  1. How about a BA score, Wes?
  2. Wes, FYI: Southhaven is loaded with D1 talent. I think that this will be a much tougher game for MBA than Trinity was. This will be a very close ball game.
  3. Great news for Marsh and Hicks. That is wonderful! The deal with Neil absolutely stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I would have to agree with Heavy E. I have seen both BA games now...... WOW.... They are the real deal. This should be another great year for a great program. Good luck Eagles; make the midstate proud!
  5. THAT'S IT: Stop the presses Milan is the 2003 State Champion in every division including DII. The season is over; wasn't it great?

    MBA vs LaVergne

I haven't heard much about this game. Everyone seems to be focused on talking about Trinity. I have been around long enough to know that it is difficult to re-focus your attention after winning a big game. Bottom line is that Trinity was not as good as everyone expected. I believe that MBA will play at least two teams in DII AAA that are better than Trinity; so, get over the win and get ready to play Friday night! Roll Red Roll

Newball, I am going to forward your post on to Michigan for LLoyd and your family member to see.
  9. Itzme, I want to ask you why, but then again is it really worth it? Thankfully, people like you are not the norm for BA. We'll just remain quiet and keep executing, out working, out thinking, and out playing the competition. Sure, we may lose Saturday, but I can promise you we'll pass our share of licks! Go get'em boys! Roll Red Roll
  10. From all of the preseason info, it sounds like BA is the team to beat. Once again they are loaded with talent and D1 material. It'll be interesting to see if they play to their potential. Everyone is overlooking MaCallie, Baylor, and CBHS though. They will have quality teams as well. Of course, I'd love to see the boys on THE HILL win another one! Roll Red Roll! FlyBy
  11. By defining the greatest coaches of all times by won loss records and accomplishments on the field, one has to consider many of these great names. The most qualified people to speak on that topic would be the coaches themselves. If greatness is decided by the influence and impact a coach has had on his players' lives, then many of these coaches names would be here as well. The man who led me on the field every Friday night for my less than stellar career had a huge influence on my life. Coach Tommy Owen at MBA will always be in my mind the greatest of all High School football coaches. He did not win the most State Championships, nor does he holds the record for most wins; however, I believe he would win hands down in the impact that he had on his players and his opposing coaches. He was truly a LEADER of leaders. We all learned from him in every aspect of his life. It is rare that most of us go very many days without something bringing a lesson that he taught us back from our past. In this age of Winning is the most important thing, I am very happy to say that I knew Coach O well and that he taught me that winning does not define a great man. What defines a great man are his actions, and his actions prove that he is the Greatest Head Coach in Tennessee history. Hit the Red Gate Runnin' FlyBy

    BA scouts

I must have hit a sensitive nerve on the Una comment! Don't put words in my mouth; that was just a question. I'll actually support BA several times this year by attending games and cheering for them. Here's the point. It seems to have been going on for years. The problem is that the "it" can't be clarified by the TSSAA, BA or anyone, and who's to say that there is anything wrong with the "it". I have wondered about the Una connection for many years, and I am curious just how many kids have come from there to play at BA. I am not saying that they have done anything illegal.

UNA How many kids have gone from the UNA program to Brentwood Academy?
  15. Hey Wes, Way to go out on a limb;). BA is always very good. I am looking forward to another great season in DII AAA. It is the best football in the state. Good Luck to BA this year.

Any of you Huntingdon boys know Glendon Rich? Is he still working in the press box?
  19. Last year I threw out the idea of one Super League bringing all of the Southeastern Private Power Schools into one private league. I agree that it sounded a little crazy at first, but I am beginning to believe that the concept is not that ridiculous. With all of the hoopla surrounding the MBA Trinity game and the talk of an estimated crowd in excess of 5,000 people, I am beginning to imagine what it really would look like week in and week out. What if MBA's schedule looked like this for 2004: @ Trinity Brentwood Academy @ McCallie Jax Bolles @ Marist Evangel @ Baylor MUS @CBHS etc.... I know I left off several good schools, but you get the picture. Can you imagine the excitement that that would bring to the High School arena? I know that this is impossible because of the impact on the student related activities which is why kids ultimately go to MBA anyway; however, it is fun to think about it.
  20. This is what is great about HS football. Any team can beat any team on a given night. Many of you seem to have forgotten that BGA beat MBA last year as well. So, what does that mean? It means that the MBA team battled through early adversity and became a solid football team at year's end. Yes, they were the best team in DII-AAA at the end of the year. The run that they had starting with the Ryan game was nothing short of amazing. They whipped McCallie, then avenged earlier losses to Baylor, MUS, and finally Brentwood Academy. It was an awesome run; maybe the best turn-around I have ever witnessed. Everyone seems to talk about MBA and BA, but Baylor and several other schools will be returning decent teams this year like MBA returned last year. Anyone could take it. Buckle it up and hit'em in the face. Roll Red Roll FlyBy

    MBA vs Trinity

Let them continue to think that way...... I know a bunch of players and coaches who thought the same way going into a game with MBA who left with a different opinion.

    MBA vs Trinity

Is it just me, or does this have a familiar ring to anyone else? Team X has great athletes on both sides of the ball and is heavily laden with D-I talent. If Team X plays their game, they'll kill the Big Red. MBA is the same old MBA with pretty good talent returning and their usual solid game planning by an excellent coaching staff. Everytime MBA has a big game, we hear the same story. X team is bigger, faster, stronger, more athletic,... blah, blah, blah....... The last time I checked, MBA's record in big games is pretty good in recent history. Gentlemen, Execute your game plan, make your reads, and knock the ___ out of them! Go Big Red! FlyBy
