boys wanted it more and the coaches adjusted their game stragedy during the game to pull off the victory. This Friday shouldn't be any different. Both our coaches and players know that in order to have a chance in wining the region, we must and will stop Cumberland Co. Who ever wants it more and who ever makes the proper adjustments during the game will win! In reference to Coffee Co, we just under estimated them and they won. Believe me, we'll be prepared to bring the house down this Friday just ask Linclon County. Different year, different team. We'll see how it all plays out Friday night.
  10. I agree. Some Cookeville person please refresh my memory-what was the score of your Coffee County game again? I think they were the smack talkers who decided our O-line was soft like marshmallows. They got all the marshmallow they could handle too, so keep talkin your smack. You won't be able to after this weekend.
  11. I will type this s l o w l y for you, since this has already been explained 1 or 3 other times on this board. CCHS Head Coach Mark Wattenbarger was an asssistant at Harriman when Jermaine Copeland played and they went to the Clinic Bowl. After that, he was head coach, and then he came back home to Crossville and now it is a minor rivalry. Harriman is not typically a winless team. For that matter, Cumberland County is not usually undefeated, especially at this point during the season, no matter who they play. It's Homecoming for gosh sake-most places don't schedule tougher teams for their Homecoming games. Does it make sense to you now? Good.
  12. hmm..as an unbiased observer, I would say certainly that Sweetwater's schedule is not as easy as other teams in the state. It's not the hardest, either, but regardless, they still have a very tough team. So, SQ dude, just remember that you are not playing the rest of Sweetwater's opponents Friday night-you are playing the actual realdeal Cats, so just concentrate on that for now. 13. CCHS Fan I agree totally. One game at a time. I'm all for the Jets makin' it big this year, but their schedule will hurt them towards the end of the playoffs. Having said that, I also don't think they should have a problem winning their region, but like you said, it's got to be one game at a time. And Go Jets!
  14. How is thier QB doing so far. Is he just a freshman? I watched them play one game and was impressed with -and I don't know if it was a good game or the norm for him- but he seemed to play smart.
  15. I just have a question. We Greene-is that the young guy from Meigs County?
  16. I'm gonna have to vote for Sweetwater. They're just too strong this year.
  17. Farragut beat McMinn to remain undefeated Cumberland County beat Coffee County to go 4-0 That's all I know
  18. 38-3 Jets! Jets roll. Sorry folks-ya'll picked the WRONG team.
  19. Yeah- he is a heck of a softball player. He never actually played bball anywhere, but boy! he had the talent. He is working at Crossville Ceramics, is married to a girl from Grandview, and has a little girl -6- and a little boy, 3 or 4 years old. I remember when he walked on at UT and how disappointed so many people were that he didn't stay there either, but, like the other poster said, he's going to live with his decisions.
  20. That's what I meant. Dupes is one of those well-known, legendary type coaches and I kind of figured that the current coaches learned a lot from him. I think they have a good staff-and obviously a great team this year.
  21. I'm just curious about the coaching comment. How good are Sweetwater's coaches? I don't live either place, but I've been reading a lot about them lately. Didn't most of them play under THE Bill Dupes in their younger years? Is the program run much the same as it was in those days? Just curious. > [Edited by buc1973 on 9-12-02 10:28A]
