The Freshman Qb is probably the one thing giving a lot of fans Hope , he has a great chance to be one of the best Qb’s Maryville has ever had , and that’s saying a lot

Bearden threw the ball 2 times , a 3 man line is ridiculous against that kind of offense and anyone watching could tell what a disadvantage that put our Boys in . They actually went to a 4 man line when Bearden was in the red zone and stuffed the run very easily, so when we went super conservative and kneeled to go to overtime I along with I’m sure everyone else was thinking well at least on the goal line defense we definitely won’t try that 3 man crap. But boy we were all wrong . I could understand a 3 man line if you had the linebackers creeping up on every play when they’ve proven all game they’re running over 95% of the time but that wasn’t the case . Our Boys played their butts off last night but unfortunately we played with one hand behind our backs . I agree with what others have said about the offense, we had a few drops and then we just got super conservative. Maryville’s biggest advantage on teams for years and years has been that the defense never knew what was coming . Misdirection and unpredictability is a good thing

It’s like you read my mind with every word you wrote. Maryville has been so successful these last 20 plus years by being unpredictable, we no longer are . We were known for our smoke and mirror trick plays , misdirection, double reverses … a trick play now is throwing on first or second down. The 3 man line tonight was hard to watch . I could see that against a passing team but they passed 2 times .

A 3 man line against a team that passed on us 2 times …

I guess I'm a little Old School but I'm not a fan at all of the 3 Man Line on defense . Big Difference if you're walking a linebacker up to the line of scrimmage , but I'm not seeing that a lot . To me it's playing Tentative and Maryville these last 20 years has not beaten superior teams by playing tentative . Especially in High School , pressure on a QB can be very disruptive . Same thing on Offense , we played 3 yards and a cloud of dust predictable Football for most of the game but with 4 minutes left we opened up the Offense with a lot of success . It's really hard to beat a team that's more athletic by playing predictable . Maryville has been really unlucky these past 2 years by losing 2 D1 RB's who are absolute studs ... Last year when Vaughn went down we got to see just how great Ladue was ... this year we don't have a D1 backup . I remember wondering last year just how good could Maryville have been if we were actually using both of those great Running backs to run the ball instead of Ladue just mainly being a glorified Blocking Guard . I remember a time though unlike last year that even with a Stud RB we were very diverse on Offense and could never predict what our Offense might do ... I totally understand the Benefits of having a Team that can grind it out on the Ground but being one dimensional has definitely not been Maryville's keys to winning these last 20 years .

Not a Grown man with any Balls ! Good Lord the toughness and Hard Love I got from my Coaches back in the Day made Joining the United States Marine Corps a LOT easier on me . I Didn't cower in a corner wanting my Mommy when the Drill Instructors started Hollering because of the Great Leaders of Men I had for my Football Coaches cared enough about me to have high expectations .... and I know of Hundreds of other great Men who are forever Grateful for these Real Men we had for leaders back then .
