dmoyers I think 4A in East Tennessee and West Tennessee is just as good as 5A is. Where 5A is so much better is in Middle Tennessee. Middle Tennessee is where the best high school football is played period. I have a nephew who played at Centennial High School in Franklin. I saw the teams he had to play against. I get tired of people saying Maryville is too gutless to play 5A. I know the Maryville administration didn't want Maryville to move up because of travel. I wanted Maryville to move up myself.

William Blount is 0-2 but they played 2 good football teams. Central and Soddy Daisy are tough. I think both teams running games will decide this one. I think it will be a close game.

Maryville is scared of no one.Maryville can compete with any team in the state of Tennessee. Maryville may not beat every team but they can hold their own.

Maryville has a great band. bud is right. The DB band is better than most college bands.

Heritage was more physical that game than Maryville was. Heritage had a very good team that year until David McMahan got hurt. When McMahan got hurt Heritage's season went down the drain.McMahan was a great option quarterback. Maryville had a lot of sophomores playing at that time. Maryville went through some turmoil because of some stupid things a few players did. Heritage was the favorite in that game in 2000. Maryville was 0-2 and reeling. Heritage started out 2-0. Maryville started out 0-4 and won their next 11 to win a state title. George Quarles sold me when he brought that team back from a 0-4 start. The game that surprised me was the 1999 game. Heritage was 1-9 in 1998. Maryville was 15-0. Heritage looked awful in 1998. I thought Maryville would kill Heritage that year. Heritage rushed for over 300 yds and beat Maryville 26-21. Maryville was lucky it wasn't worse. Maryville could not run the ball that game. My nephew was the MHS quarterback and took a beating that game. He suffered a concussion that game.

Riverdale wins because of great coaching and good talent. I watched them beat Oak Ridge last year. Riverdale had a 175lbs noseguard. Last years Riverdale team was no where close to as talented as the 2001 and 1997 teams were. They won because of pride and determination. I respect the heck out of Riverdale. Gary Rankin has done a good job there. Where was Riverdale at before Gary Rankin came there? Coaching means a lot. It wasn't an accident that Riverdale has been to so many 5A title games. They are good. When a team wins a lot they get blasted by fans whose team has suffered too many whippings to that team.

My thoughts on the game. If Maryville plays like they did vs Halls. Heritage will have a good chance of winning. Maryville will have to bring their A game. If Maryville plays well and eliminate a lot of the mistakes they made vs Alcoa and Halls they will win. As a Maryville fan you can never overlook Heritage. Heritage is much better this year. They could have very easily been 2-0 going into this game. Heritage will play harder in this game than they will in any other. I still have the 99 & 2000 games fresh in my mind. Heritage would rather beat Maryville than any team they play. Maryville is their Super Bowl. I look for a very tough game with Maryville winning 28-7. I watched Heritage's games on cable channel 5 in Blount County. They have a quarterback that can scramble,good running backs who run hard,some strong boys on the line and a couple of good receivers. On defense they are small up front but quick. Their linebackers is the strength of the defense. Those guys will hit you. They shut down Farraguts running game. Farragut beat the heck out of Halls and Karns. They were lucky to get out of Heritage with a win. I guarantee you that Heritage has Quarles full attention.

I just hope they are #1 after december. Maryville has a ton of talent. If they quit making a bunch of mistakes like they did vs Alcoa and Halls they can be very good.

I think it is way too early to start blaming Richie Marsh. Richie is a fine young coach. He will only get better with experience. Scott Meadows wouldn't have made him defensive coordinator if he though Ritchie couldn't do the job.

A wet field didn't help the passing game. Andrew Clement didn't play last friday. Steven Childs is a good receiver. Ryan Jenkins made some good plays this year. Tyler Maples will only get better. Offense is fine if they don't turn the ball over. Offensive line has played great this year. Brad Merrit and Tyler Gaskin were studs. Not too many of those type receivers. Secondary is really the only weakness. Dave Garner should come back soon. He will be a big help.

I like seeing Maryville play the county schools. I will be there ruber. I don't miss many Maryville games. I wish rebelraider would shut up. It was just 4 short years ago that Heritage gave Maryville a 28-0 beating. Heath. There are some weak teams in 5A also.

Eric Hatcher is 6'5 330 lbs. He is very strong. Another beast for WB is Bart Hicks. He is a 5'10 235lbs linebacker. Only a sophomore.

That deranged fan who went in the WB lockeroom and attacked the coaching staff should be banned for life. He should never be allowed to attend any William Blount event.

If Maryville turns the ball over like they did against Halls Heritage will win. Maryville dominated Halls physically but made too many errors. Heritage is better than Halls.If Maryville plays like they did against Carter,Maryville will win. Don't dislike Maryville because of a few fans. I have seen a few bad fans from Alcoa,Heritage and William Blount. Every school has bad fans. I try to treat everyone with respect.

David Sweetland is a great young coach. He is a former Rebel standout. If Maryville has a coach that leaves David Sweetland would be the 1st guy I would take to replace him.

Hate is such a awful strong word. A lot of us Rebel fans you hate stated that they wanted Alcoa to win a championship in 2A.

Bellview must be one heck of a team. Congratulations to Bellview. Congratulations to De La Salle on the streak.

Heritage is much improved this year. I expect a tough game from Heritage. Heritage has a good stable of backs and a quarterback who can beat you with his arm and legs. I believe Maryville is too deep for Heritage.I predict Maryville to win 28-10 William Blount and Heritage get kids that live in the Maryville city limits. They don't have to pay $1800 a year to go there either.

Maryville Middle is 4-0 this year. I haven't seen them play but I heard this is one of the better teams Maryville Middle has had.

I would love to be able to argue with you on that one. But! It looks like Central is playing better football right now. Maryville has all the pieces for a great team. Maryville has a good quarterback,good running backs,good receivers,good field goal kicker,very good offensive line,good defensive front 7 and an athletic secondary. Maryville is making a ton of unforced errors. The Central game is still 7 weeks away. Hopefully Maryville can work out the kinks. Oak Ridge and Dobyns Bennet are looking very good right now.

I believe MLREB is a little miffed. I talked to some Halls people and they said it hasn't rained in 3 days. The field was a swamp tonight. I think it is bush league to water that field all night long. Maryville's defense was outstanding. Gary Tucker and Jon Killabrew had great games. Josh Smith nailed the quarterback one time. The whole defensive line looked good. What about Steven Shrivers hit? He nailed that guy. I still worry a little about the secondary. Maryville needs Dave Garner back. Offense moved the ball at will but kept shooting themselves in the foot. Maryville just scored 24 points but never punted. 8 turnovers. Maryville needs to cut down on mistakes. Running backs running into each other,fumbles,dropped passes. Maryville will never beat MOWest,Powell,West,William Blount and Central with the way they turned the ball over. You are right MLREB. I bet Maryville had close to 500 yds. I bet Maryville rushed for 350 yds tonight. Maryville ran the ball at will. Halls had 5 defensive backs all game long. On the 1st touchdown drive in the 2nd half Maryville ran the same off tackle play to Byner the whole drive. Halls never stopped it. Maryville needs Clement back. Matt Gardner needs to come back also.
