  1. What's really going to be interestin is if AC, AE and Fulton finish the season tied for first and it goes to overall record. AE would lose out on this because they play only 9 games. Boy that would be crappy if you're a Roadrunner fan.
  2. I didn't mean Greenback wasn't physical. The past couple of years they haven't been and it has cost them. I think they've worked hard on changing their attitude so they could play smash mouth and not jut finesse. I think Friday's game is a great matchup because both teams can throw the ball very well and both are solid on the defensive side of the ball.
  3. Yea, the Jackets don't have the athletes to run with Fulton or AC and that means they have to control the line which they definitely didn't last night.
  4. I agree with you Swamp. That's how I'd pick it, but there will be a lot of close games down the stretch that could go either way.
  5. Coalfield already beat Oneida, so 1-2-3 should be (order to be determined) Coalfield, Greenback and Midway. Oneida/Oakdale winner probably finishes fourth and goes to Clodland. If Greenback beats Coalfield Friday night then the Cherokees will win the region. The game will be a dandy. Coalfield, like Midway, is an extremely physical football team. Coalfield, unlike Midway, can throw it. Ricky Lowe is a great QB and he has a ton of good receivers. The Jackets also have a great back in Daniel Norman who should get more than 1,000 yards this year. Friday's game will be a dandy, but I don't know who I'm going with yet.
  6. Boyd will probably be the best team that the Bobcats have played so far, but the Bucs are a finesse team and the best way to beat a finesse team is to sock in the mouth and we all know that OS can do that very well. Should be a great game and a close one. The Bucs will probably get a long TD somewhere along the way, but if the Bobcats can limit the big plays then they'll be OK because I don't think Boyd can sustain many long drives.
  7. AC dominated the line of scrimmage. Sanders had 199 yards rushing and Mounts added 97. Kingston had just over 50 as a team. Kingston did have 105 yards passing and I don't know about AC. Matt give me a call at work. I'll be here a couple more hours.
  8. Dustin Latham is a stud at fullback. Forget about all the speed, because the Tigers couldn't stop the big fullback. One word of advice, however, is the Wildcats need to work on their kick coverage. Gallaher took one the distance in the second quarter and was one man away from another in the first quarter. Sweetwater finally had to squib it down the field to contain Gallaher. All-in-all that's about all they did bad.
  9. For all the skeptics? Everybody knew the Landers would rip the Devils.
  10. I simply think that many teams believe Wartburg will fall off the screen by losing Susak and Ridge, but Amber Jeffers gives them a scorer and they have two sophs. in Milicent Blakeney and Whitney Freeman that will be known players quickly this season. I still can't think of the freshman's name coming up, but she's a post that could also make an impact this season. I forgot all about Sunbright earlier, they have a lot of potential with everybody returning. I wouldn't be surprised if they finish #2. I'm also curious about Oneida. I know they lost a lot, but they seem to always be the team to beat come tourney time.
  11. Tank our espn connection is the announcer on 92.7
  12. Swamp, Do you think Kingston could be flat? I know it sounds stupid with AC coming to town, but the Jackets wanted that game really bad last week because of what happened last year with the six-game losing streak. I think it took a lot out of them and I think they might be emotionally drained.
  13. I don't know the officials well enough to know who has kids and what not, but an official shouldn't be allowed to officiate a game if his/her kid is playing in it.
  14. They just play very hard and very physical. The Bobcats play as hard as any team you'll find. Coach Johnson has the team believing in the us against the world attitude and they go out each week looking for respect. The Bobcats pound and keep pounding at their opponents on offense and that also takes a toll. You'll also notice that OS plays teams like Smith County and Boyd-Buchanan in the non-region part of their schedule. I believe a big part of that is because a lot of local teams don't want to line up against them because they know just how physical they are.
  15. Class A Darren Payne-Harriman and Clint White-Midway
  16. Here's my predictions for Friday 1) OS 24 Alcoa 7 2) Wartburg 34 Harriman 7 3) Rockwood 28 Sweetwater 27 (Upset Special) 4) Greenback 28 Midway 14 5) Anderson County 16 Kingston 10
  17. Did they get help from the officials? I don't know but it is called home cooking. In order to make that statement, I would have to see the video from the game. With 22 players on the field, it's hard for me (maybe not for some) to see everything. I know the clip happened, I thought it was a facemask near the end zone, and I didn't think there was motion or an illegal formation at the end.
  18. Why do you think that OS can't beat them next year? OS has a junior class that is absolutely loaded. I think the Bobcats will be much better than this year. This year, they've had to replace 8 starters on each side of the ball and it's hard to replace experience. That will not be the case next year as dang near everybody that starts is a junior. If I had to make a prediction on next year's game, I would take OS by 7-14 points.
  19. Well I'm one person who wants to see all the county teams do well. Heck, if I was from Harriman, I'd want OS to win every game just so that a Devil win would be that much sweeter. Or I'd feel the other way if I was from OS. It's always fun when your rival loses, but it's more fun to beat them when they're at the top of their game. I personally think Harriman is the team to beat in 4A, but Wartburg will be there at the end. The Lady Dogs have a freshman coming in that sounds awesome, can't think of her name, but KINGBRIAN can help me. In 4AA, OS has to be the favorite, but everybody has just about everyone back. AC was last in the district last year and nearly beat OS late in the season.
  20. 1) Motion at the end- I didn't see any motion on the play when Whalen reached midfield, but I think the call was for an illegal formation (6 men on the line). Even so, it was strange that that was the only time all night that anybody lined up wrong, but that sometimes happens when you run a lot and then look to air it out. 2) The facemask- At the time I was in the back of the end zone and thought it was a good call (from my angle), but sometimes you can horse collar a guy and the twist looks like they had the mask. 3) Punt called back- Nobody has mentioned the block in the back that brought Kingston's punt return back. I was on the OS side line at the time and that play was huge. I didn't see it, but from what I've heard it was behind the play and that's the ones that make coaches sick because they didn't need the block anyway. 4) The last pass- I'll never fault a coach for going for the win, but I bet Coach Johnson would take a knee if he had it again on the 29. I feel sorry for DJ Whalen because it looked to me that the ball slipped a bit and he didn't have trouble the rest of the night with the wet ball. 5) Great Game- All in all it was a great game that neither team deserved to lose. OS had them on the ropes, but a couple of fumbles kept the Jackets alive. Then Kingston made some huge plays to keep their streak alive at home.
  21. You better check the film again because I believe Harman is on the D-Line.
  22. The Class A Champion will come from regions 5-8. The top 3 teams from the state are probably out there. Cloudland, Boyd, South Pitt and Gordonsville look like the top four in regions 1-4.
  23. I think OS's physical style of play will be the difference. I don't think freshmen, no matter how talented, are physically mature enough to withstand the Bobcats' smash mouth style.
  24. I think David has two games with two picks and three games with one. I know he returned one for a TD against Lenoir City. He also returned one inside the five against Rockwood and Harriman.
  25. On paper this looks like Tennessee-Rutgers, but Trousdale won't struggle. TC-48 JC-0.
