  1. bulldog.....you will probably have the business center to yourself on a friday night, so tune one computer in to the page game, and another to the DL / Chester game. you can watch DL (and laugh at Vandy1) and listen to Page. What more could you ask for?
  2. this link goes to a short (1:43) slide show that the AP put together up in South Dakata. It chronicals his fight agaisnt the injuries and cancer. Same Coach Meyer. http://hosted.ap.org/specials/interactives...dex.html?SITE=G
  3. Bulldog....Like vandy, I really did not intend to post, but I have to say that i was really impressed with Page the night we played you guys in the rain. We had 3 or 4 big plays that cost Page....other than that, you guys stood toe to toe. I knew that as soon as you hired Daniels, Page would start climbing the rankings....and will for several years to come. Good luck Friday night. I will be pulling for you and think that Page will win this one.
  4. Charles Barkley also had a football tight end body, but he did ok by staying with basketball
  5. EZ....unless you do not make it through traffic until just before kick-off, then the proper procedure is to rush straight over to the visitor bleachers and put down your blanket or stadium seat to preserve your seat then go on over to the tailgate and partake of the BBQ, burgers and bluegrass. It's finally football time.....
  6. Is there any truth to the word on the street of a new fun 'n gun offense after a decade or so of plow horse football at Lipscomb? Evidently, after the success of winning the Vanderbilt 7 on 7 tournament, Coach McAdams is this week re-writing the playbook and installing some version of the west coast offense to take advantage of Simpson's arm and Rogers' speed. If so, old Freight Train McAdoo will be spinning in his grave.
  7. Vandy2......I believe the question was "when" not "why".....and according to the Mustang Fan Page, the scrimmage is Aug 5 at 5:00.
  8. any word on the FRA guy that got hit by the foul ball into the dugout? That is a scary thought to us parents.
  9. Really tough week for FRA....they lose to DL by 5, then lose to CPA by 25.
  10. Geezer....you exaggerate. Their are only 8 players off of the varsity who are playing football....of course 3 or possibly 4 of them will be starters when they return. (4 out of 5 would be 80%)
  11. Coach.....the tournament is being held at Allen Arena over on the college side of the campus.
  12. Lipscomb 35 Polk Co 0 Near the end of the first half
  13. Here's a prediction, based on so many of the DLHS/GCS games past....whoever has the ball last will win the game.
  14. Are the results for the Thunder Classic available anywhere on the web? I am particularly interested in the 11U boys.
  15. I know what Division II is in the TSSAA classification, but what is division II in AAU ball?
  16. Coach763, while I doubt that anyone would get away with calling Coach Johnson "Mama" if he did not want them to, that moniker was attached to him long before college. He is my mothers first cousin and she told me last night that she has called him that her whole life. She didn't know (or wouldn't tell me) how he got it. She also volunteered that he was the best coach Williamson Co. has ever produced.
  17. Johnny was not just the heisman runner-up, to hear my dad tell it. He was "Peyton Manning-ed" by a biased national media.
  18. 3&4 would be two Frost brothers. They grew up in the old Frost place on Old Smyrna Road in Brentwood (when Brentwood was very country). I believe George played with the Lions and his brother played with the cowboys.

    my name is

You move pretty quick greenbean2. Yesterday you posted that you play for Marshall Co. Does Mr. Carter know about this?
  20. Lipscomb / Tyner game should be on the Lipscomb site at http://www.lipscomb.edu click on the radio antannae icon
  21. Hey meanjean, i've heard stories like that but always discounted them. Today's kids like mello yello and mountain dew, maybe they will wisen up. Does anybody remember Kick? Had a picture of a mule kicking up its heels on the bottle. It tasted a lot like Sundrop.
  22. Now I know why I like the Coach! Sundrop is the best, but the "old" sundrop was better. When I was in college in the late '70s (small Christian college in Nashville) 4 or 5 of us would have to make a sundrop run down to the Manchester/Winchester area because you couldn't get it here in the city. We would pool our money and get 4 or 5 cases of those old green bottles. Back then they had little flecks of citrus floating in it. Set the old 1940's refrigerator that we had in the dormroom to 33 degrees so that it was just a little slushy. Hooked for life.
  23. Great thread. I've been looking for this kind of discussion since I found the site. My dad played ball at Gallatin back at the tail end of the leather helmet, single wing, no substitue days (50-51-52 I think). I don't have any stats to support his arguments but I remember him saying a number of times that the greatest programs in the mid-state when he was playing were MBA, Sparta and Isaac Litton. Especially Litton. He said it was like going to a bowl game each time they came to Litton. Back then, Gallatin was mostly a bunch of country boys and they really looked forward to coming into Nashville. He also was impressed with the huge marching band they had. Why are there no old East Nashville boys speaking up?
