  1. Nick Marable, and he is not done yet.....
  2. Not a D2 rule, it is a boarding school rule. Doesn't apply to everyone, just boarding school. Does not change the fact that TJ is a great wrestler and a 5 time Tennessee state champion.
  3. What's your point, Jack? That there are 17 schools in DII? That it is tough to fill a 16 man bracket with 17 teams? TSSAA created the divisional split based on financial aid back in 1997. It is what it is.
  4. Kaleb Baker is top eight and more work to do.....
  5. Yes, Cleveland beat CBHS at the Cleveland Duals 37-36. On a side note, congratulations to Bradley for their championship. Cleveland, well done Coach Phillips! Great job, enjoyed getting to know you this year and looking forward to future battles. Science Hill, awesome job, Coach Price and staff, you got a great bunch of guys on that team. Tom Graham and Collierville, great tournament showing and some well deserved respect. Pat Simpson and the Ryan group, Congrats, that was fun, let's do that again in two weeks with Baylor and McCallie and the rest. Joe Blair and staff, great job! Chris Lewis CBHS
  6. Semis Collierville over Arlington Cordova over Houston no score on finals yet...
  7. fractured humerus, he will be fine.
  8. perhaps Mike Newman might know...
  9. Christian Brothers Assistants - i can't function without them Rusty Morris - youthful vigor and intensity Armand Aaron - the sagely, wiley veteran Grady Harbor & Marcello Donato - patience and teaching acumen with the youngsters

  11. Hilarious, keep it coming, the more jocularity, the better. I'm not upset, just amazed that a little dual tourney could generate three pages about nothing, kinda like an episode of Seinfeld. Nice chatting, gotta get ready for Houston...
  12. Herrin has never beaten CBHS. Won by 15 three years ago, only other time we have faced them
  13. Geez, we went to southern Illinois to wrestle, had a good time, worked in some younger guys, did well, some guys got a good match out of the day, competition was fair, after KCI and Cleveland duals (where we wrestled Cleveland, Science Hill, Collins Hill and Baylor) and before Ryan Invite and Fandetti brawl, it was what was needed, nothing more or less. Enough about this foolishness. Good to see Hendersonville there kickin' tail too. I am amused this got to two pages...
  14. Okay, Christian Brothers High School is coming up to Johnson City early on Friday to wrestle a couple of duals the night before The Fandetti Brawl and I know that one of the teams had to back out of the duals. If you have a date available, we would love to wrestle Parkland, and Science Hill would probably be interested too. If you are connected to the Parkland program, give one of us a shout and we will set it up. Chris Lewis CBHS
  15. Thanks. After the pounding ya'll gave us, we'll need it.
  16. I am fairly certain that if BCB says the DII schools are jv, then he must concur that the DI small schools tournament at the state duals would be the freshman, or maybe, middle school division.
  17. This is from the TSSAA handbook http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/wrestling.pdf Participation in an invitational tournament shall count in the total number of dates in which a member school is allowed to participate during the regular season. No school may participate in more than four invitational tournaments. You can compete in four individual tournaments, this does not include Dual Tournaments, which you can compete in as many as you want.
  18. Good Luck John Young! We'll miss you down here in Memphis.
  19. Scott, I believe, came from Pennsylvania. He mauled people. I also believe that he was offered bu Oklahoma St. for footabll and wrestling but chose Tennessee. He is the staring center for the Green Bay Packers.
  20. Same silly argument. Bradley has wrestled other DII schools. If I am correct, Bradley was at the CBHS duals in 2005 and wrestled CBHS and Father Ryan, so the argument that Bradley does not wrestle DII is faulty. Secondly, it is just a poll. Did it ever occur to the critics out there that there are not as many wrestling schools as their are football and basketball schools? Roughly 130 to, just guessing, 300 or so that play football and basketball. So the poll is combined, it was combined before the split and has continued since the split, big deal. The coaches, DI and DII, take the poll seriously and know what is going on state wide. Many of the coaches have come forward (myself included) and stated that they vote. I am sure that both DI and DII are fairly represented in voting. Believe it or not, their is a great deal of respect among the coaches of the two divisions. The poll is all for fun anyway to get people talking about wrestling, no one get a bogus BCS crystal ball because of the poll like college football, and by this (discussion) and other threads, the poll is working. If you did not combine the polls what would you be talking about? How much Bradley and Baylor were going to beat everyone else in their respective divisions? That would be an exciting discussion. Enjoy the banter and stop the hating. Steve, congrats on the 300 wins. Look forward to seeing you and Coach Henry (among others) at the state indies. Peace! Chris Lewis CBHS
  21. Bronzegoat- Ghouse is not on my staff, he works with the middle school club team. Independence has a very good team, different circumstances involved in their rise, and Coach Grindstaff is a big part of it as is the success of wrestling teams across the state. The coach(es) is/are a big key to any programs success. How many times have we seen a rising program collapse when there is a change in coaches. Too many times to count in the 19 years that I have been involved in the sport. The sport is always changing and video has revolutionized the sport. DVD's, youtube and flowrestling have changed the sport dramatically and either you keep evolving and learning or you fall behind the curve. Change or die, as with any other sport. Rest assured that we are always looking and learning on that curve. You have some valid points, I personally do not believe that they are aimed at myself or my staff. If they are, so be it. Good luck to you and you kids, wherever you are coaching. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Chris Lewis CBHS
