  1. I said last week that Maryville is a fourth quarter team. You better have your eggs collected before you get to that point. I don't know if the score was affected, but the wind played a role in the game. Two of Merrit's interception were because the ball sailed with the wind (Gym end) or hung in the wind (Scoreboard end). The kicking game was definitely affected. The lob pass to Holt on the Maryville sidelines could have been six if the ball doesn't hang.
  2. That means Mo. West has to get three to four first downs running the ball against Maryvilles's defense after three and a half quarters? Maryville has proven game after game that they are a fourth quarter team (ie. Central game). If you are going to beat Maryville you better have your points with a cushion before the fourth quarter starts. Man, what have you been smokin at three in the morning? By the way. What does a 1996 Riverdale and Jeff. County game got to do with Maryville and Mo. West, the price of wheat in China, or whether Mike Tyson can beat up Tonya Harding? 3. TrojanWHS, Tsk-Tsk, such anger! Can't a guy make a mistake. Your Mommy needs to teach you some manners.
  4. Maryville was just to strong from all over the court. Lee was bombing threes from beyond the NBA line. Stout and Houser played strong in the paint. Tipton and Eppilito worked them over from the perimeter. The big men ( Stout, Hoouser, Tipton) hit several jump shots from outside, each had a slam. Tip had one three, Lee four, Fowler three and Brewer one. Humphrey 29 Tipton 18 Fowler 11 Houser 9 King and Lambert had a good night off the bench. Everybody got alot of playing time. I will be interested to see the stats because everybody contributed. Look out for Trey Brewer (Sophmore) I have now seen the stats and corrected my post. [Edited by Rebelsman on 11-27-02 12:48P]
  5. I feel like many of the Maryville fans are basing their opinion of Riggs on his performance at Maryville last year. His antics between the plays were disgusting. He certainly made a fool of himself and portrayed himself as someone who was above the team. My opinion was certainly tarnished and why the coach put up with it is beyond me. I said at the time that when he went to UT, he would be humbled very quickly by either the coaching staff or some big linebacker. To say that a 19 year old athlete cannot improve is wrong. He will be a good SEC player IF he: #1 Stays healthy #2 Works hard #3 Grows up As for Carl: #1 Great student #2 Great athlete #3 Hard worker #4 A DARN GOOD PERSON What more could any coach dream for?
  6. Stephanie Cope from Maryville.....She can ball.
  7. I don't have a dog in this fight, but being an ex TSSAA football official, I know that the officials in the game were a neutral crew. All officiating crews in the playoffs come from a neutral officials association. In other words, they have not called either team during regular season and are usually from far away. Sorry Greenville, that excuse won't work, OR "That dog won't hunt" GO MARYVILLE!!!
  8. Who said the IIIA champion would want to play?
  9. I saw them in the Jamboree. Wlliam Blount handled them easily. Derrell did not play due to a shoulder injury (football). He is supposed to be back this week (according to him). I don't think he has been released by the Doctor. Alcoa looked very sloppy and disorganized.
  10. Ouch Mapp, You need a lesson in wench management.
  11. You are correct. Nobody can stay on top forever. This has been an extremely long run for a high school team which is a statement of their achievement. As a true Maryville fan it is hard not to be excited about watching these kids play. When you know most of them and their parents personally and they are in your basement playing pool and you see them in church on Sunday, then you can appreciate these young men and coaches. They truely are great in my book and I hope that this Friday is not the night. I KNOW they will be prepared. GO REBELS!!!!!!!!! Good luck Cleveland.
  12. REDNECKS? Who stuck a silver spoon up your *#@ (short for donkey)?
  13. AE, You guys get on here and make these uininformed statements about ball teams. Don't confuse exhuberent fans with what the team is doing. Have you spoken personally with any of Maryville's players or coaches about what they are focussing on? I will guess not. I have! Grat ball teams start with great coaches. One of coach Quarles strong suits is preparing for the game at hand (i.e. Cleveland). If Cleveland beats Maryville it will be because Maryville did not execute or Cleveland out played them. You are correct in saying that "IF" Maryville looks past Cleveland they could be in trouble. You are foolish to say "THEY WILL". How many of you critics have even seen Maryville play this year? Since most of you don't have plans for Friday night why don't you take a little drive down to Cleveland and become a believer. These guys are fun to watch.
  14. From talking with some of the players, Coach Quarles has only focused on Powell for tonight. They know what their business is. Hodge is back at end in good shape. We all know what Galyon(AP 4A player of the week against Central) can do on the other side. I don't think Powell can run up the middle at all. If Maryville contains Milligan (like 2nd half of last game)it will be very a very long night for Powell. I think your prediction is right on. Go Rebels! Take it to the ship!
  15. Hey Wes, Don't pay any attention to Phishhead. I think a better name for him would be "MUSHhead". I think you are well informed and did a fine job on all your predictions. Why don't you give us a summary of your score over the weekend. By the way, I am Andy's Dad. The friend of your Uncle Dan and Aunt Amy. Keep up the good work and good luck!
  16. Maryville and AE are two different teams. AE is quick and athletic. Maryville is big and dangerous from anywhere. Both teams turned the ball over way to much which (I hope)will not happen as the season begins. I may be wrong, but as the machines are oiled and fine tuned AE will have a hard time competeing with Maryville's size. How many AE football players were missing at that scrimmage? Gaskin is the only footballer missing for Maryville.
  17. Stout and Houser had a good night undrneath, especially Stout. He played as well as I have seen. Lee lit up the three ball as usual. We made entirely to many turnovers from the perimeter. Tipton was so -so.
  18. Maryville 61 Austin East 58 in a close one.
  19. Maryville @ Austin East tonight, Tuesday 11/5 5:30pm.
