  4. It's about over.....they just named the 5A lineman......some guy from Lincoln County
  5. Byrd is a lock......you can go ahead and put his name in the story. As for the lineman........i have no clue. lol
  6. Earl Nall is the TSSAA webmaster and I assure you he will have the results posted as fast as humanly possible once the event is over. Earl does a fantastic job with that site and he will get the job done.
  7. If recruiting by private schools is as prevelant as the pro-split proponents say it is, then why can it never be proven? Why arent there cases going before the TSSAA Board of control everyday of privates recruiting athletes away form public systems? It cant be proven because it probably isn't happening. I will not be totally naive and say that no recruiting of high school athletes goes on in the state of TN. But I will bet you the large public systems do as much "recruiting" as the small privates do. Of course, I cannot prove it. My son and daughter will attend public high school once they are of age and I hope that should they win a state championship, it will be against the best available competition. No one, and I do mean no one, complained of "unfair advantages" for the private schools when they were getting their brains beat out by the public schools. I attended a private school 20 years ago and trust me, the publics loved playing us for the most part. Why? Because they were winning. This whole issue is not about "fairness". Its about getting beat between the lines and looking for reasons as to why they are losing.
  8. There are also no "lines of demarcation" at any Memphis City School, Milan, Maryville, Madison Academic Magnet, Liberty Tech, Hillsboro, Tyner, etc. Should they be split off with the privates? They can and do accept kids from other public zoned areas for various reasons. Is that "fair"? Teddavid: swears up and down that he is not sitting on VG's knee like Charley McCarthy. Love him or hate him.....he's right about this.
  9. Great article from Dan Morris and his special projects team. If this is the kind of journalism he will be turning out over the years, then he is doing the right thing. Vol Gen....any surprises on how some of the West TN schools feel about the split? I found the school list and whether they favor a split or not and whether they favor a multiplier or total split very interesting. Im glad to see my local school voting to keep things as they are. I have to say that the split wont affect the Cavs a whole lot except for being in a 9 team region in football. That's seems a little overboard but you play with the cards you are dealt.
  10. Come on guys........2 carries for 72 yards. That is a total shutdown!!!!!!!!!! Heck, he only averaged 36 yards a carry. Mr. Football Smootball.....he would have made no difference in the game at all. None. Nada. Zero. That is only 1 touchdown for every 2 carries. Geez....you Crockett fans just dont get it. Sorry Greenbrier fans...even I couldn't let that one go. No spilt milk here. You guys beat the Cavs fair and square. Sorry things didnt work out last night but be proud of the super season your team had. You guys are class acts all the way around. Congrats to Covington on the win and good luck in the Clinic Bowl.
  11. BA/TSSAA article from The Jackson Sun
  12. Looks like Greenbrier has its own version of shane23....lol. Congrats to the Bobcats on a well played game and good luck against Covington. You took care of business on your home field and sent us Cav fans back a little dissapointed in the loss.....but still proud of the effort of our entire team. It was nice meeting the Greenbrier fans from Coach T. Your team and your fans are class acts and we wish you guys all the luck in the world the rest of the season. Keep your head up even in defeat Cavs....this will hurt for a while but I promise you it will get better. To the underclassmen....you have a lot to look forward to and a great legacy to live up to. Keep working hard and show us our stuff next year. To the Senior class....you should be proud of yourselves and all that you have helped the program accomplish. You are all class acts and have carried yourselves like men both on and off the field. Thank you for 4 great years of effort and for all you have done to better our community.
