  1. They are 1-1 in the region and that is what matters most of all.
  2. Nope. What happened was a DB who was in his second game as a starter blew coverage on the WR two times or they would not have scored. Besides SP had one touchdown called back because of a holding penalty that was questionable. They also scored on they last play of the first half but the officials did not say the runner got in. Video eveidence shows he did actually get in. That's OK Boyd could not stop the run between the tackles that night . They concentrated on the outside. It was a good game and it is a huge rivalry between SP and Boyd. SP has a easy region but they are a team that will be in the mix in the playoffs. They are very good. That is what happened in the Boyd game since you wanted to know. Boyd is not a slouch and they will probably show some people in the playoffs.
  3. I follow SP but I don't trash or anything like that. I have seen the majority of the games. 1. They beat Greenback 62-14. I didn't make the trip for that one but I understand it was men among boys that night. 2. They beat Boyd 19-15. Boyd scored both touchdowns on coverage mistakes by the same DB he is playing a lot better now. Offensively stat wise it was worse than the score showed. Don't be fooled by Boyd's record. 3. They beat LV 56-0. It could have been 100. LV not very good. 4. They beat Copper Basin 48-0. Even though it was at SP I didn't go. CB is very young from what I hear with 1st year coach. 5. They beat Bledsoe Co 59-0. Bledsoe is 2A but they are in the bottom of their region but a 4 seed is a possibility for them. 6. They beat Grace Academy 54-14. Grace is better than last year but still not very good. 7. They beat Marion County 48-0. Marion is not a bad team but average or slightly less than average. Marion played tough about a quarter and a half. Then SP took control and they could not be stopped. This is some info you were looking for about SP this year. Do not use last year as a comparison at all. SP is very good. They have great speed. To me though their speed can be more impressive on D. I will let your discussion go back to topic I thought I would try to answer the post the best way I could. There are a lot of people interested on how your game turns out Friday. SP plays Temple at Finley and it should be a good game In my opinion SP is about 14 points better than them but who knows. I hope the info I gave answers your question about SP.
  4. runner-up in 74,85 and 86. My bad didn't notice it earlier.
  5. South Pittsburg went to the semi's in 95 not 96. They also went to the quarterfinals in 87, 97 and 2003. They made it to the 2nd round in 89,96,2002 and 2005.
  6. I know it is a next year discussion. Has anybody heard about this possiblity? I have heard it may in the works.
  7. South Pittsburg at 7:00 CDT. I would get there early.
  8. svcfan doesn't cry over a ballgame. It is pointless. I do think SP will win. Now go back to talking to your buddy zone pirate or whatever his name is. Leave the more knowledgeable discussions to the ones who may know more about this rivalry than you do.
  9. I think this will be a good game. I have seen both teams play and I think it will be SP by 14. The Pirates better not have a letdown though it could very easily be the Warriors by 14 if they do.
  10. Not really besides the chance of rain is less in our area for gametime. I don't really think the weather will be a factor.
  11. You must looking through purple shades then. The black on black is the best. Orange on orange is a distant second and the white jerseys with orange shoulders with black pants are very sharp too. I'm not a fan of the orange pants with the white jerseys but a lot of people have commented that they like them.
  12. When it is good looking uniforms South Pittburg's is at the top. Especially since they have three sets.
  13. The thing is region 3-1A is so weak that the fans are a little frustrated. Look at this in 2004 South Pittsburg went 3-7 and finished second in the region. Yes they were a little better than their record showed but a 3-7 hosting a round one playoff game. Last year and this year SP has a good team (this year's team by far better than last). The move to 2A would hurt chances when the playoffs come around but the rivalries in the Sequatchie valley would definitely mean something again. Yes they can compete with Tyner maybe not win every year but they could defintely compete with them. I really don't think they will move up but it does deserve at least some consideration.
  14. Yes, The chances of winning it all is smaller but not zero. They have had good size upfront in the past. In 98 and 99 they could have probably been there and looks like they are headed for years like they had in the late 90's. The talent is there yes it will be harder in 2A but I think they should do it or at least give it a try for a few years.
  15. I think they should definitely look into it. I know there may be some years that they only win one or two games. They also play or have played 2A teams and have been very successful not to mention the Jasper game can be moved back to the last game of the season and it would finally mean something. I do think they can compete in 2A and in some years like this one 3A as well.
  16. Like it has been said this one is a "no brainer". I didn't expect much discussion about this game anyway. South Pittsburg wins this one hands down. They score how many they want and I don't see Copper Basin scoring on the Pirates' first team defense.
  17. What I get is Boyd is just not as good as years gone by. I seen SP when they scrimmaged Polk Co. and I was VERY impressed. The Pirates will win this one and it could get ugly if Boyd plays like they did last Friday.
  18. I think its a bad idea but they didn't ask me. Well I can't make all the games for various reasons it was nice to be able to listen in on the ones I couldn't make. I keep up with all the valley teams but I follow SP closest. Oh well looking forward to the season and hopefully it won't rain tonight.
  19. Yeah I hope it's on the radio too. It ought to be hopefully they won't do what they did last year and stick to home town games.
  20. Need to look at the radar. It may not be raining at all tonight. Hardly any rain at all in the area currently.
  21. I was impressed with South Pittsburg. I watched the scrimmage for about an hour and Polk had a hard time stopping SP not to say they didn't stuff them on a play or two here and there. It seemed as if they stopped SP one play there would two or three where South Pittsburg would gain a big chunk of yardage. Polk has a good team but SP's speed was the big difference. This was during the first hour of the scrimmage.
  22. 2000. Sequatchie hosted it for the first time in 1999. Before it was in Jasper all the time it was in South Pittsburg. I think about 1980 was the first time it wasn't in South Pittsburg that I can remember. I can remember going as a very young boy when it was in South Pittsburg before 1980. In 2003 it was in Grundy. 2004 was when it was back in South Pittsburg.
  23. The quote is kind of taken out of context. I have talked to some people not necessarily on this board who isn't giving SP credit on a good season last year. SP will be pretty good this year unless something strange happens.
