  1. White House is a 3A team too. They just happen to be in the 4A playoffs.
  2. When you take into account the level of competition the two teams have played, I believe you have to give a slight edge to White House. Melrose has impressive wins over Briarcrest and Jackson Central Merry while White House dominated strong teams Portland, Greenbrier, and Hillwood Melrose's defense is spectacular, but not impenetrable. White House will score, but not a lot and will come away with a 17-12 win. Good luck to both teams.
  3. White House wins this one by a 31-17 count.
  4. For the Blue Devils of White House High School: Week 1--Beech Week 2--Trousdale County Week 3--Station Camp Week 4--Greenbrier Week 5--David Lipscomb Week 6--Brentwood Academy Week 7--Gallatin Week 8--Portland Week 9--Springfield Week 10--Hendersonville
  5. As much as I would love for it to be so, this is NOT the oldest rivalry in the state. This is the oldest rivalry in the Mid-State. The oldest rivalry in the state belongs to Harriman/Rockwood. As for my prediction in this game---very close contest, but White House balance will win out in the end---WH 13 GR 8
  6. Now that wasn't nice at all.---A more balanced White House team should be just enough to pull this one out of the fire---barely!!! Blue Devils march on with a 13-8 victory.
  7. This game is normally played later in the season until recently. Going back to the first game in the series, I can safely say that these two squads have never met unbeaten on the field.
  8. Fat cat is correct---the post was not necessary. There is NO better half of the city. The entire city is fantastic!!!
  9. Cody Harmon---White House
  10. The White House--Greenbrier rivalry is the longest running continuous rivalry in Middle Tennessee. According to the Roane County paper---the Rockwood/Harriman rivalry is the longest running in the state. I believe it dates back to the 1920s.
  11. Being a HUGE high school football fan and especially one of a team that makes the playoffs annually, my list is quite long---but here goes: 69 total Alcoa--Maryville--Powell--Loudon--Lenoir City--Walland (no longer exists) Livingston--Chatt. Howard--Brainerd--McMinn Central--Sequoyah--Roane Co York--Smith Co--Trousdale Co--Macon Co--Westmoreland--Red Boiling Springs Watertown--DeKalb Co--Shelbyville--Tullahoma--Wilson Central White House--Portland--Station Camp--Beech--Greenbrier--Springfield Antioch--Madison--Goodlettsville--David Lipscomb--East Robertson Marshall Co--Giles Co--Richland--Forrest--Spring Hill--Hickman Co Sycamore--Waverly--Montgomery Central--Rossview--Northwest--Northeast Hillsboro--Maplewood--Pearl Cohn--Stratford--Whites Creek Brentwood--Brentwood Academy Milan--Humboldt--Union City--Covington--Dyer Co Memphis Schools: ---East---Kingsbury---Melrose---Wooddale--Memphis Univ. School
  12. Northwest took a big step last year and should be the odds-on favorite this year if they can figure out how to beat Stratford and Pearl-Cohn. They have to play White House on the road this year which should be a big challenge as well. My prediction: Pearl-Cohn Northwest Stratford White House Whites Creek Rossview Mt. Juliet Northeast Springfield Maplewood
  13. White House has missed the playoffs just once since 1984 and in that year they finished 6-4. They have won 7 or more games twelve straight years and have ten or more games six times during that span.
  14. The Devils lose ten seniors from last year's 7-4 squad. The most serious losses include Gordon Keene who led the team in passing Daniel Mounts and Jamie Black who led the team in tackles Blake Webster -- defensive standout ranking among team leaders in sacks/tackles Cody Curtsinger--placekicker Of these the toughest job is to replace Cody Curtsinger The Devils have a trio of backs this season and an experienced quarterback returning to the fold. The Devils should make another serious run at the playoffs. Biggest games on the schedule include Portland, Greenbrier, Northwest, and Pearl-Cohn.
  15. I'm not sure of Roger Perry's record at Portland but here is the lowdown on Coach Porter at White House: 1987: 5-5 District Champions--lost in 2nd round of playoffs to finish 6-6 1988: 7-3 Second place--lost in 1st round of playoffs to finish 7-4 1989: 7-3 Second place--lost in 2nd round of playoffs to finish 8-4 1990: 6-4 District Champions--lost in semifinals to finish 9-5 1991: 6-4 Third place 1992: 9-1 Second place--lost in 1st round of playoffs to finish 9-2 1993: 9-1 Region Champions--lost in semifinals to finish 11-2 1994: 6-4 Third place--lost in quarterfinals to finish 8-5 1995: 7-3 Second place--lost in 2nd round of playoffs to finish 8-4 1996: 9-1 Second place--lost in quarterfinals to finish 11-2 1997: 10-0 Region Champions--State Champions--finished 15-0 1998: 9-1 Region Champions--lost in semifinals to finish 12-2 1999: 8-2 Second place--lost in 2nd round of playoffs to finish 9-3 2000: 7-3 Second place--lost in quarterfinals to finish 9-4 2001: 8-2 Co-Champions--lost in quarterfinals to finish 10-3 2002: 9-1 Second place--lost in 1st round of playoffs to finish 9-2 2003: 7-3 Fourth place--lost in 1st round of playoffs to finish 7-4 Regular Season Record 118-42 .738 Playoff Record 25-14 .641 Overall Mark in 16 seasons at the helm: 143-56 .719
  16. Hey FatCat--I drove past Greenbrier's field yesterday and was pleased to see that the visitor bleachers are being refurbished. As much as I love going to Greenbrier to play, those bleachers were a disaster waiting to happen. Good luck this season. I would love to go to Murfreesboro in December to cheer on both White House and Greenbrier.
  17. The only thing new I hear right now is the Devils are competing in an upcoming passing league with Trousdale Co. According to the latest enrollment figures on the TSSAA website, it looks as if White House will be 3A next fall while Portland is moving up to 4A. Running game should be much improved with Ladd, Hargrove, and Waller seeing playing time. Passing game sees the return of Levering while Mash is also getting his reps. Cody Harmon returns to lead the receiving corps. If the Devils can shore up the running game over last year, the season will be a good one. I have no idea what has happened to Dandy82.
  18. 1993--White House lost in the semifinals to Springfield after having beaten the Jackets earlier in the year. The final score on a rainy, mud-filled field was 12-6. The winner faced a McMinn Central team that had managed to pull off several upsets on their way to the Clinic Bowl. Springfield demolished the Chargers in the title tilt.
  19. Just remember that none of us on the message boards are playing in the game. The games are won on the field, not in the media either. NW should be confident, but it is indeed a big fall from such a lofty perch for the cocky people of this world. What I'm really trying to say is this: Never underestimate the rest of the region--especially Pearl-Cohn and White House.
  20. August 27th----White House at Portland---the winner of this knock-down has NEVER missed the playoffs.
  21. The Travelers Tournament at Carson Newman University. This Weekend with the featured matchup being the Tennessee Travelers Jamont Gordon, and MidState Ballerz, Reginald Delk. The Ballerz are the best team in the state hands down, and will beat the TN. Travelers this weekend.
  22. That was a totally classy thing to do---Thank you so much for bringing that article to our attention.---All players should be so giving.
