anyway....back to the game, Maryville, if they are focused like they were last week, should win big. Mo West has some size, but Maryville has size and speed. I see the Maryville vets getting revenge from last year's playoff loss, big time. Maryville 35 - Mo West 7, even in the wet. There Rebelraider, a prediction of total domination without being the hind end of a mule.

I don't think anyone up here is expecting a repeat of last year's margins of victory. I thought all along that Soddy Daisy would probably be our toughest region game. I knew Ooltewah would be better, I just didn't think they would be this good this soon. As for the dominance part, I really don't care about dominating, I just want us to win.

Well after a big weekend, I'm a little late on comments about the big game. Most everything that could be said has been said. One thing to point out about the game, I thought that the experience of DB really stood out as the game went on. They really abused our young secondary. I was really impressed with the crowd from DB, biggest visiting crowd in years from what I was told. I thought our guys played a gutsy game, especially when everyone started cramping. When we lost both our starting corners, the game was over. After all is said and done, DB is a very solid team with the best QB and receiver in the state. They will have no real competition in their Region and should go undefeated in the regular season. See ya in the quarterfinals! Oak Ridge now needs to buckle down and get to work. We have a lot of improving to do just to win our region which is much stronger this year. Now we move on to face Heritage. BTW, don't anybody even talk about beating Riverdale right now. Both teams are not even close to staying on the field with them.

Should be Farragut in a walk. 28-7.

What a game! Since I moved to TN 2 years ago, this has been the best games to watch by far. Here are some keys to the game as I see them. Oak Ridge 1) Make DB's high power offense work for their points. DB loves to go over the top, especially to #1. This game will be a tough one for our young defensive backs and safeties, but they have improved a lot over the first 2 games. We must limit yards-after-catch. 2) Oak Ridge must be able to run the ball and eat some clock. This leads to what I think is our greatest asset, our linemen. For the first time since I have been here, we have depth at the line of scrimmage. If we can keep it close, I like our chances in the 4th quarter. 3) Oak Ridge must keep DB off-balance with a mix of run and pass. We did a good job of that last year. Scott McMahon must be on his game with his passes; so far this season he has. 4) Special teams must take care of the ball. I really liked what I am seeing this year from our special teams. Punt and kick returns from Revel and Landon were a great weapon in our blow out against BC. Dobyns-Bennet 1) Shut down Oak Ridge's running game. DB wins this one if they force the Wildcats to beat them with the passing game. 2) Establish some sort of running game to keep Oak Ridge honest. It's hard to win the big games being one-dimensional. 3) Spread the ball around. With a young secondary, someone is bound to be open. 4) Protect the QB. One of the keys to our victory in the playoffs is that we were able to get some pressure on the QB. The pass protection in the regular season game was superb. I know there are more keys, but I think these are the main ones. That said, I think this game will be won or lost in the trenches. DB will find out in a hurry that they don't have the monopoly on speed, especially at the line of scrimmage. However, both teams have in other their first quality opponent. Whatever happens Friday night, both teams probably still have a lot to work on as they get into the heart of their schedules. It promises to be a blast, so get there early! The SHIP is THE place to be this coming Friday for football in East TN! BTW, Tribewarrior45, join us at the tailgate up on top of the hill, if you can make it early enough.

Rhea and Anderson County both get my vote. Both are teams to be recond with this year. Watch out 3 and 4A in East TN!

Congratulations to Rhea County, that was a big win over one of the better 5-5A schools. Good luck on the rest of your season.

I hate these threads.... You would have to put James Mitchell from Oak Ridge on that list. Already the career leading tackler for the Cats.

We were not running up the score. We only had 31 plays on offense as it was. Somewhere along the line the other team has to stop you no matter who is on the field. Bradley Central just couldn't do it. Remember as well that we have a very big non-region game this coming week. Our starters had to have some reps. Really, it was just one of those nights where a lot of what we did in all phases of the game clicked. Trust me, our coaches would have liked a tougher game. BTW, our guys are still taking it one game at a time. These guys still remember the Heritage game from 3 years ago.

The Wildcats played another overmatched team, the Bradley Central Bears, and won 70-0. 1st through 3rd string scored at will, while the defense pitched their first shut-out of the season. Spencer Gulmire had 3 touchdowns and ran very well. Revel Coffey was crazy on the punt returns and intercepted 1 pass and returned it for a touchdown. I thought the team continues to improve, especially with the downfield blocking, special teams and pass defense. Bradley Central will struggle a lot this year. They have players who play hard, but just don't have enough weapons to compete. I thought they tackled poorly which lead to many easy scores. Overall, we were not tested much, but the younger guys had a lot of playing time. Time to get down to work and prepare for DB. Should be a fun game to watch.

I guess the Chattanooga Schools are a little sore over getting beat by a combined score of 79-20 last year. :justwrestle: As for the game, this was an exciting one last year and I would think that this year would be no different. This game will be a great test to see which team is responding to their new coaches.

Note my post, this team does a great job of just taking it one game at a time. This is already a pretty focused group. Ooltewah and Soddy are pretty far down the line for us, but trust me, they will be ready for them in weeks 9 & 10.

Unfortunately, I think it is Alcoa big over OS. Alcoa has arrived while OS is definitely rebuilding. It should be ugly early. 42-0 Alcoa.

Bump. Any Bradley Bears fans out there in Coacht land?

It's really hard to say at this point in the season. We are still working in our new starters, but I am pleased with the progress so far. As you might have read in other forums, this might be the best O & D lines we have had in quite a while. They have dominated everyone so far. It's good to have a vet starting at QB. Our running game is in mid-season form, but we have good balance with a solid passing game. The team is taking the season one game at a time and doing a good job of not looking ahead or taking anyone too lightly. Not a lot bad so far, but DB in 2 weeks will be a tough test.

Wish I could be there as well, because this is definitely the game of the week in the Knoxville area. Is this one on TV? Would be nice to tape. Good luck to both teams and I hope everyone stays healthy through this one.
