  1. Halls and D-B battled it out to an exciting 0-0 tie last week. Young kids scored two late.
  2. When you all talk about "Scotty" becoming the next coach, do you mean Scotty Whitt?
  3. Maybe they should call Randall Sharp out of retirement. Think of the possibilities if you put him in as head coach and bring back Barry Voscamp, Frank Fragemini, and possibly Mike Harmening. A staff like that could rule the world.
  4. You've left out... Knox Rule (Golden Bears) Knox Holston Knox Doyle Knox South-Young (They were the Trojans, but I'm sure they were separate at some point) Madisonville Vonore Not sure about the other mascots.
  5. I find that kind of record hard to believe. If clinton doesn't repeat as district champs, then they should fire Coach Rhody.
  6. I agree. This program is in dire straights at the moment and any help would be greatly appreciated. I talked to the administration yesterday afternoon and Mr. Duff informed me that the school board approved a motion to commute Coach Shepherd in for weekends only. Also, they were doing away with the old "strength and conditioning" supplement for high schools and replacing it with a "consultant" type position for each school and that is the role Coach Shepherd will be filling. And remember, if you read it on CoachT, it's gotta be true! Who does Powell and Central have in mind for that position?
  7. Halls at Carter on May 7th. D-B at Halls on May 14th. Not sure of the precise times though.
  8. There HAS to be more to it than just the church giving money to the grandparents. I heard a TSSAA representative on the radio when the story broke who specifically said that the TSSAA does not look into what someone does with money that they have been given. And if the whole situation was done "unknowingly", then why the tougher penalties than the other violations that claim they didn't know? Again, either all the facts aren't out in the open, or there are some real inconsistencies on the part of the TSSAA.
  9. It's funny you should bring that up. There were two teams from District 3-3A who played ineligible players this past season and all they had to do was vacate their wins. Nothing about fines or probations and certainly nothing about punishing sports that weren't even involved. Why were clinton and central not barred from the playoffs for two years, have to pay fines, and have their other sports punished too? Because as public schools there was no scholarship money involved. GCA signed an agreement that they would not allow any student who receives scholarship money to participate in athletics in return for the opportunity to play in Division 1, the public school division, instead of Division 2, the private scholarship division. Had GCA been a D2 school this wouldn't have been an issue what so ever. GCA violated that rule, which is a very serious infraction with the TSSAA. That is why the young man was ineligible, not because of a transfer violation like in the Clinton and Central cases. What happened at CGA and at Central and Clinton are an apples and oranges and bananas comparison. They aren't near the same violation. The NCAA uses the term "lack of institutional control" when issues involved administration at it's member institutions. This issue with CGA and the TSSAA was a similar thing, which is why the penalties were so harsh. Don't all member schools agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the TSSAA? I guess what I'm wondering is where is the difference between ineligible players? This kid is ineligible because of money, that one is ineligible because of grades, or age, or transfers, or whatever. Why has the TSSAA all of a sudden made a distinction and handed out a much more severe punishment for this case than others?

  11. In my opinion, Jesse Rodd is the greatest pure athlete to ever come through clinton.
  12. I heard they hired Coach McGee from Oliver Springs.
  13. I'd say get rid of them all! Those teachers and coaches are just in it for the money anyway!
  14. I can't wait either. I heard they were going to take all the knox co. coaches and put their names in a hat to be drawn out by the superintendent for re-assignment. Anyone know if this will be televised?
  15. You left out coach of the decade... Jason Rhodey
  16. No, no, no... week 10 would be the first round of the playoffs. After week 9, the tssaa would seat teams in each of the 6 playoff classifications individually. Taking money from schools is how the tssaa makes their money. That's what the playoff system is all about to begin with.
  17. Why not play a nine-game schedule, seat every team in every class after the 9th game, and week 10 would be the first round of the playoffs? There's no question of wildcards, or tough districts vs weak districts, or how you qualified, etc... and there would be plenty of playoff games to make money for the T$$AA.
  18. I heard the rumor was that this young man had decided to go to Oliver Springs.
  19. That is an interesting observation about the Red Devils D Line. Whenever I think of Halls I am always reminded of a physical, aggressive defense that is near impossible to run on with any consistent success. Don't really know how good our running game is this year (modest 3.5 yards average on 31 attempts last week) because most of our damage was done thru the air. I do know that we do not have near the running athletes that Clinton has so that coupled with past experience leads me to believe that we will struggle running the ball again (shoot we couldn't hardly run last year and that was with Patrick Miller running rough shod thru your young secondary). Should be pretty entertaining seeing how all of this plays out with SC's strength pitted against Halls strength. And as is usually the case when we line it up with Halls our defense will be tested once again by their WingT and zone blocking. Even though we had moderate success slowing down WB's version of the WingT (their TO's also had a hand in it too), the Red Devils have perefected the art of time consuming, ball control drives. On a side note, we have never been known for our great kick off coverage units but I sure do hope it gets better quick because it was pretty anemic last week (even by our lowly standards). That's spoken in the true spirit of Lou Holtz poor-mouthing. If all that is the case, how do the Bears ever hope to win a game?
  20. Well, I heard that it was quite a slimming photo.
  21. What could possibly happen?? With all of that talent, if clinton doesn't win a state title, they should find a whole new staff. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  22. red won 21-20. white failed on a 2-pt. conversion with about 30 seconds left and red was able to take a knee for the win.
  23. If "members of the community" talk about a coach only playing a kid because of what their parents do or who there parents are, that means their kid isn't good enough to play. I don't know of any coach on this planet who will sit a good player on the sidelines and play a mediocre player because of what their dad has done for the program. That is a lie that parents of mediocre players tell themselves and anyone else who will listen. Coaches want to win just as bad as everyone else (usually more). So let me assure you, that when "someone" in the community complains that their kid is better than so-and-so, they're not. And if they truly are better, it is up to the kid to prove he needs to be the one on the field, not an aggressive add campaign by their parents.
  24. I never said I was mad about it. But, others had posed the question about whether it was a rule violation or not. It's not my place to turn schools in for this or that, I'm not an employee of the tssaa. That is for them and AD's to enforce. However, some have posted that the coach is not in direct instruction and that is NOT a rule violation. That's just the kids working on their own.
  25. I can assure you that not everyone is doing it. And just because many schools choose to violate the rules doesn't make it OK. Since when have member schools of the TSSAA been able to pick and choose which rules to follow? Why don't they just go ahead and start full pads now? Or have a scrimmage during the dead period? If no one cares about enforcing this rule, then why would anyone care about the others? Is this the message that Oak Ridge wants their kids to learn. That it's OK to violate the rules and regulations if you don't agree with them or if you determine that it's not too important?
