Walkenvol, I realize this simple-minded telephone man is a poor excuse for Bear Cat, but I'll give you my version of ND's biggest rival. Few teams cause the commotion that the fine Cleveland bunch does. If memory serves, ND was the first team Cleveland ever wrestled when they first began their program. These two excellent programs have wrestled ever since. I know I don't have to tell you how great Coaches Mullin and Miller are. The competition is intense and preparation starts on day one. Can you think of a better way to get a team motivated than for them to realize that they are going against a great program like Cleveland in the first week of the season!? It has always been a classy and friendly rivalry and I will remember it fondly...for a long time. Go Irish!

It is my understanding any kid needing financial assistance to attend Notre Dame can work at the school during the summer prior to the school year. It doesn't matter if the kid is an athlete or not - strictly needs based. BTW, ND was 33% non-Catholic when my kid attended.

CCS would be the perfect situation for Akins. He'd get them off to a fast start and prevent them from becoming a perennial doormat, the way most new programs do. I've heard CCS is committed to building a good football program. They already have a good soccer and Bball. If I overlooked a program I'm sorry. These are just the ones I read about. What better way to inaugurate a new program than starting with one of the best?

That's all well and good. I wish Coach Miller only happiness and goodness. He is in a class of his own - curious though. Why was the Cleveland coaching position advertised on themat.com? That is a nationwide website. Let's hope this great coach comes back for another season. He makes his wrestlers great, and, other coaches worry.

Has anyone heard who might be getting the Cleveland job? I would surmise there's a bunch of applicants for that great program. Surely something's perkolating.

Harry: Sounds like we need to convene another Irish Caravan meeting...soon. I love Coach Lennon as much as anyone, and can never put into words what good he did my kid and the rest of the Irish team. Wes loves him too. He touched our kids in a way that will last forever. However, if he wants the Cleveland job; I pray he gets it. Sure, we'll miss him; he'll miss us. The thing we have to accept is: He's a great human being and excellent coach. He deserves his own opportunity. He made it the old fashioned way: He earned it. Jay Adamson, Notre Dame phenom, finishes the season undefeated! Two time state champ. One in division I and one in division II. Absolutely awesome - and, he's only a junior. We're proud of you Jay!!!

Sly: ND wrestled Mc at Soddy Daisy. They lost to Mc 40 something to 20 something. ND also wrestled in a tourney that Baylor competed in but I don't remember which one.

I've known many a good Georgia Men, went to school with Georgia Men, played high school football with Georgia Men...toejam, you're no Georgia Man. Since you're so in awe of principles, keep watching, even the dimmest can be enlightened...maybe. BTW, you didn't have to tell us you're no Baylor fan. That was obvious.

Keef: I was referring to the AP Coaches statewide poll that includes EVERY high school with a wrestling team, regardless of their Division. ND has been in the top 15 for the last 5 years - quite an accomplishment for a school their size.

keef: The State coaches' poll has placed ND in the top 15 for the last five years. Please name one other school with a co-ed population of approximately 530 students equal.

Maybe not 9 pages, but you and Bear are a credit to your school and the sport. Last Saturday's article about the Bear and his fine son was enjoyable. Your untiring support of the team is a fine example of parenthood.
