  1. Has anyone ever thought that the clock might not have started on time? I've seen that happen several times late in games when the clock keeper turns into a spectator.
  2. I knew you guys would put up a lot of points on AE. They cant stop the run then they get torched through the aire because they have 9-10 in the box. Their QB is such a great player though that he keeps them in any game. Without him, they lose by 35 or more to any good team. As for this week, Grace has a better defense so I don't think Hampton scores 48, but I see the Bulldogs winning by 14. I think they're the better team.
  3. AE is such a hard opponent. They don't run the ball well, they don't protect the QB well and they give up tons of yards rushing. All of that makes them sound like a terrible team, but man oh man is Harper a player at QB. IMO they don't make the playoffs without him and they might make the state title game because of him.
  4. Just watched the RW replay. Jones looked 100% to me. More than 100 yards rushing another 88 receiving on 3 catches. Rockwood, however, couldn't make stops on defense and had just seven possessions on the night, which didn't allow their offense to wear down the HV defense. Rockwood will have to play better to beat GCA. I did, however, think Rockwood would struggle with this game. HV was a pretty good 4 seed and all RW talked about all week was GCA. They're lucky they held on tonight.
  5. My son was there and said the Oakdale player was moving. Sounds like a bad concussion though. Of course none of this is confirmed, just what my son withnessed/was told.
  6. I think the problem is with having 6 classes. That leads to small regions and bad teams getting in. If TSSAA dropped to 5 or 4 classes, it would make bigger regions and make it harder to get to the playoffs. That won't happen, because TSSAA would lose too much playoff revenue.
  7. The AE QB (Harper) is really good. Threw for 502 against Rockwood. Their line isn't very good though. They have a lot of negative plays because they don't protect well and don't run block well. Harper will keep them in the game. I expect GCA to win.
  8. Who will be playing on Thursday this week?
  9. Greenback did make some mistakes, but General Neyland's game maxim that says the team that makes the fewest mistakes will win. That held true tonight, as it does most nights. I was glad to see Harriman didn't throw in the towel in the second half. The way the first half went and then when Harriman threw that pick to start the second half I thought it was going to be 50-0.
  10. Just my two cents. Greenback was very impressive and didn't make mistakes. Harriman ran the ball very well, but you can't turn the ball over five times and fail to score at the one twice. Bottom line is Greenback made plays and Harriman didn't.
  11. I've been all all-tournament committees in the past, but wasn't on this one. Just wanted to throw that out there because I've had a few people say something to me thinking I had something to do with it. I also don't think I've ever seen a player make the team after losing in the first round. I don't necessarily have a problem with it though if they went off and none of the final four teams had more deserving players, but I was definitely floored when I only heard one player from Grace and none from Oneida announced.
  12. Football is a funny game. Oneida dominated the first game for the most part and lost, tonight they didn't really do much and won by 2 TDs.
  13. Here's my take. Oneida was the better team in game one, but Rockwood stole it at the end. After that game, I figured Rockwood was the team with the most room for improvement and I do think they're a better team now than then. As far as No. 6, he needs to play like he did against GCA. In that game, he hit the holes hard and got up field. Against Boyd, I felt he danced too much and that won't work against Oneida. He's got to trust that the hole will be there because if he breaks through, no one will catch him. This is the type game where 2 or 3 yards is good because you don't want to be in 3rd-and-long against either of these defenses. I have no clue who wins, but I doubt the Tigers win this week with four turnovers and I doubt Oneida blows a 14-point lead with 3:55 left to play.
  14. A lot of people have talked about Rockwood's D-Line being small. They have several combination they use. Since Biyd threw a lot and didn't run a lot inside, they went with a smaller, more athletic group. They'll have more beef up front at Oneida.
  15. I like a bye when you have two weeks to prepare for an opponent, but Harriman didn't know who they were playing.
  16. I'm still waiting on Midway to peak. I thought coming into the season that they had a chance to be better than last year, but injuries forced so many kids to move around that they never found a rhythm after the first month, and that led to a lot of turnovers. They are still a very dangerous team, they rushed for 350 yards or so against Greenback last week, but turnovers did them in. If they hang on to the ball, they could make a run at the semis, but they've got to do something in November that they haven't done in six weeks and that's protect the football.
  17. Travel won't be an issue. They've made two very long trips already to Whitwell and Hancock County. What will be an issue for the Green Wave is turnovers. They've turned it over a ton this year.
  18. Midway threw it last year, this year they've only throw for 562 yards all year.
  19. Not sure how Rockwood's pass D is, Strader normally sacks the QB before they throw it. LOL
  20. Harriman's Garrett Greene has hardly been mentioned, but he has ran for 775 yards and 10 TDs in his last four games. Three of those games he carried it at least 29 times. He's one of those kids that gets stronger as the game wears on. Of course a lot of credit goes to his line, but I expect this to be a great game.
  21. Opponents with a .500 record is first tiebreaker after overall wins.
  22. It was actually a halfback pass that went for a score.
  23. Great game Rockwood. The boy from Oak Ridge was a difference maker. He only carried it six times tonight, but wow. I have a feeling he gets double digit carries next week. The Tigers now have a true double wing attack that teams have to honor both wings.
