  1. I figured a final would be posted by now. Oh well, I listened to it on the radio and South Pittsburg won 49-0. They started running the clock in the second quarter. Acording to the announcers SP was as flat as they could be and still dominated decisively. They also said due to the small stands that SP had filled both sides home and visitor. Looking forward to a big game against Tyner next Friday.
  2. Anthony did play end but the other guy never did. He was only a BB on offense.
  3. Jimmy Layne was a back up in 82 and started in 83 and 84. Tracy Kennemore was back up in 84,85 and 86. Tracy was wingback and backup Blockingback. He had to start a few games in 86 due to Ferrell's injury.
  4. Well, I know they didn't win a Championship or even finish in the runner-up position but the 98 team was just as good as the 94 team if not better. The 94 team would have to be considered the best to win a championship though.
  5. It was 1985 not 1995. They beat SP for the first time in 1989.
  6. South Pittsburg scrimmaged McCallie in 1998 and won by a touchdown.
  7. I think they need to change it back to 7:00PM CDT. A 90 degree high Friday will feel good compared to the 100's last week. Come on people it will be in the 80's by 7:00PM anyway and won't be much cooler by 8:00 so really I don't see a big enough benefit in changing. Just my opinion.
  8. Nope. Didn't work the directions on the link is to somewhere around Stevenson, Alabama.
  9. Yes that is the correct final. It was a very good game 14 - 14 at halftime.
  10. The score is right. I am the one that brought it to your attention. I was there and witnessed everybit of that so-called game that we were there in body but not in mind. I think the players had basketball on the brain. I have a lot of scores from SP history either in my head or on paper. The ones on paper were gven to me by someone I once worked with date back to the twenties and go thru the late 70's. I seen my first game as a 6 year old in 1976 (Bo Haden's senior year).
  11. FYI. I noticed on the link it has the scores from the Pirates and the Warriors past games. The thing I noticed is it has SP as runnerup in 1987 that is wrong they were runnerup in 1985 and 1986. Gordonsville put them out in 1987 in the quarterfinals.
  12. Those were some fun times. Even doing football games from the stands like at Greenback and a few other places. Or the time we did a game from the old Kirkman High football field (where AT&T field is now). Not to mention the fierce Warrior vs. Pirate battles. There were some great ballgames back then. It is hard to believe that it has been around 10-15 years now.
  13. Well Lucky I helped you with few of those broadcasts through the years. Congratulations on this milestone. Weren't quite a few of those games played on the Chattanooga side of the mountain? Lucky you are a class act and a good friend hopefully you can more trips back on this side of the mountain for games. We'll talk soon.
  14. Yeah. If I was MC I wouldn't worry about who SP plays I would worry about who you play. SP beat MC pretty bad and SP's weak line ( and it was very weak) was blowing yours off the ball. With that said I am glad that they have moved the game back to the beginning of the season.
  15. SP will be a team to watch. They also need to play with more heart and become more disciplined. A better line is needed on both sides of the ball. The tougher non-region schedule will help.
  16. I think that is a good scenario drop Bledsoe and pick up Tyner. The region is so weak compared to others across the state the non-region schedule needs to be pretty tough. Another thing is I would like to see Jasper back to open the season instead of the middle of the season.
  17. Does SP play Boyd in the first or second week next year? What week is the Tyner game?
  18. I'll bet you wouldn't want your team to play the non-region schedule that Boyd has the last two years.
  19. Starting with week seven SP was overrated. They should maybe been a top five at the beginning of the season but barely played like a top 15 team at the end. They peaked way too soon and youth showed.
  20. I understand what you are saying. In my humble opinion #25 is your main tailback. With #21 as his backup. #35 and #24 as your fullbacks and #2 as a halfback. You could also use #24 as a half back as well. #1 could be used as a split end and also at tailback. With that being said you could also stick to the wing-T just use more players. What I am basically trying to say run plays in and out with 3 or 4 players at a time use depth in the backfield to your advantage. I do strongly agree the line will need to get better or SP will face the same season as this year. I really have no complaints about the quarterback just that #6 has the tools to be a very good one when he gets his turn.
  21. I think SP didn't do a bad job this year. I do think a stronger line is needed. I think they peaked too soon (Jasper game). Power I needs to be put back in the playbook for short yardage situations. I feel SP could have run power I all night against Temple (not to say they would have won but they would have had better success on offense). Just my opinion/observation.
  22. Congratulations on a win against SP. Gordonsville is a very good football team. They have an exceptional quarterback and line. The runningback is slow but with that kind of blocking makes him look pretty good. SP had too much to go against them early and they got frustrated. They could have made it closer but as immature as they are they just don't have the heart to battle back. If next years seniors don't straighten up next year will be a repeat of this year. They do have a better schedule shaping up for next year they have Tyner and Boyd on their schedule for next year hopfully playing teams like those will make them better. The laughing and joking after you fumble the ball is inexcuseable. That really rubbed me the wrong way. Once again congrats to Gordonsville on the win you have a very good team.
  23. You can search coca-cola redzone on google they have streaming audio of the high school football show on 102.3 FM. They give score updates on Chattanooga area football games about every 15 minutes. As long as someone calls the score in they will have updates. If you are in the Chattanooga area you can listen on 102.3 WGOW FM. Either search coca-cola redzone or Talk radio 102.3 FM. You should be able to hear updates. If you listen on the radio a car radio will be your best bet in receiving it because of weak signal. Hope this helps. Now I am back in read-only mode.
  24. Yeah. I guarrantee you almost every team in every sport there are people/parents who have something against some or most coaches. I think most of it is in Little league sports though. If that is where they want to be that is them. As for me my blood is orange and black no matter if I agree with some of the coaches or not. If my child doesn't end up wearing orange and black I'll tell you now my child will not be wearing warrior purple. With that being said I am back in read-only mode the rest of the week.
  25. First of all, don't underestimate South Pittsburg. Second, SP showed some character lastnight by completely shutting down Whitwell in the second half. Don't get on here and say coulda, woulda, shoulda if the field was dry. It was wet and muddy for both teams. The very reason that SP has not played like they capable of the second half of the season is having the attitude of "we could have scored seventy" or "we should have doubled our points." Finally if SP plays to their capability they should win the game. Thing is they haven't played to their capability in several games. Right now SP has a slight edge because of it being at home. There will be no blowouts from this point on unless the SP that played Temple shows up then SP will get blown out no matter where the game is played. I am looking forward to this game there have been some good ones through the years in the regular season and the playoffs.