  13. Well its Friday morning....just 8 hours till game time. I thought I would post a few thoughts before I hit the road up I-40. This is what I love the most about High School football. It's playoff time and 2 great teams get to show what they can do on the field....winner moves on while the loser gets to wonder "what if". For some players, this will be their last football game ever. I hope the players on both teams play their hardest and leave nothing on the field. For us fans who come on here and post our predictions and thoughts yet wont play a down, I hope we all realize that these kids are just teenagers...they arent being paid a dime....they simply love the game. Win or lose.....let's all keep that in mind. I hope the players from both sides avoid any injuries and that all the fans have a safe trip to and from the game. All you Greenbrier fans be sure and come by the RV and sit and talk a while. jshanes(the RV driver) will be their early.....the rest of us should be getting there between 4:00 and 4:30. We will have the grill fired up. It should be fun getting to meet all the Coach T guys in person. Oh.....and one more little thing....... GO CAVSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. It looks like everyone is more excited than Michael Jackson at a Cub Scout campout about tomorrow night. Craigcoc......give me a call tonight. I left you a message on your machine. I may want to ride with you guys if you have room.Ill even pitch in on the food!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Would't be the first time i was accused of hallucinating....that's for sure. I had to do a bit of a doubletake when i first saw this thread again.
  16. Dont worry cavcav....that's who I am referring to. I have no idea if I am going or not right now. Things are a little up in the air right now. I dont guess there is any need to post my disclaimer this time.
  17. Hey Brink.......who is that babe of a woman who is coaching basketball with you?
  18. Okay.....Im officially back from vacation....and ready to enter the fray after spending yesterday reading the myriad of threads about the Crockett/Page game, the Crockett/Greenbrier game, lack of respect, overconfidence, overlooking, underlooking, Region 6 Vs Region 5, bad fans, good fans, cocky fans, blah blah blah. It's funny how every thread ends up saying basically the same thing in the end. Here's my take on this week's game. Great rematch from round 3 last year when Crockett won after dominating the first half. Greenbrier is going to run the ball between the tackles and make the Cavs D line and linebackers do their job. They crammed the ball down the Cavs' throat the entire second half last year and I dont see them doing anything different. The Cavs will rotate their front 5 to keep guys fresh....the Bobcats will basically say stop us if you can. On the other side of the ball, I dont see the Cavs doing anything different than usual. We will run our offense and hope our execution makes up for the lack of size on our offensive line. My biggest fear is if Greenbrier scores early and we have to eventually play catch up football. Our passing game isnt what anyone would call explosive...except when we get it to Earnest and let him do his thing. Boo, Murrell, and Brett have done a great job when other teams stop Earnest (if you consider 184 total yards stopping him.) I think this will be a close game throughout. Im looking for a low scoring game with a late Earnest Williams jaunt being the difference. Ill say Crockett 17 Greenbrier 14. The Cavs experience in the playoffs will be the difference. After reading all the stuff posted last week I feel the need to issue my standard disclaimer again.....just to avoid having to reply to anyone who takes my prediction in the wrong way. DISCLAIMER: The above post comes with this disclaimer. I fully realize that anything can happen in the TSSAA playoffs. 19. Yep...every game if Im not mistaken. Tyler hadnt even take a snap until week 6 because of the broken hand.
  20. Congrats to Greenbrier. I didnt figure McNairy would give you guys much trouble. Our Cavaliers played well tonight and pretty much dominated Marshall from start to finish. BTW....playing at home sure beats driving 3 hours on a Friday afternoon doesnt it? Good luck against Sycamore
  21. I figured Greenbrier and Page would win, but Sycamore beating South Side after being down by 17 in the 4th is amazing. Cant wait to hear the details of the 4th quarter. Congrats to Region 5....you beat us 3-1 heads up. Looks like its up to Crockett County to save face for the Region 6ers. This will be a fun 2 weeks.
  22. This is a shocker to me. Up by 17 in the 4th and lose? Details someone...please. Congrats to Sycamore on a heck of a win.

    south fulton

You might want to check that score again beave.
  24. The penalties were not called for simply blowing the horn. The penalties were called because the horn was being blown during a play. They were warned on 2 occasions about it and continued to do so, even though the Marshall fans and players were telling them to quit. They blew the horn the whole first half between plays and nothing was said.
  25. Congrats to the Sycamore fans. I am a Region 6 fan (Crockett County to be exact) so I will be pulling for South Side, but I think this will be a great game. Enjoy the trip down and enjoy some West TN hospitality. Good luck to both teams.
