  1. I wan't expecting support. I just wanted to know the answer to the question, which you didn't give. What are the percentages of State Championships awarded by the TSSAA won by private schools in 1A in the last 5, 10, 15, 20 years.
  2. What are the percentages over the last 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 years?????
  3. So why does this horribly disadvantaged county have two little high schools which are a mere 11.31 miles apart?
  4. Why don't they? Maybe if the Neanderthals that run the public schools would give a little thought to running schools in the 21st century, all of you anticompetition people wouldn't have to be trying to change the rules. What if the King of Anticompetition at Collinwood had put all of that effort into convincing the local school board to open up their zones . . . . . . . There is nothing in the rules of the TSSAA that prohibits a kid from Nashville from playing for Gordonsville. If a school can't accept a kid because of where he lives, it is the fault of the local school board, not some private school in one of the metropolitan areas of the State.
  5. Let`s try to respond to the post and not the poster. Thanks VG
  6. Then maybe your coaches should quite scheduling the easiest teams around and start playing some tougher teams. Boyd has lost 9 or 10 games in the last 3 years because they play tougher teams outside of their region games. If your team only lost 5 games in 4 years, they were intentionally playing patsies. Maybe if you would play some of those private schools during the regular season, you would be better prepared in the playoffs.
  7. Everyone had their say. It's time to shut up and play ball.
  8. BOY!!! Ain't that a kick in the pants for all of you anticompetition people.
  9. Telling the truth? It's innate.
  10. 1. I doubt anyone outside of Roan Mountain really cares. 2. Shouldn't this be on the basketball board since Byrd, Byrd, Give 'em the Byrd is no longer a participant in TSSAA football?

    Boyd - 20 SP - 7

    Or, North Jackson County, Alabama.

    Boyd - 20 SP - 7

    And SP is open zone.
  13. Thanks for clearing that up for me, You seem like an honest man and seem close to the Boyd program, how do you feel about this issue, do you feel that small 1a schools are at a disadvantage? I said I was not going to post on this forum any more until after the vote. But, I didn't see this question before I said that and I don't want to appear to be avoiding the question. Yes, some of the small rural 1A schoos are at a disadvantage. Said another way, there are schools that have an advantage over the small rural 1A schools. I don't think that advantage is limited to private schools in large metropolitian areas. I don't think that advantage is as great as others think it is. I don't think that advantage is as quantifiable as others think it is. I don't think that advantage is permanent or insurmountable. I don't think the best solution to deal with the advantage is deportation of only the private schools to a separate division based upon obvious prejudice. I think that as a governmental entity, the TSSAA is there to serve all of the schools in the state equally, regardless of their funding source. I think there is a fair and equitable way to deal with this issue that allows everyone to compete in the same division. I call it Plan Z{b}. One Division, three classifications for regular season. Each classification is divided in two for playoffs. If you win your classification championship, you automatically move up to the next one in that sport for the playoffs until the next reclassification or until you win that classification, in which event you keep moving on up. The original classification could be based upon some type of a multiplier and schools that offer financial aid to athletes would automatically be placed in the highest classifcation without regard to size. I realize that is a hit to the Catholic schools, but I'm not sure there is a fair and equitable way to mold every religious philosophy into the system. And, they could always offer the same tuition to all students without regard to their religious affiliation. I now return to exile from this forum, permanently.
  14. I have sort of been your antagonist the last little bid. So, as a sign of respect for your opinion, I'm out too. There is no right or wrong decision. The members of the Board are going to lose no matter how they vote.
  15. If he had not played high school ball in Sequatchie, he could have played at either place (Whitwell or a private) without regard to his residency. Residency is completely within the control of the local school board, if the kid has not played high school ball anywhere else. If the kid has played high school ball and residency doesn't change, the kid has to sit out a year (at both public and private). But, again, the residency is totally up to the local school board. If kids outside your "zone" can't play at your school, your problem is with your local school board, not the TSSAA or some private school.
  16. Being as how BBS is UP or OUT at the meeting next month, we'll never know.
  17. Back to my assertion that ELA is applying a different standard to private schools than public. He has stated that BBS should be moved up because there is a competitive imbalance with the teams they play, but that South Pittsburg should not, why I don't know. Look at these facts: BBS South Pitt Appearances in playoffs: 6 20 Playoff winning percentage: 68% 71% Total Games in playoffs: 19 59 Gold balls: 0 3 If you apply a standard based upon competition, it should apply to all teams without regard to their funding status. If you don't, you have a hidden agenda against the team held to the higher standard.
  18. There is no other explanation for why ANYONE would think there is a competitive reason to move BBS up a classification but not move South Pittsburg up for the same reason. Your right about the spelling thing.
  19. Being as how South Pittsburgh is not an open zone school, I'll take that as a NO. You, Sir, are a hipocrite. You are atypical of the anti-competition people who get on here and say how the 1A privates should be somewhere else because they are better than the other 1A's. But, let someone point out the same thing about a public school and oh, my god, that's different. I have no idea why anyone would leave Fort O to go to East Ridge. I have no idea why kids go to South Pittsburg from North Jackson, but they do. Kids leave Boyd to go to East Ridge. Parents and kids making choices is a fact of life. But I guess only private schools should be punished for such choices. You hate private schools, just because they are private.
  20. Answer the question. Answer the question. Answer the question. Answer the question.
  21. Gosh, I didn't know that the Heisman was for being the best football player in Tennessee. Boy am I stupid.
  22. You can't be the COACH OF THE DECADE in Tennessee if you live in North Carolina.
  23. You know they don't believe that. BUT, the fact that kids come from Alabama to play at South Pittsburgh and kids come from Fort Olgethorpe to play for East Ridge and so on and so on and so on is OK. But let one kid from Georgia be on the Boyd team and all you will see on these boards is "Georgia Boyd."
  24. ELA: You didn't answer the question. YES or NO, should South Pittsburg move up due to their total dominance of their competition in Class A? Just admit that you hate private schools and don't want them in Division I, JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE PRIVATE SCHOOLS. Don't forget that before Coach Akins came to Boyd, they were like 2-2379. Someone famous once said, success breeds envy and resentment. Your envy and resentment are quite obvious.
  25. If the criteria is who can schedule the easiest teams on earth so he can run up the stats, he has my vote. But before we start calling him the Vince Lombardi of Tennessee High School football, he needs to 1. coach in the same state where he lives; 2. coach against good competition week in and week out; 3. Own a gold ball; and, 4. Make it to the big game more than once over that period of time with that record. Having that record is the epitome of someone who has avoided playing better teams.
